  1. I disagree as I think that bar owners that provide BG to customers are PIMPS and he's just trying to make a few baht on the deal. Lest we forget; Pattaya is the largest brothel on the planet and this is a forum about pussy.
  2. I prefer fresh draft to bottle and don't mind paying a 'fair' price for it. What do I think is a 'fair' price for a pint? I'd go for 100 baht even tho I can get a pint in my local for the equivalent of 60 baht. How do bar owners deal with a new customer who runs up a 2K bar bill? Couple of years ago, I left my wallet back in my room and the owner of the old Alamo Bar on soi 8 let me run a tab that day. I told him up front and he did know me. I have on the rare occasion brought a beer into a bar and finished it but I do buy a few more in the bar and let's not forget the odd LD.
  3. Group of expat hang out on soi 8. The corner bar on the right side of Soi 8 on Beach Road. They get together around 3-4PM. They have a table that faces Beach Road. They would know where you can rent a cheap apartment. Tell them Denny sent you.
  4. Bullfrog, I would have pitched a major bitch if I had talked to the owner about hanging out till a certain game came on and at the last minute he changed the channel because his pal came in and asked him to.
  5. I tend to disagree about the ID check. When the BG sees her info being written down it tends to give her second thoughts about the possibility of ripping you off as her identity is known. Then again the this will not stop the hard core thief.
  6. I concur, I hope she meets a 'nice guy'. When I'm in town next month, I'll be more then glad to stop by and buy her a few LD. BTW, I like the sound of that "I'm in town next month"
  7. You run a good joint and I like it. The only time I've been on stage is when I've been invited by the singer. Your customers are RIGHT the sound is to loud and balanced to far into the treble range. It's shrill. You need to turn it down. Dealing with city council, why don't you guys start a farang business association to deal with them. Politicians listen to groups. Especially ones that make campaign contributions.
  8. I've stayed at the P & W and my room was good. The lift didn't work for a few days during one stay. I asked about a discount but the owner wouldn't give one. BTW good pub grub at the P & W.
  9. I agree, I've done both and like the 2 hour layover in NRT. I get free access to UA Red Carpet Club where the drinks are FREE (cheap Charley lubs FREE drinks). I have the time to grab some quality toilet time and the chance to smoke a few.
  10. I like the Majestic Suites around the corner from Nana Hotel. Clean with in room safe. Westin is another good property.
  11. Sky-Top and Tropical Bert fit your requirements. Both excellent value for the money.
  12. You could try putting the deed in your latest & greatest Thai girl friends name. I've heard that works out real well.
  13. It all depends on how long are you staying and the time of year. Good deals to be had if your staying over 14 days and it's low season. Talk to the hotel manager has he has the authority to negotiate prices. I used to email the managers of five hotels and tell the when I would arrive and what I was looking to pay. I always got a good deal in low season.
  14. Let's get one thing straight the Pattaya Marriott and Hard Rock Hotel are not 5 star hotels. At best they are 4 star. Decent places but nothing special. I've stayed at 5 star properties and they are a couple of cuts above what the Pattaya properties offer. When I take my family or do a Dad & Daughter trip I stay at better hotels as I know what I'm getting and yes, I pay for it out of my own pocket. When I travel on my own, I stay at places like Sky-Top or the Flippers. Clean, safe and reasonably priced. I'm getting ready to do a D & D trip and I won't be staying at Sky-Top.
  15. I fly 50K paid miles a year with United and I'm a Premier Executive in their FF program. I get 50% mileage bonus because of my status with them. I get on the plane first and I have use of the Red Carpet Club when I fly international. If I was an ordinary member of the FF program I'd draw only the actual miles flown and this apllies to the cheapest ticket UA sells. I can use my UA miles on any Star Alliance Airline.
  16. This is how I do it, I find out the manager's email and I let him know when I'm coming, how long I'll stay and I low ball the price I'll pay. I also let him know I'm emailing the mangers of 5 other high end properties in Pattaya and I'm looking for the best price. I'm usually able to get between 25 to 50% off the lowest discounted rate. The above only works for long stay and low season. BTW the hotel manager has the authority to offer deep discounts. quote I've used this system all over the world and it works quite well
  17. Thank you, I've worked very diligently on my "Adonis" physique over the years.
  18. McDonald's Burger King KFC Subway Pizza Hut Cheap Charley special, ya walk in and you know what your getting. No matter which one ya go to, damn near anywhere on this planet. No it's not necessary to thank the good ole USA for our world wide dominance as far as food culture goes. :
  19. Friend of mine who's been living in Asia for almost 40 years feels that Malaysia is the most expat friendly and generally speaking a low hassle country. S'pore where he lived for many years comes in second. Personally I like S'pore and except for the prices..........................
  20. Last time I stayed at the Marriott, I paid $62USD per night including tax, service charge and breakfast for two. This was a couple of years ago but I was able to get this price using my system, I described in a previous post.
  21. I'd be "chuffed" with the deal. You overpaid big time for a long stay during low season. At this time of the year 25 to 35 pounds per night would be easily attainable including breakfast for two and all taxes.
  22. Bert used to manage the Queen Vic..
  23. No BG work there but the pub grub is very good. Rooms are excellent value for the money and then there's the advantage of having soi 6 one soi over.
  24. I would strongly recommend the Twin Towers Hotel. Near the Sky-Train but far enough away from the nite life your kids would never suspect anything is going on. I've stayed there with my family and it's a fine hotel for the price.
  25. cnkbud, Have you made the trip to LOS? If you have what are you waiting for? Your health to go sour so you have a reason not to make the move? Come over for a few months rent a nice condo and see how you like it. Over the last year, I've had every body system checked out here in Philly in preparation for the move to LOS. Good thing I did as I was diagnosed with the bad skin cancer and since it was caught early before it had a chance to spread..............................
