I've stayed there a couple of times and it's good value for the money. Excellent fish and chips.

My wife has flown Egypt Air and was more then satisfied with the service.

Try and book 11 months in advance as this is the earliest you can book. Should be availability. If you can't book to BKK try SIN out BKK back to US. Cheap flights to BKK from SIN.
-
Cheapest flight from JFK-BKK on Cathay Pacific was $88USD return. With taxes it was $157. The fare was a mistake but they honored it. Second cheapest fare was Philly to SIN on NW for $325 including taxes.

I dumped one, one dumped me and I'm still with the third. Best one so far.

The guys who live here know all about the cheap hotel rooms on 3rd Road that go for 5-8K per month. Why pay more for a small studio?
-
I always ask for the upgrade and I've had the most luck with BA. Couple of trips ago as a premier executive level member with UA, I was upgraded to business on the NRT-BKK leg. I gave it to my wife . BTW, I always fly on the cheapest of the cheap ticket. Ya, I'm a cheap Charley with the airlines also. Another time with UA on the BKK-NRT leg they assigned one seat to two of us. The other guy was in the seat first. He had a big shit eating smile when I talked to him about it. I go to the FA and they upgrade me to business. When I walked by him, I stop and smile and continue with the FA up front.

Some Thai women will give you all the drama you can handle and more. Lot of crazy women out there. Some guys have the idea they are docile, demure, doormats. They are in for a big surprise . I've been married to three American girls. All quality women.

I've stayed there a few times and it's a excellent bargain. The studio I stayed in had in room safe, 25"TV, fridge. Guest friendly. Only think I didn't like was the walk in the sun up to 2nd Road. I paid 500 per day.

Thailand has three seasons, hot, damn hot and fucking damn hot. Guess which one you vacationing in. Try and stay at a hotel that has in room safe. You need 500 baht for the airport tax when you leave. Enjoy your stay.

I've endured two won't do a third.

For the price it's more then decent and you don't have to spend a couple of hundred more for a room that's larger. Places like Sky-Top are good value for guys looking to save some money for the two weeks their there. I agree the owner should buy four more safes and bolt them down. BTW since, I've never been to your bar, I'd never tell guys to go someplace else that's decent.

IMHO way overpriced but if chumps are willing to overpay. Who am I to stop them. I met a guy on one trip and he was telling me he was considering buying a studio in Jomtiem and was going to rent it out. I offered him 4 or 5 K per month to rent. He looked at me like I was crazy but when I mentioned all the rooms on 3rd Road available for 5K plus utilities his dreams of becoming the next Donald Trump were dashed. Personally I like the idea of owning my own place but with the prices being asked, why bother. Cheaper to rent. Plus if I don't like how the building is being managed or I get lousy neighbors, etc. It's easy to move.

I think it good value for the money.Yes the rooms are small but so is the price. The owner is responsive when there's a problem. Place is clean, one block from the beach and around the corner from soi 6.

No it doesn't take three to four hours to get to Patts. Bit longer then a car but not all that much. I've never been put on a non ac bus.

best place to meet board members ?
BigDUSA replied to floppyjack's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
There's a big section your unable to view unless you join the members section. Well worth the time to join. It's free. BTW Alamo Bar on soi 8 has at least one member (me) that hangs out there. There are a few board members who are some of the greatest guys you would ever meet. BTW, I'm one of them. Just don't loan me money. -
The salary offered can provide a guy who doesn't qualify for a pension with a legit job with work permit and a more then decent lifestyle. Then again many guys on this forum go thru life looking down at their shoes and wonder why they never see the opportunities life has to offer.
-
I've taken the bus from Pattaya to BKK many times and it's a viable option. For the guys who get in late at night car service is the only way to go.

No you don't need to be bi lingual. I've been told many government schools will have a Thai teaching assistant to help you. If your interested in teaching check out www.ajarn.com

I was going to take my daughter to Hong Kong Disneyland for spring break but she doesn't want to do it this year. She wants to wait until next year.

The bars are less crowded in May but still jumping. Lots of hotel deals to be had. Come on down.

The two drugs I use for blood pressure cost $50USD per month in LOS. I pay $20 for them in the US. It probably would work out with a lot less hassle to just pay the $50 and be done with it.
-
My health plan here in the US covers drugs. I plan on having them sent to LOS by my local pharmacy.

I like Pattaya as a vacation destination, I have my doubts if my wife and I will live there when we make the move. My wifes a registered nurse who specializes in drug and alcohol addiction. I think she'd have a lot of customers if she set's up her practice in Pattaya.
