Thanks, Hammer. You saved me a trip

FLB has Singha Light, and if I recall correctly (it's late), it's 3.5% rather than the usual 5% alcohol level (aside from Chang and Beer Lao Dark, which are over 6%). Also, Singha Light is 90 calories vs about 150 calories in Heineken and most other 5% beers.

Fuck if I know! Anyway, all I know is that I have to apply for another whatchamajigger in 17 days. Oh, and thanks. Good to be back.

I've not seen this at all. Twice I have left the country and returned on an about-to-expire 1 year visa. The first time, I had 7 days left on my one year visa, and the stamp said I had to leave the country or apply for a visa in ... 7 days. The second time (last night), I had a visa expiring on Nov 10, 2010. My arrival was Oct 23, 2010. The amount of time given me on this entry was 17 or 18 days...until Nov 10, 2010. So, whenever I have reentered the country on a 1 year visa (retirement or business), the stamp is good until the visa expiration date, and in some cases, that can be a very short time.

I just got back from a 10 day holiday in the USA and, on two occasions, had a half a bottle of wine in a day. When not in holiday mode, that is, when I am here in Thailand, I don't have my first drink until 10pm or later (I like to push it to 11pm or midnight). On some special occasions, like a party in the bar, or visiting a friend's bar early before going to FLB, I'll have a drink or two after 8pm. I find that messes up my night. I am a light drinker, an easy drunk, and don't find anything wrong with that, since for what little I drink, I can usually count on going home soused. The problem is when some long absent friend comes to the bar and wants to buy Jack Daniels or premium tequilas. You guys know who you are . That usually ends up as a train wreck for me, because I am normally a beer drinker, and it messes up my pace. The difference for me is that being here in Thailand, I drink nearly every day, at least 320 days a year (with maybe 40 days out of town or the country), so it's definitely a lot of drinking, no matter how I try to moderate it. I'm not complaining!

Btw, FLB staff will be doing their best to get into the Halloween spirit on the 31st. If you're into bar fining a ghoul, a vampire or some other horrific creature, FLB is the place to be on Halloween

Brian, no flames from me. It sounds like a good plan. Beats moving here after a few Holidays with all your earthly belongings and getting a big surprise when you find that expat mode isn't for you.

Old Cherry Bar Girl Offering Airport Taxi Service

Antics of a Pattaya bar? Couldn't you have come up with something a little more dismissive? I'm disappointed. -
Might be true. I've never knowingly encountered any Mafia influence or had any contacts with them while running a business here. I'm sure they are out there doing their thing, but it's not all pervasive as some might think, even in the P4P scene that I deal with.

Yeah, it's almost as if Vic is just trolling today, since this has been done to death.

I think the issues with Skytop are not so much about the guest house, which is plain and average for the area, but about the fact that the owner came on the board and touted it as if he were a satisfied customer (see here)...and that BigD kept spamming it year after year. It is what it is, but to use underhanded, deceptive methods to tout it, or to have a BM pushing it whenever an accommodation question comes up makes it a target.

I know I've seen the pics somewhere...maybe facebook? -
That's quite an ordeal getting back from the bar crawl to Naklua. You guys should have voted for Walking Street It would have been just as bad if you'd had a car or tried to get back by any other means. Road closures and flooding affect everyone no matter what mode of transport.

FWIW I've been riding a scooter daily for the last six years. It's just so convenient compared to other alternatives. On the other hand I'm generally very nervous about motorbike taxi drivers.

Nice of them. And, you are right. The ThaiBev information about Mekhong does link to that site run out of Scotland. Their July 2010 newletter does not refer to Mekhong being closed, but they do mention new Chang Drinking Water. So, why can't we order Mekhong!

FWIW, that site is run out of Scotland by International Beverage Holdings Limited UK Office Moffat Distillery Airdrie Scotland ML6 8PL

There are board members who report paying over what dontcha feels is the correct amount. They are reporting their experiences, and from what I can see, are not bragging...just saying what they did and paid. Hell, I almost always pay 1000-1500 for a ST from a gogo dancer. I'm not bragging. I'm just saying that's the way I do it. And, for me, I consider that a fair deal.

Goodness gracious! Wound up pretty tight lately?

Great contribution to the thread. Care to elaborate? Do you not believe that the Thai police are turning a blind eye to some activities due to payoffs? What exactly is 'bullshit' in the statement you responded to? Or were you just having a Tourette's moment?

Okay, getting serious. What kind of fire escape are you looking for? Are you referring to one of these? or this Just what, at a minimum, constitutes a fire escape?
