  1. Simon, without the details of the lease itself and other importatnt relevant information, any answer you get here will be useless. Many lawyers around Pattaya will offer you an initial free opinion, PM me if you need some recommendations. Cheers : Admiral Ken
  2. Why dont you just chill out and show some fucking respect for the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZACs)? Australians remember this day in a very special way, RESPECT (at the many dawn services) followed by a celebration of their (the ANZACs) efforts. It's not an American holiday so leave them out of it! My Grandfather was a survivor from Gallipoli and I am proud to say I have a connection to someone who helped define the word "bravery". Australians dont (as a rule) show disrespect for other countries "celebrations" of their fallen heroes - so why do you want to turn th
  3. Snidely, great to hear that you found what you wanted. S&J are a good bunch, though a bit expensive sometimes, and I've bought lots of stuff there. They have a workshop out back and will do custom work if you need it. In the market area you need to venture into a shop in the inside corner (hard to describe it any other way) and then wander around the aisles into the depths of the unknow before you find them. Lots of hidden treasures in that place, some of which may have been there for centuries LOL. Cheers : Admiral Ken
  4. Dave, Koh Si Chang has them, I'm heading up there in the next week so will get the name for you if I remember You can try this -> http://www.ko-sichang.com/stay.html as the information is still fairly accurate. We go up there infrequently these days but I've just been informed of som good fishing spots up there so it may become a more regular venue. Cheers : Admiral Ken
  5. The market on th ecorner of Sai 2 Soi 16 and Sai 3 (Third Rd) has them in various full scale amounts. I have 1kg, 2kg and 5kg units froim there. Sorry but cant remember the price but the quality was good as Ive been using them now for well over a year without problems. To get there go down 3rd road from Pattaya Tai (towards Jomtien / Bali Hai Pier) and it is on the right at the first set of traffic lights. If you turn right at those lights it's Sai 2 Soi 16, on the left is Sai 3 Soi 17. Cheers : Admiral Ken
  6. Soi Lengkee. About half way down on the side opposite to Opey de Place Cheers : Admiral Ken
  7. Thanks, will go in and talk to them tomorrow and report back for anyone interested. It's going to be interesting to see the look on their face if they want to send an emgineer when I tell them that we want it to work BETWEEN here and the other side of Koh Larn LOL Cheers : Admiral Ken
  8. Malakor do you have personal experience with the 3G packages from Hutch? The Edge/GPRS is very slow correct. They are quoting speeds of 2.4Mbps on their website, is this figure realistic and what area can you maintain this? Any info from anyone with experience would help as we need something faster for the boat. Cheers : Admiral Ken
  9. In the past I could buy Vegemite from a number of places (Friendship and Foodland) but since the Oz dollar started to rise significantly there no longer seems to any supply. Please don't extoll the virtues of Marmite etc., I've tried them and it's not the same. Cheers : Admiral Ken
  10. Not bloody likely. They're all on the other side of the island Cheers : Admiral Ken
  11. You know what my "issues" are, or did you forget? Barrief asked a legitimate question that was within the realm of my business and now you have chosen to suggest that I go to purgatory. You have told me that you don't like me but after spending a "shit load" of money in your bar I would at least expect some cross support. Instead you have NEVER even walked into my establishment and there has been no lack of invitations. We'll leave your "Ed never worked for me but he just sat in the corner" comments to another day. .. and the abosolute kicker when I complained about your staff
  12. Yes it was a good question. Contentious , you obviously haven't looked in "Purgatory" for a while. Cheers : Admiral Ken
  13. I agree with you 100%. It's very much like bars, particularly some on Walking Street. Some have facilities that haven't been upgraded for years and the same old run down attitude. When others have newly appointed interiors and state of the art facilities. Some charge 100 Baht for a 7 baht Coke or a 5 Baht soda, whereas others give you value for money with their drinks and lady-drinks. Some rip you off by adding drinks to your bin and have management who dont care , yet others do their utmost to look after their customers. I know my Baht now goes to the ones who provide a be
  14. Boxing Roo - 3rd Road Valentines - Soi Lengkee Roo Bar - Walking St Cheers : Admiral Ken
  15. There is a Family Mart across the road with an ATM To get to WS From RG walk out the front door and turn right. Continue straight and walk under the overpass (~200m) and straight, down to a T intersection (~100m). Turn right and proceed down the left side of the road to Soi Marine area (~150m) From here you have 3 options: - The road on your left is Soi 17, walk down this all the way will take you to the Pier end of Walking St. - Walk down Soi 17 about 100m and turn right into the Arab area (you'll know it from the wailing sounds) and you can then walk through the bars onto WS ju
  16. LOL, I know Randy and thanks for the recommendation. The information was for those that hadn't been on my boat, unlike you. The 4500B price was sound inlogic too : think about it. They take 15 on this particular boat at 300B each. A full boat would be 4500B so that's what they asked for. For Thais it's amazingly sound logic - albeit lacking in any discount. There are different sized speedboats around as well, some of them would only hold 10 people at max and using the same logic a fee of 3000B could be achieved I'm sure. Cheers : Admiral Ken PS Stop lusting after my woman Stuy
  17. The quote I got was to take you from beach to beach. I asked about them waiting for the "group" but it was more of a "you tell us how long stay and someone come back take you next beach" answer. Remember that these "boats" have no fishing gear, snorkelling, reasonable toilet facilities etc so I wasn't shocked at the 8000B figure. If that's your thing and you spread it over 15 people it's under 550B per person. My boat on the other hand has multiple decks, all equipment supplied, cooking facilities and even a hot water shower, not to mention the falang toilet. For 15 people the cost is
  18. OK, I dropped into the booking offices at Bali Hai Pier today and got some information for you. Speedboat hire to Koh Larn is 300B per person (return, ie go and come back included) . Maximum 15 pax and you dont get to go until they either have a full boat or they are convinced there are no more customers coming. The outward journey is variable but the return is between 4pm and 5pm - up to them. For this you get dropped at ONE beach on Koh Larn and left there until they pick you up for the return. You can not stay on the boat and ther are no real facilities. Alternatively you can hire
  19. Barrief, you can hire speedboats from the Bali Hai Pier for trips to and from the islands. I'm not certain about costs but will check tomorrow for you when I'm down at the pier. Alternatively you could hire a boat for the day to cruise around at your leisure. We do day trips to the near islands with swimming, fishing and snorkelling from 12000 Baht for the entire day. We also have a jetski for hire (no crazy shit from us) and an inflatable with outboard. The islands and areas we visit are MUCH cleaner than anything on Koh Larn and are a much more private experience. If you insist
  20. Ahh shit ..... and I had finally managed to convince myself that it was just a nightmare. Cheers : Admiral Ken
  21. I think you'll find that it's a combination of a few maritime/fishing traditions. The bell was rang in many fishing villages to signify the succesful return of the fleet and the subsequent revalry when they arrived in port. A ships master who had a good catch would ring the bell to thank Posiedon (Neptune) for his involvement in their luck and a toast would foillow to the God of the seas. The bell would ring again when a round was bought for the crew in thanks for their efforts. Bells and ships have a long history and you will be hard pressed to find any tavern near water that doe
  22. I had to look it up as I forgot the exact date (see quote below) On that day my 2nd wife and I were wandering through Moscow and saw tanks racing through the main streets. From a bridge looking out over the White House we saw what was to soon be the demise of Communist Russia and the start of a complete descent into capitalism. We had no idea at the time what all the fuss was about. Unfortunately the photos I took that day were all thrown out by my last wife. Cheers : Admiral Ken Credits to lindsayfincher.com
  23. It sounds more like a hardware issue than software if it's playing up with different programs. Frosty couls also be right about the disks but if Thai disks were that bad you'd expect to see a lot more complaints about them on local forums than there are now. Cleaning the drive head is a good suggestion and is a more likely cause. I do on average a couple a day (on a bloody boat) and get almost 0 failure rate with the cheap Thai stuff. Probably around 1 in 50 or 1 in 100. Try using burn4free (http://www.burn4free.com/) and select the verify opton. This will check to see that you indeed have
  24. I think the place Randy and a few others are talking about is called Bpu Bpen (live crab) It has a large blue swimming crab outside and the qulity there is BLOODY excellent. I was there 2 nights ago with the big-fella and our girls, great feed and the cost was reasonable considering. The Walking Street seafood restaurants now seem to be all owned by Russians and the prices are touristy with lousy quality. I refuse to grace their doors again. Most of them appear to be owned by the King seafood chain. The other PRIME place for seafood is Sinuan at Na Jomtien. It's expensive but has
  25. We were out on the water yesterday afternoon/evening and the swell was around 1.5 - 2.0m so that's really not a lot of news.Wind gusts were up to 35km/h. Yeah it was cold, but FFS it's still a lot better than many other places, even on a bad day. The funniest comment was from my captain who claimed that the wind yesterday was the result of the tsunami in Japan. I just had to shake my head and walk away. BTW the boats sink predominately because they are not maintained AT ALL. I'm waiting for the inevitable day when one of the "always overloaded" Koh Larn ferries sink and do huge damage
