  1. I see all your points. Have you taken a look at his Tennis and Fitness centre? It is really quite nice actually. There's a big pool, saunas, steam, cold pool, jacizzis, spinning classes, and 24 hours. Somehow I think Tony isn't hurting too much for cash. Isn't his dance club on walking street still packed each night? I have only been inside once and didn't like it, especially the drink prices, but I see loads of people heading in there when I walk past.
  2. I thought about that as well. But you can see Tony is putting a lot of work/expansions into these fitness operations. I figure Tony has at least 20 more years until he retires and sells his operations off. So, not all bad for 15,000B.
  3. That's what I thought! I love lifetime memberships. I bought my NWA Worldclubs membership a number of years ago and have no regrets.
  4. I went ahead and bought the lifetime membership for 15,000B -- no more dues ever. The price sheet said the regular price for lifetime is 30,000B. At either price, the lifetime seems like a fantastic deal, especially when it is even open 24 hours. Anyway the pool is really nice, and the machines are all in good shape. Hopefully I can lose some of this spare tire around my waist sometime. :)
  5. I also agree the best place to do all your furniture shopping is probably Index on Sukhumvit, near Central Pattaya. They have all price ranges, and many brands. You can just about get everything there. There is one big big problem there -- they say they need at least 1 week to do the delivery, and seem very adamant. You will be lucky to get an earlier delivery, but possible. Otherwise for quick delivery, I like the furniture shop on North Pattaya road, right next to 3rd road intersection. They have a good selection of furniture. As with any privately owned furniture shop you can alwa
  6. Yes that's right. You just never know. You can't own the view.
  7. Better for each of your friends to buy their own studio units I think -- could be all in the same building.
  8. I can't help but notice this web site says the prices are "as of June 2003". It's already 2007.
  9. I don't know what dates you're thinking of. If you're interested I have studio condos for rent at 14,000B/m (price including all utilities) at View Talay Condo 1. http://www.ViewTalayCondos.com. I keep my condos in top condition, so you won't be "slumming it".
  10. Sounds like you'll be spending a lot of time in that sofa then. I think most "apartments" will have some sort of sofa or loveseat. Many apartments rent by the night as well.
  11. These are the kind of pics you show your relatives back home! Well done!
  12. I always have the buffet at the casino as well. Star Vegas casino has an open dim sum bar near the gambling tables as well that is very good. It seems to be 100B minimum on the Blackjack tables everywhere I go.
  13. You no longer feel welcome? Thailand will always welcome you and your cash, I assure you. :) Anyway, you've seen http://www.talesofasia.com I assume?
  14. Silversand swimming pool looks very nice. I never saw the inside of the grounds before seeing your photos.
  15. I thought that was an interesting article. But the article didn't say if this applies to all of Thailand or what, and if this applies to houses or to condos. Anyway, I don't see that Pattaya condos will fall 20% this year. There are many skeptics who would love to see themselves proved right, and see condo prices fall -- but I doubt it will happen. Will it affect increases in the coming year? yes maybe. Now I could see prices fall a bit in Bangkok, since condo prices in Sukhumvit and anywhere in CBD are so high now. The bomb scares could be the news to bring those prices down jus
  16. Carrfour in central pattaya has an active posting board with 2nd hand cars listed. Anyway, I have a 2nd hand car and it has been working well. Honda Accord is a good choice, as the parts are everywhere.
  17. yes please let us know the prices. thnx for the report.
  18. We're talking the Marriot Hotel here, not the Areca. Marriot costs big bucks no matter where in the world you go.
  19. fantastic recommendation. the kids would love the pool there.
  20. I love drinking on the long haul flights, but now my regular airline NWA started charging $5 for each drink! No way am I paying that. I may have to look for other airlines, because that's just cruel on a long flight... Anyway, when I have a chance I always ask for 2 beers on each order! The flight attendants appreciate that, since they know you won't be bothering them again so soon.
