Displayed prices are for multiple nights. Check the site for price per night. I see hostels starting at 200b/day and hotels from 500b/day on agoda.

Bangkok Hotel with parking
dotcom_OD replied to c5vette's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
ONe other addition to those mentioned is the Dynasty. It is not a long term parking lot but if you are staying there you can park espcially at the back of the hotel. Of course the best one's are all previously mentioned from Landmark, Majestic, Nana, etc. -
I have only flown on Evergreen deluxe. If you are on a tight budget but want more space and somewhat personal service over cattle class, then this is the best way to go. As for seat assignment online, they only block certain seats for you to choose from. The better seats are left to the airline. I could have booked the seats online buy waited for the day I was leaving and came in to airport early for best seat selection. The airline had better seat selection than what was available online.

Bella Villa Prima v/s Sunshine Vista
dotcom_OD replied to Rogueacronym's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I can safely say that my sheets are cleaned everyday and changed daily because I express that desire early on the first day I arrive in any hotel. I also tip a minimum of 20 - 50 baht per day to the cleaning lady. This sometimes equates to double that if there are two cleaning ladies that clean the rooms. It is still worth it as I also ask to have a minimum of 5 towels since I shower often and use that much with the women I bring back to the room. Tip accordingly and show your appreciation for their efforts. It pays you back tenfold. -
nice to see humour brought to the board...thanks monkeyman

Nico is correct. Do not drink alcohol on the flight to BKK. Also keep rehydrated by drinking lots of liquid. One other observation I have is I prefer taking flights that arrive in the morning over flights that arrive late at night or like 2:00 A.M. Just my own experiences that work.

Pratamnak or Pratumnak (spelled different ways in different maps), is a major road from South Pattaya road to Jomtien. If you have been to either The Golden Buddha or Royal Cliff house/beach, you have used this road. Definitely not the boonies here.

Ultra-thin Lubricated Condoms
dotcom_OD replied to jakedsnake's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Unless I am proven otherwise...Durex Avanti which is the polyurethane condom is not sold in LOS. I have seen only latex Durex condoms in the pharmacies and groceries. -

Hotel w Internet and Guest friendly
dotcom_OD replied to spoojebob's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I believe the Whitehouse Condotel on Soi 13 also has internet access and is guest friendly. Do a search on the boards on the accomodation subject posts. -
Discrimination against farang in LOS is evident with some people, but discrimination against bargirls...now this is bad... I feel that any discrimination is wrong. I have been fortunate with bahtbus drivers that I have hired that I tend to joke with them when negotiating fare. This helps in getting a fair price, having a thai girl with me increases that chance too.

Rodeooo, you should share your travel agent with us BM's. It does help to have good information for great values such as air travel.

Yes they are limited. The two I usually use because of one factor that I prefer is a direct flight and of the airlines that have this route only two have a direct flight that I know of. One is Thai airways and the other is Philippine airlines. I tend to fly Philippine only becuase they are cheaper over Thai.

Michelangelo, it would be good to share the name of the estate agent and where his address is for those that would like to deal with a straight up company. thanks in advance.

Marriott Pattaya and Bangkok has not charged me a guest fee ever, and the staff have not cornered me to pay a joiner fee at all. As for the Phuket Hilton, I stayed there in April, and again, no guest fee, during my whole trip and the service was excellent. My take on this is I would never pay a joiner fee to any hotel. It is a racket~!!!...I do not know any country that does this to a tourist. My suggestion is to be discreet, when entering a hotel of this caliber and not attract attention. Keep in mind that these type of hotels cater to families too, and just want to satisfy all part

Fried frogs legs are good, but you need more than a handful as them frogs are malnourished...

Tuphux, this being your first post, welcome. Now, do a search on your numerous questions both in the General Discussion about Pattaya, and Hotel and Accomodation areas. This will give you some insight on your inquiries in order to narrow them down. Have you been to Pattaya?...My feelings are you have not, then my recommendations would be to visit and get a feel for the city, people and infrastructure, tourists sights, hospitals , etc. then make you determination on your needs. I believe one of the Sabai Resorts has a 2 bedroom villa at the back end of the resort. Another one to co

Recommendations for chiropractor
dotcom_OD replied to jackcorbett's topic in Doctors, Dentists, Clinics and Hospitals
Try looking around for an acupuncturist instead. They can do wonders on pain management such as a pinched nerve, this just from my experience, as I go to one instead of a chiropractor now. -
I would cross with a Thai. Keep in mind that there was a comment made that you have to pay for your stay all at once when you check in. Up to you~!!!

shortest time between trips
dotcom_OD replied to bigfoot's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
December went back to Bay Area, had to leave at the end of December/January to the Philippines on a family business, then off to Pattaya in between...:) -
I prefer Skype for VOIP over Vonage because it is free. Here is a traveling headset/mouse designed by Sony which is ingenious and a better product than carrying a headset. http://dynamism.com/skype-mouse/main.shtml

I am not from the UK grs90...but from what you have described and my own experiences booking flights to and from the US to Asia, given the month that you are planning your trip. Wait for a good sale price. You can book later in the year. One suggestion, is to regularly check the consolidators and the airline websites for monthly deals. You will eventually hit paydirt. Even as far out as after September, prices drop down dramatically since this is slow season. Don't you worry booking this early, I can see a better deal down the line.

David thank you very much for that info. Dave, I apologize for reading the post wrong. My eyes do wreak havoc on me lately, with small type on the screen. I stand corrected. -
800 Baht from Pattaya to the Airport - OK?
dotcom_OD replied to StandIn's topic in Meeting - Cost sharing
Conley I can only comment on my experiences with limo/taxi services to and from Bangkok airport or hotels to Pattaya. I can say that most taxis or services prefer that you be upfront and declare information such as how many are riding in the taxi. The issue here is 300 baht, a mere pittance to you and I. I know you are right in your defense, but this is Thailand, they do think differently from you and I so they feel compensation is needed for changes in their agreed plan. Just be grateful he did not leave you in the lurch at 6:00 AM and trying to find a taxi to Bangkok, quickly enough tha -
The big issue is the quality of the tobacco sold in Thailand. If you are lucky to find Prince cigarettes which come from Germany, I believe ( I happen to try it from a friend), they are sold in corner stores, they are not bad. But for the most part the cigarettes sold in Thailand are made in the Philippines whether they are Marlboro, or any other major brand, filter and/or menthols. The duty free cigarettes have far superior grade tobacco leaves. Of course we will all die in due time, whatsoever brand it is!!!
