Can't argue with that, maybe just add Burdiehouse to make it complete. Regards

I wasn't too far from you, I was born and spent my formative years in Gracemount. Sorry drifting off topic. Regards

Cheers Tom, I'm from the south side of Edinburgh myself. Regards

Just download the book from Amazon onto my Kindle £2.99 (great value), looking forward to reading it, then seeing the film, always prefer that order if possible. Cheers for the heads up Tom, never heard about the book or film until this thread. Regards

My Ebook is available and for sale
Fireman Sam replied to LBJ's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Keep us updated when part two is available, I will purchase it. Sci-fi books not really my thing, but best of luck with that one. Regards -
A bit of further research reveals that they only renew a maximum of nine months ahead of the renewal date. Quote below is from the passport direct website. 'When should I renew my passport?' You can apply for a passport renewal a maximum of 9 months before your old passport expires, please save yourself any last minute panic and apply early! Any excess time on your old passport will be transferred to your new one. I would be looking at renewing around sixteen months early, just hope the Thai immigration officers before then are even more sloppy at sticking entry and exit s

Cheers Jacko, Yes will definitely renew in the UK. Regards

Thanks for the information Tom, will come in handy in the future. Does anybody know if you can renew your British passport before it is full. My passport is due for renewal in December 2016, but I'm due to retire in August 2015, there will probably be only a few pages, if that, left by then. I don't want to apply for my retirement visa and re-entry stamp then have to move the whole lot to a new passport the following year if I can avoid it. If possible would suit me to get a new passport in 2015. Regards

Not a bad read at all LBJ, a lot of emotions that I think quite a few BM's could relate to. The ending got me wasn't expecting that at all. We'll done great effort. Regards -
General Election - Impact for Tourists
Fireman Sam replied to CheshireTom's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Impacted myself last night, I was on the Vibhavadi Rangsit Tollway in Bangkok at 18.30 when the police really aggressively stopped and pulled everyone to one side, absolutely chaos as you can imagine. Held us there for at least fifteen minutes, then the biggest cavalcade I have seen of police motorcycles, black BMW,s and accompanying mini vans came belting past with all the lights and horns blaring, first time I have ever seen them stopping the traffic on the tollways. Sign of the times I suppose. No great shakes not being able to drink for a few weekends, as always in Thailand there are -
Fashion Issues When Watching Sport On The Box

Looks a pretty upmarket Singha wife beater singlet that. Most of the tramps/expats around here only wear low class Chang, Leo or Beer Lao faded wife beater singlets. Spot on with 100 baht shorts and a pair of mismatched crocs. lol. Regards -
Looks likely they will start on the 28th May next year. http://www.qatarairways.com/uk/en/press-release.page?pr_id=pressrelease_131120-launch-to-edinburgh&locale_id=en_gl Regards

Just downloaded it from Amazon onto my Kindle for the pricely sum of £2.02 UK, might take a while to get round to reading it as I have a bit of a backlog of books waiting to be read on the Kindle. Regards -
Still can't find any confirmed start dates yet, maybe will depend on the 787 deliveries. Yes the new business class/seats look good on the 787, I fly into BKK from DOH on Friday on their 777 in business, looking forward to being pampered for a while anyway, LOL. Regards
-
Might be ok for myself, just not sure about their 787 in economy. Still good to have more options available. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-edinburgh-east-fife-25019495?SThisFB Regards

A few photos of Boracy, Philippines...... part 1
Fireman Sam replied to firth1974's topic in Pictorial Travel Reports
Great photos, thanks for sharing, hopefully get there someday. Regards -
I used to avoid their 777's because of the ten across in economy. I used to quite like travelling on Emirates A380's, even in economy especially when you could book seat 68 A, K or 81 A, K which gave unlimited leg room and direct access. But they are now thinking of fitting out their A380's with 11 across in economy, not travelled with them for a few now, very very unlikely I would touch them if they go ahead with this. http://www.businesstraveller.asia/news/emirates-eyes-11-across-seating-on-a380 Regards
-
Travelled in Emirates business class A380 quite a few times, always thought it was decent enough especially if you get a window seat reasonably private. Certainely better than Qatar's business class 777, A340, and A330 product IMHO. Regards

Bangkok Trip Report, 21 Years Ago, w/ Photos
Fireman Sam replied to RhinoTusk's topic in Pictorial Travel Reports
Great Stuff, thanks. Regards -
I would not live in Pattaya now, stayed there in the early eighties, doesn't hold much attraction for me nowadays, only visit occasionally to see friends and old neighbours. Stay one to two days max now. Been living in Nakhon Phanom for the last seven years or thereabout. Main reason for coming to live here was my wife (or wifey as some BM would say) hails from here, but really happy living here. Reasons I like it, it feels like Thailand, not too many farangs (well initially), really really friendly locals, relatively low crime rate, I have more Thai than farangs friends, very little tra

As the original video portrays an absolute nightmare for non English speakers. It is not until you try and help somebody learn that you realise how hard it can be for them. My Thai daughter who is reasonably good at English asks me the other day how do you pronounce "exhausted" she says "I know it means to be tired". So I explain the pronunciation and the also explain the connotation if you were maybe looking for something or body it could be used as in " I've exhausted every avenue". So puzzled look ensues, then she pipes up "what about our Vigo it is exhausted or not" arrg bloody hel

No not at all, I have done it on numerous occasions over the past few years, especially good if just travelling with hand luggage only. Regards

Good post, only add-on I can think of is to buy the day-pass ticket, can work out a lot cheaper if you criss cross Bangkok all day as I always seem to do. Last one I bought was 120 baht but around 6 months ago, price may have increased since then ? Regards
