I have seen some recent photos of the rooms. Based on those I would give this place a pass. The place is very run down and shabby. I think you can do much better, even in that price range. Guido

Anyone stayed in Lidobeach hotel ?
guido13 replied to Toppie's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
If you want to be close to Walking Street this place is very good. http://www.thevaultpattaya.com/ The owner, Michael is a good guy and usually answers e-mail inquiries within 24 hours. I stayed there in Nov and have no complaints. Here is a pic, many others on the website. Please note that there is no pool or restaurant. Guido -
Areca is guest friendly, no worries. Guido

The property next door has a chicken coop and the rooster starts his noisy antics at about 4:00 am. Everything else is very good. Guido

Do the Flippers have in room safe? No mention on the web site. Guido

That girl in the orange was super hot. I was mesmerized when she was dancing. On My Way practically predicted the runner outcome. I guess girls from Atlantic Bar look great but, unless you have gobs of money to spend the outcome usually isn't good. Too bad she bolted as that could have been quite a conquest. Great party, nonetheless. Thanks Guido

Baht bus drivers overcharging?
guido13 replied to Mescalito's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
No problems in this area for me. I pay in coins mostly. If I pay with a 20, I stick out my hand for change. Guess I have been lucky, no drive offs. As far as paying extra for the girl when she is with you, makes no sense but I pay as I don't have any desire to make a stink over 5 Baht. It's all part of the get falang to pay more conspiracy. Try taking a BG shopping and watch the salesgirls encourage the BG to purchase the most expensive items available. Your the mark, and everyone wants a piece. But we can always say the magic word, NO. Thanks Guido -
I can recommend the Belvedere Hotel on West 48th Street. It is in the heart of the theatre district. Good midtown location. Rooms are modern and clean, but small(many NY hotels are). Good friendly staff also. Rates are reasonable by NYC standards.LOL Try this website: www.hotelbelvederenewyork.com Good Luck Guido

I tried to make a reservation at the Thai Archer as it seemed a good value at 600 Bht per night. It took them a full 2 weeks to reply to my e-mail. By then I had made another reservation elsewhere. I'm interested to see KJ's take on the place. Guido

Condoms, a stiff dick, and a fat wallet. Guido

Soi7 You tempt me with these posts. I keep telling myself I can't afford to move to Pattaya and you consistently prove me wrong. Maybe I'll make the move sooner than I planned. Thanks Guido

Wow, that's depressing. Guido

Early Retirement or work another 5 years?
guido13 replied to York's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
York Some food for thought about Social Security. The $1200 a month figure is calculated with the assumption that you will continue to work until you are 65 and maintain your present income level. If you stop working now, your Social Security will be much less, as the amount you recieve largely depends on your earnings during the 15 years before age 65. Check out the Social Security website. They explain the system very well. Thanks Guido -
If you have your draft on Sept 10 you may have some problems as the NFL season starts on Sept 8. Thanks Guido

Pat The Areca is very nice but 1695 per night is too high IMO. I don't know about the other hotels listed. Perhaps give Sabai Inn a try(www.sabaiinn.com). Most reports say good things and I don't think that they increase rates as much as Areca for high season. Guido

Best way to avoid the so called walk of shame... Sleep alone. Thanks Guido

Not a bad deal. I just booked for end of Oct at $583 plus 20,000 miles. Thats from Dallas/Fort Worth round trip. Prior to this the cheapest fare for the same time period was $962 on an American/Eva combo. Northwest certainly is not a great carrier but at these fares they earn my business. A $370 airfare savings goes a long way in LOS. BigD hope you're proud. Guido

I stayed at Areca on my first trip. Nice hotel, good breakfast buffet. I also used their car service back to BKK. Slightly overpriced but a new car, safe driver and very pleasant Thai music. I think you will be pleased with both the hotel and car. Thanks Guido PS -Don't give them your credit card info. Tell them you will not give the CC info unless they have a secure connection. Most likely they will back off of the demand.

Thanks for the info guys. Very much appreciated. Guido

Anyone stayed or have any info on the Sunview Place on soi Buakhao. I found the website. It has a few pics. Looks ok. I sent an email asking about weekly rates in Nov. They replied by sending a copy of my email back, but no info. If anyone has any info on this hotel I would appreciate it. Thanks Guido My mistake. I just took a closer look at the website and they state they only offer discounts on monthly stays. Maybe thats the reason for the blank reply. Still would like some info if anyone has had a look. Thanks again Guido

Kind of a strange handle you are using sir. You might take some heat on this board. Guido
