  1. The Lobster Pot on Walking street quickly became my favorite. Yoiu get a "sea view" (actually gulf view) table with 2 waiters/ress attending to your every need. Lobster and Steak for B1500 includes all the trimmings. A little pricey by LOS standards but most excellent by every degree. Cooked exactlly tar-tar as requested, the steak was phenomenol. However, they serve their lobster (everywhere in Thaiand?) without drawn butter. Not good in my opinion. Had to ask for that and was given a queer response. lol. a cultural thing, i guess. the Lobster Post is located on Walking street. close to Lucier's Disco (If I remeber correctly..and yes.. .I was there), it competes with a number of restaurants in the area. I recommend it. Just be careful when you order. If you try to "combine" plates, you will be served BOTH plates (and charged accordingly). lol. No tip is necessary, but after this great service you will feel compelled to do so.
  2. for that most unpleasant slight I may not tell you of what happened to me on SOI 6 in Trinity Arch Bar during my first night in Pattaya.
  3. I don't think you need TCs. Just bring a few debit cards and you'll be fine. No problem with ATMs at all, and there are many! (remember to tell your bank you'll be going to Asia so the transaction won't be flagged by bank software as possibly fraudulent).
  4. Can't say too much about Sabaii Lodge as I only stayed there one night in January of 2006. I came to this hotel upono default from literally running as fast as I could from the Welkon Inn just next door. Both hotels are located on SOI 2 and have many common advantages to other lodings. To wit, close access to both beach road and 2nd road. Sabaii Massage just a few meters away, about 5 beer bars on the same SOI, many nice bars along 2nd road. 10 Baht will get you to walking street in about 5 minutes, or you can walk and do a bar crawl down beach road and get there in about 30 minutes. But that is where the similarites end.. Sabaii Lode is elegant, refined, and very customer attentive. I was immediately greeted by an eager bellhop who took my bags with a smile. Check in was very professional and reasonably priced for January 12th at about 1200B. the room facing the pool on the 2nd floor was well appointed. Elegant linnens in deep fuschia and clam shaped napkins on the dresser were all above expectations and above average. The rooms are quite large and all electrical apparatus is controlled by a single swith located next to the bed. I was in control of everthing with a single touch of my finger and I loved it. Mini bar was stocked and very reasonable prices. (about 60 baht for a Heini). Room service and on-site bar by the pool added to the attractiveness of this place. I left at 4 am with a TG still in my bed and mangement had no problem. very gust friendly. You can also avail yourself of the many "pleasant" amenities of the Welkom Inn next door. (see members area). in-room safe, large bathroom (no tub), and room with a view, this hotel and its service ranks high in my limited experience. I am returning in July and I've already booked a more lenghty stay here. Pool is huge and many people hang out there. Shuttle and transportation services (and tour information) available at desk. I got a private limo from Hotel to airport for 1200B. Can't speak about quality of food as did not have time to eat on site. Can only reiterate that service was impeccable and rooms more than excellent. Look for future updae in July.
  5. Don't know about Kiwi, but everything I've read so far indicates that airlines offer their lowest deals between 30 and 60 days prior to your departure date. I can book now for $1,200 US for June flight or wait to see if price drops. Last time I booked early the price did decline and I got screwed, but you never know. I'll gamble this time..Good luck!
  6. Yes, I certainly did. Just attach yourself to a Koon Thai and when they move, you move (quickly).
  7. Areca lodge at B1600 during high season was, in my opinion, a good value. Very guest friendly (they take IDs of all guests and make you sign as well), the hotel offered all the amenities one might expect from a 3-star hotel. Breakfast from 6 - 10 am was excellent with a combination of both Western and Thai foods. Plenty to eat buffet style assured you could fill up in anticipation of the long day ahead. 2 pools on site. The one in the back is by far the best as it has a jacuzzi and attendant service. The pool in the front is not as nice but still clean/ok. The lobby is fantastic with it's open-air atmosphere. You can feel the breeze rushing in and they serve you a cold drink as you wait your turn to check in. The rooms are very clean and reasonably spacious. Tub and shower included. In-room safe and balcony (with mine). Beds a little hard but very big. many channels on telly if you're into that. bathroom spacious and functional. Room attendants very good, including folding of clothes and safeguarding of valuables left about. Tip early and well and you will be rewarded with extra towels, soap, folding, etc... had one day where mini-bar was not costed, but don't know if that was an accident or a favor. In room safe and on-site internet made this a comfortalbe stay. Blowjob bar called Lolitas right across the street as well as a Go-Go (champagne a go go)? where I found good lookers the nights I went. A few beer bars on the SOI as well as numerous mini marts, pharmacies, laundry facilities, etc. A very nice inexpensive beefeater restaurant right down the street where an excellent steak can be had for less that B500. Mike's Shopping mall is very close by as well as several places to make overseas call at cheap prices. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone, though the price might be a little high compared to comparable hotels. Areca Lodge was a big hit with the TGs and I liked it as well.
  8. Recently stayed at 3 hotels in Pattaya and all offered service. My guess is they all do or can arrange the service. Between 1200 and 1500 as recently as last week for private limo and all tolls included.
  9. Even in the shadow of my death do they laugh and hark.
  10. $50 per day for hotel. $50 for food and $150 for drinks and ass each day. But I tink to mut.
  11. personally, i don't ever want to give up the privilege and opportunity to have a child. Afterall, it's "up to me".
  12. Is that a "bag of ball" in the right hand corner or a foot? Christ. disgusting!!
  13. Say something bad about the Areca Lodge? I dare you! the wing in the back has personal in-room safes. something else?
  14. I am a CPA in the US and if you pay me enough...I can make you millions!!
  15. I have thrown an element of excitement to my trip as my reservation at Areca and Residence Garden EXPIRE on 01/10/06, but my plane does not leave until 01/14/06! I certainly hope I can fine a room at the last minute during high season! If not? well....so what!!
  16. I did a lot of research on accommodations before I booked at Sawadee Seaview. Many people had opined this was a great wing and an incredible deal. I was booked and ready to go. I still think (based upon my dogged research) that this is a fine hotel. In the end? No pool on site. I need a pool for those hangover days when I can't move and just want to feel the rented tits.. Went to Areca...
  17. no clue. I would recommend you try the "expats issues" forum and PM some expatriates.
  18. Silence village idiot!!
  19. Perhaps you should check with his highness before making any assumptions. I arrive on 12/28 and will already be in BKK when you arrive. Please PM me for personal correspondence.
  20. After NYE in Bangkok (staying at the Nana), looking to share a taxi to Pattaya on January 1st. please IM me if interested.
  21. Newark (EWR) to BKK $807 all-in. that's a lot cheaper than the DEC/JAN fare! What a difference a month makes!
  22. For those of us who are still awaiting our first trip, your personal experiences (Good And especially BAD) are greatly appreciated. If you could share some of your "mistakes" with us, then perhaps we would be less inclined to do the same.
  23. If you're leaving from the East Coast (as I am), that's a good deal. However, if that's from San Fran or LAX, it's only average, assuming we're not talking 1st class here.
  24. I am pretty good on accommodations. I have rooms waiting at the Nana and Areca Lodge. But as I was drunk one day and started to believe some of these peoples' posts who said, "don't make plans, just go where the wind takes you." And, "don't overdue it...boyscout boy". So my last day at the Areca is January 11th, but my plane does not leave to the 14th. Will this be a problem? I know it's high season, but will I really NOT find a room? I "planned" to use this free time to go to other hotels and bring back trip information. What is your experience with finding a room for only a couple of days during high season? Am I a dumb ass
