Yes The Queen Pattaya can be had for 550 must of the year around and walk ins are no problem. Avoid if you're a sun lover, as the pool is in the shade apart from very early in the morning. Chivas

I checked in very late for a flight back to Heathrow (after a road traffic accident) and asked at check in for an aisle seat but was politely informed there were none left (fair enough) Being travel wise when I got to final gate asked the girl to check my ticket as I had asked for an aisle seat but "apparently" had been given seat in the middle (acting a little naive) Could see she was checking the computer to switch the seat but as at check in nothing available but she wasn't going to lose face and tell me. Finally came over to me and gave me a boarding card for business instead ! Dress smartly (no shirts hanging out !!) and you can get lucky.

Not sure how others feel but being self employed I would find it very hard NOT to be doing something in retirement (health allowing) to supplement the income even if only 10000 baht a month,which for this chap would probably solve the problem. You cant come to live in LOS if £5 of bank charges ensures the shight hits the fan. What happens if you have serious medical issues ?

Ben, I've used internet banking in Pattaya since 1998 using internet cafes and for the last year my laptop without any problems. The only safeguard I use is that the ATM account is kept low until I need to transfer cash into it (day before) Dont forget you need to be seriously negligent NOT to receive recompense from your bank if monies were to disappear. Meat, Wouldnt worry too much.If no aisle or window seats available then you will be in the centre section of a 747-400 series but these seats are big (compared to economy/coach) Ring the airline direct explaining that you "need" an aisle seat for personal reasons and thats why you have purchased an evergreen deluxe/elite seat. They will allocate you a seat rest assured. If on the remote chance they dont, explain politely but firmly that you CANNOT travel on "inside seating" at check in and stand your ground. They will move somebody or better still upgrade you. Chivas

Ben, Personal circumstances will dictate how much someone can keep in a Thai Bank account but IMHO and from personal experience,regular visitors should keep 500k in an account just in case the shight ever hits the fan (as in my case when insurance refused to pay citing major existing condition) Thats not going to be possible for everyone but I believe its the minimum if you should ever have to god forbid engage lawyers services etc. Credit cards are great except for the one time you really need them and the cards U/S for some reason. Whitespider, You are absolutely correct in Eva's new pitch being 33" in economy. Unfortunately that only tells you part of the story. Firstly-the bottom area of the seat now shoots forward on recline immediately whacking your knees into the seat in front even if medium height. Secondly-they have installed a mega footrest with a one and half inch diameter which now sits right on the shin area if not deployed. Thirdly-as previously mentioned 3 out of the 4 aisle seats now have electronic boxes under seat in front meaning you,re going sideways into the aisle if trying to stretch out. Since previous post Westeast prices on Eva have come down to Thai level. Chivas

Tom, Am a Gold card member on Eva but have switched to Thai for next months trip for two reasons. Firstly the days of cheaper tickets on Eva are over mainly as there utilising the 777 with hundred fewer seats than previously. There are cheap seats about but even westeast could only come up with £515 inclusive on Eva. Thai was £435. Secondly no matter what anyone from Eva says the seats in economy are somewhat smaller than previously on there 747 with aisle seats now having electonic boxes under the seats in front seriously reducing leg room. Am absolutely not a cheap charlie but who can justify wanting to pay £440 extra one way ?? Its gets there no quicker and £440 buys one hell of a lot of lady drinks/bar fines etc. Chivas
