No charge on Etihad as have just changed mine direct with airline. It was a standard 3 month ticket. Chivas

As regards Car Insurance have just renewed my first class cover on a Toyota Vios after first year was thrown in free from manufacturer. Cost was 18,780 for a car in the showrooms at around 600k at one year old. This is only marginally cheaper insurance than what I pay for a similar sized/value car in the UK. Chivas

I'm sure people certainly can and do live on 20,000 baht a month but I personally cannot see the point of being in Los (apart from warm weather) on the equivalent of £65.93 a week. As you start to get seriously older PROPER medical cover alone will take this amount from you ?? IMO and I do respect that others have a different outlook but the minimum I would be happy with is 70,000 a month and I would need to be sure that this amount is "inflation/index linked" by whatever method, before I considered dropping anchor. Yes I posted on another thread that indeed Etihad will be a force to be reckoned with if they introduce a frequent flyer scheme. Further to other threads whereby Etihad customers were delighted to be finding multiple empty seats on their flights those flying in the very near future will find the aircraft well full. My return to Bangkok was to have been today on Etihad using the return portion of a coupon.I had to amend the date (FOC) and first available seat in Economy was August 10th which I gratefully grabbed. Hi, Not sure what Cheshire Tom may have mentioned Re Emirates recently recently however as a GOLD Card holder I can confirm that round trips LHRW-BKK attracts 19,338 air miles in any class of economy and from Gatwick-bkk round trip attracts 19,290 air miles in economy. 75,000 needed for freebie - ie 4 round trips. Chivas :

Pattayamad, Have you ever considered switching carriers if your airmiles are important to you (fair enough) ?? If you switch to Emirates and qualify for Gold card then each round trip gets you approx 19200 miles in economy no matter what class of economy ticket and Emirates tends to be cheaper usually, though not always. For each 4 round trips you then get a freebie. Chivas

Suggest you read all of the post numnut !! He didnt get two months for 7 cartons. He got 2 months after being verbally warned with no further action if not repeated,he then repeated it (with amount of fags unknown) and was given a written/final warning,he then repeated it again and so got two months. He would have got 2 months no doubt if he had 400 fags rather than 1400. He was over the limit - period. I'll see if I can pull a link to it for you. Chivas

Hot but normally overcast after around midday, with heavy showers which normally last an hour or so. IMO a good time to be here. Chivas

With reference to the post re seizure and jail, here in Bristol last week a gentleman received a two month sentance for breaching duty free limits with just 7 cartons of Bensons. He had been warned once verbally previously and also had details passport taken on another subsequent occasion. In coming from Abu Dhabi. Chivas

Spot On Jacko, Its not such a question of being financially challenged.Sometimes you have to slow down-young and old. Chivas

Cathay at 3 and Emirates at 5 is about spot on. The other airlines begger belief !! Chivas

He's suggesting you dont put your true Thailand address on box(es) as is the normal requirement when shipping goods out of Thailand. How much ARE bensons when bought outside of Duty Free at airport ?? Chivas
-
I used my usual agent in Pattaya-my tickets are in reverse-Bangkok/London/Bangkok and was 34000 baht but you can certainly purchase for at least £100 cheaper if originating out of UK. Chivas

No-I was in economy. Any Gold card from Eva/Emirates wouldnt get me an upgrade on Etihad. The current inflight magazine mentions new innovations coming to Etihad-a frequent flyer club being one of them. Chivas
-
Was in Abu Dhabi for only 1 hour anyway. Certainly user friendly. Big duty free shops Not on a size level with Dubai but prices the same. Chivas
-
As a Gold card holder on Eva and Emirates I was somewhat miffed at having to use Etihad last week due to an emergency which required my immediate attention and not being able to get on Eva/Emirates at a couple hours notice. However Etihad exceeded all expectations. Seat size was fine (and Im tall) food excellent with "signature dishes",quality video on demand system (comparable with Emirates or better) short connection times in Abu Dhabi and best off all a superb smiling attitude from the cabin crew. Get themselves a frequent flyer club and they'll take a lot of business. Excellent Chivas

If you're going to use indirect flights and on the basis that you got a sleeper home before (so guess you live further north) when you flew Eva, then why not pay a little more and use Emirates out of Birmingham or Manchester, who have the best frequent flyer package of them all ? Do Etihad even have a frequent flyer club ?? Remember once you have Gold status on Emirates for every 4 return flights you get a freebie.

Disappointing without doubt re new elite and economy seats on the 777. Biggest gripe for me is that on recline the "arse" section of the seat eases forward walloping your knees against the seat in front if youre reasonable tall. Seats are same pitch as before (and are wider in economy) they just dont feel it !!
-
Booking with who ? Always rate Cathay as the best airline ever flown by some margin. Chivas
-
1985/86 in Pattaya sterling was 27 baht to the £ This was the time sterling was just above parity to the dollar. Personally cant remember it lower than that. Chivas
-
Always worth upgrading to Elite (Evergreen Deluxe as was) with seats an extra 5" pitch. Be aware that if travelling on the 777 in economy, that three of the four aisle seats now have rather large electronic boxes under the seat in front severly restricting leg room. Chivas

You Yankees make me laugh when you mention gas !! Whats gas at the pump station in the states $2 or $2.50 ?? Here in the shit hole of the uk where I live its currently the equivalent of $7 a gallon plus. Chivas
-
If the £ was back to 40 then sterling and the dollar would be at parity in which case we're all up shit creek anyway !
-
I find it totally bewildering why anybody changes £5,$5 or 5 Euros into baht before arriving in Don Maung. What can it be possibly spent on ?? If the airline diverts to Delhi or Dhaka what will you do with them ??

Hospital where the birth occured will provide "Certificate of birth" and then this with mothers ID, Family papers etc take to city hall who will issue "birth certificate" for the child.
