checklist, checklist, checklist, checklist. Visual, physical, secondary, final. I work with checklists all the time and have to make them up for other people as well, so I'm used to it. Didn't stop me leaving the keys for our cases on the kitchen table in the UK when we turned up in Marina di Carrera for a family holiday though, plus our cases were all samsonite hardshells lol. It still happens , I suppose we're more relaxed on holiday and in holiday mode so stuff might well get forgotten, but the truth is we do most of it as routine anyway, such as turning off the cooker or lig

Apart from a couple of fully legal "scams", the CC companies are clued up these days. We put all our business expenses on AMEX for the points, then claim the VAT back at the end of the Tax year (20%), it's simply using a regular CC for business use as opposed to using the HSBC one which the account is with and getting jack shit in return. AMEX also have a travel agent service which we also put on expenses, it gives preferential avios points as well as the purchase points so again, kind of getting two for one. I guess some people are too busy to go through the T&C's of credit cards loo

Current (or still) Pattaya transportation costs
Butch replied to midlifecrisis's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
For a hotel transfer, I'd bite the bullet and use a proper taxi. nothing screams "cheap charlie" more than sitting on an MC taxi while holding a suitcase btween you and the driver. In the rain. Baht bus costs on "the circle" of second & beach rd remain 10 baht, bukhao 10 baht all the way along from klang to the market, and they seem to be a better class of Bahtbus Somchai there, they actually give you change when you hand over a 20 instead of driving off in a cloud of non DPF'd diesel fumes. Motorsomchai as always negotiate, I got stung 100 baht for Bukhao to Walking at midnight, -
Yep, spot on. I also used to fly Elite (Evergreen deluxe iirc) on the 747 combi's out of LHR and it worked out at £75 extra each way (£150 total) over the economy fare which really was a no brainer. Better seats, better cabin and at the time a very unique offering when Thai only had the 3 class on their 747's as opposed to EVA's 4. Biz and first were in the upper deck and separated into 2 areas, back when the CC gave a bow and received a round of applause from the pax upon getting to the gate. As time has moved on, other airlines have seen the value in this class and have adopted it. I re

As of March / April EVA are rolling out new fare families withing exsisting fares, if that makes sense. Instead of the old fare rules designated by letter, they're now split into 3. Now whether this is a good or bad thing is anyone's guess, but they seem to be selling it as being full of advantages which it obviously isn't going to be for the end user. Also, EVA WiFi has changed, instead of purchasing time you now purchase chunks of MB to use during the flight. I've added it as a youtube link rather than being embedded. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1bVvwR3PHs

Correct, but that doesn't mean that the objects hitting them would have behaved any diffrently, given that fundamentally they were both reinforced structures designed to absorb impacts of extreme weather and possibly given the previous twin towers attack, an incident similar to this. There would still be an obvious debris field. I also cannot for one moment believe that one of the most important strategic buildings in the USA didn't have any kind of outward looking surveillance systems. I have worked on US Bases in the UK in the mid to late 90's and the security there was tight to say the

Yep, i'm at pains to see how two other planes of equivalent size managed to bring down two skyscrapers and leave a debris field several miles wide, yet one hitting a low level ground object didn't, and also did very little localised damage. I also refuse to believe that the most important strategic building in the USA second to the Whitehouse doesn't have a functioning CCTV system, neither have any radar images been released. It stinks, even to this day.

Lol, short, dark hair, brown eyes... Sorry I should have said, Ilene is the wife of Paul, manager at babydolls and is often in Le Pub. I've known her and Paul for about 20 years and often pop in to see her if I'm in town. She is a fantastic cook and does the best bar food in town.

How much is the charge for hold baggage?. if it's an extra £50 - £60 then it is still good value, 20kg hold then 23 kg carry on, 40 odd kilo on a £460 economy fare perhaps?. Seems like good value, plus the times aren't too bad either I think (well, outwards isn't). We flew BA LHR-HKG last year, econ wasn't actually that bad tbh, and they really went above and beyond when we almost missed out flight due to a late PAL ex MNL.

Bloody hell, that must have been some downpour then!. Hate to think what would happen if some poor sod took a shortcut through the green netting to cross the road in the rain... I always worry about wandering or walking about in water like that, if Icut myself or had an open wound, getting that filthy water in would cause a few problems I expect. A few years ago some poor farang died when he stepped into a puddle which was being fed live current by a live cable, since then I've always been very careful either in LOS or the RP. -

The open sewer, I'm trying to figure out where it is, is it on the road that comes off the "chicane" corner where the R con bars are?. Great pics BTW, thanks for posting, I hope your feet didn't get too wet! -
Do we know how Phil & Le Pub is getting on these days? Is Ilene still there?.

Yep, they'll even wipe your arse if you ask them LOl... https://www.straitstimes.com/asia/east-asia/eva-flight-attendants-traumatised-by-having-to-wipe-passengers-bum

I totally agree with you, having been stranded myself by EVA last May when the flight was delayed 19 hours. The only reason why I have booked EVA this time is because I had a 25k mileage accrual which saved me money on my ticket, I didn't get any compensation for my delay either as it was a bird srtike and thus exempt, something which EVA seemed to have great pleasure in telling me via post. Shame really, they have managed to shag the goodwill out of many of their regular customers.

It depends upon your fare class. I put it in another thread, but EVA allowances in Economy are according to the website: under fare rule "A" in econ, it's 20 kg, "Q,H,W,V,S" it's 30kg and "B,Y" it's 35. Premium Economy is 35kg, and for UK-BKK flights there is no cost for seat selection in that Cabin Class, couldn't comment about Econ though. EVA 68 and EVA 67 are still both arriving and departing late with shocking regularity, this week one went out after 23:00. BR067 seems to arrive around 19:30 - 20:30 most days.

Always good to see reviews like this, sometimes what seems like what should be a good Airline turns out to be a pile of steaming turd. I've never flown Austrian, nor do I ever intend to on the basis of your experience. Trip Advisor reviews doesn't inspire much confidence either, as they also codeshare with Eurowings. One to avoid, along with South African if you're ever going that way, unless you like being on a cramped 747 with rock hard seats, no IFE , shit food and Cabin Crew who think the whole world owes them a favour. Despite EVA's LHR-BKK BR068 timekeeping bordering on the lev

I understand that also it may be something to do with the TA if you use one, as they may have access to tickets under different rules to those purchasing direct. We often use one particular TA when we fly to the RP as we can get 40kg on Cathay if going econ under their fare rules. Just looking at the EVA allowances, under fare rule "A" in econ, it's 20 kg, "Q,H,W,V,W,S" it's 30kg and "B,Y" it's 35.

What to do if your Luggage doesn't arrive in BKK
Butch replied to Butch's topic in Airline Discussion
Good point Gottsy, but I'm not sure if it applies to Asian carriers, in this case I was using Cebu Pacific who are useless at the best of times. I did eventually get my ticket refunded for the inward journey which was roughly 4000 peso, but it took me 6 months and a few shitty emails to get that. I've learned a lesson though, from now on I put in the hand carry a spare pair of underpants, along with a change of clothes, as well as a phone charger. -
Hi Gottsy Welcome to the forum mate, I've often wondered how Pattaya was way back when , would have been great to visit the place back in the day.

The Sterling rallied a bit yesterday, hopefully there will be some improvement. Thanks for the update Jacko.

Hi when I type “pattayatalk.com” into the address bar i get a “server not responding” message. In order to get into the forum I need to google pattayatalk forum and link in from there. is the problem my end or the other?. I’ve deleted cookies etc and am having the same issue on iOS and windows, since last night (weds 13th). cheers.

They have indeed, They seemed to have pulled a bit of a flanker with this one, upgrading to 2 services a day is no small measure for any Airline, all in what, less than 10 months or so?. I think it was announced the flights would commence on 08/06/18 Brown1950 said. Not bad going.

Your itinerary sghould list the type of Aircraft upon which you will be travelling on each leg, or if you are concerned about the Seoul - BKK Aircraft, just throw the flight number into google and then search for the flight details.

Bump, map updated with a couple more venues, and any bars of interest or deserve an honourable mention I'll add here as well.
