  1. Booked the flight for my upcoming trip via the Emirates website... I fly out from Newcastle on the 23/11. Booking through Emirates qualified me for a 30% extra Skywards miles..... Just under 4000 skywards miles Well, just checked my Skywards account and whilst checking out the current offers came across a little bonus offer for those flying Emirates from Newcastle during November...... The are giving 50% extra miles for those travelling from Newcastle to Dubai and vice versa, and also applies to the onward flight from Dubai as well. This offer applies to online booking made with Emirates.
  2. Now you are starting to sound as boring as BigD!!!! perhaps the pair of you could go for a river cruise in this Just the perfect size for the two of you. And I know - not very original........ but it's funny
  3. Unlike you of course..... All hail Scalywally...... the kid who always a harps on about "Boeings better than Airbus"
  4. Scalywally seems to devote his life to slagging off Airbus at any opportunity he can find and must spend most of his life searching the net looking for articles that give Airbus bad press. I seem to remember Boeing having to carry out mods to all 737s after two rudder related accidents.
  5. Checked out their prices -same day Pattaya to Airport and return...... 2000 baht!!!!! My little lady books a limo from Pattaya to take her to the Airport to meet me, and then return me and her to Pattaya and I pay a grand total of 1600 baht including parking and tolls. Can't wait until 24/11...... and she'll be waiting at arrivals for me
  6. Of course they will, they always do! But, have you ever noticed that when they get a rebuff backed up with facts... they go quiet for a while?
  7. By the time BigD found this stall he would probably forgot what he was looking for
  8. Oh dear... BigD seems to suffer from amnesia... must be going senile. Poor old BigD Maybe we should rename BigD Mr Forgetful.
  9. BigD always makes me chuckle with some of his rants about Airbus
  10. The noise from Soi 6 finishes around midnight, and it's after midday before the Soi comes alive again. I have stopped at the Queen Vic on 3 trips already. I love the spot. But on my very first night there (June 06) there was a Karaoke set up on the street outside and I thought I had made a mistake booking a there, but shortly after midnight suddenly the Soi went quiet and I could sleep soundly The ladyboys on Soi 6 try to ambush late at night, but if you have a companion for the night the will leave you alone. I have a room booked at the QV for 4 weeks in Nov/Dec, and I think the
  11. I seem to remember Boeings having problems caused by wiring.....
  12. I agree with what all the others say. I am shortly heading over to Pattaya on my 5th solo trip. My first trip was a bit daunting, but with in a couple of days I had found my feet. You'll find plenty of drinking buddies out there!
  13. I have flown with Air France Manchester -Paris -Guangzhou, and found them to be OK but not brilliant! Reasom I chose them was the flight was way cheaper than anybody else. Didn't like the transfer arrangements at CDG. Flew KLM Newcastle - Amsterdam - Bangkok and wasn't impressed. Now will only fly with Emirates, well impressed with them and managed to book Newcastle - Dubai - Bangkok for £490 on 23/11 returning 21/12. I found that being a little flexible with my dates I was able to get a price I was happy with. I could have got it for £50 cheaper by flying Newcastle -Dubai - Hong K
  14. Will the 787 make Boeings stated delivery date in May is the big question? Each day of delays is making that target less and less realistic. The first development plane has yet to fly, then there are hours and hours of test flying, modifications to correct faults, certification and so on..... May delivery is looking less and less likely!!!!
  15. Looks like Boeing are starting to admit they have set targets they will struggle to achieve. And it looks like a case of the slippery shoulders, trying to put the blame on the suppliers. As for control system software...... Well, I work with control systems.... If they think the software will be completed, tested fully and completely bug free by the time it is delivered then they are really living ain a dream world.
  16. You would have thought that a "world class" company such as Boeing would be able to get the right parts delivered at the right time without having to rush out to panic buy fasteners from a local hardware store.... the importance of meeting the 7/8/7 deadline for unveiling was so important for their publicity machine!!
  17. Temporary fasteners....... lol!!!! The big question is will Boeing today finally admit it is experiencing problems with the 787 Project?
  18. JoeK, those certain other people are just rebuffing BigDs, Mangos and Scallys persistent bragging about superdooper Boeing. As for your comment about flag waving....... I agree! I don't see myself as "British Citizen" anymore... I see myself more as being a "European Citizen", and a "Global Citizen".
  19. If you read posts by BigD, MrMango and Scally everything in the world of the 787 is rosy, there are no delays, and Boeing is not having production problems. Reading that blog tells us otherwise As for the May 2008 delivery to the first customer, that is looking more and more like that it will be delayed Sits back and waits for a rebuff about A380 delays and the European taxpayers getting by Airbus
  20. After the Paris crash which was caused by a punctured fuel tank, modifications were made to prevent a repeat... but they had lost the majority of the customer base by the time it returned to service. Meetings via webcam and other technology cut down the number of people requiring rapid transport across the Atlantic for business purposes.
