BigDUSA brought up the subject of the A380 on the very first line of his post opening this thread and it got mention a few times more - This thread was intended as a slagging off of the A380, whilst hyping up the 787. At the end of the day the two planes, although both long-range planes are targeted at different markets - so why the slagging off of the A380? The A380 is aimed at the high-volume routes where airlines can pack more people on so in effect it is targeted at the 747 market.

To me this looks like the Yank posters are hyping up the Boeing and slagging off the European Airbus. If Airbus didn't exist then Boeing would have a virtual monopoly on large aircraft - wouldn't they! I have flown Boeing 737, 747, 767,777, Airbus 320, 330 and 340 Lockheed TriStar and Fokker 100, and I would say I prefer the Airbus products. Pilots don't really fly planes nowadays, apart from take-off and landing most flying is done in autopilot, so the argument that computers are the thing that allows the A380 to fly due to it not being stable in flight isn't really relevant. The A380 is revolutionary in the fact that it is the first big commercial airplane to have a proper full length double deck for passengers, and yes, it is evolved from earlier Airbus designs. Perhaps it could be said that the 787 is just a development of the 777 using newer manufacturing techniques rather than being a revolutionary design.

Yep, alcoholic beverages are available, but the price of the stuff is scary I had 3 hour connections on my last trip to Thailand, so I didn't get too bored, and only had time for a couple of drinks, and at their prices I was glad it was only a short connection!

Twice I have used Emirates from Manchester, well impressed compared to KLM/Air France. Joined Skywards and with another 2 trip to Thailand I should be getting near to qualifying for a free return flight to Thailand And upto to date they have given me 7500 bonus miles after only 2 trips

That was my last night of my trip and I had meant to make one last visit to the Cheery Bar and meet up with one of your delightful ladies agin, but,alas, my plans went pear-shaped after a few bottles of Singha with a mate and I never made it. Looks like I missed a good party!!!!!

With me being a cheap charlie that I am, landing on the 25th October at 12:25, I suppose that by the time I have went through immigration, picked up my baggage, managed to get through customs, changed my Pounds to Baht and made my way over to the transportation centre, then I should make the 15:00 bus with ease!!! Maybe catch a taxi back though as I don't facy a 6+ hour wait for my flight back

I flew with them in June, on the flight you will be on. It is a 747 Combi - half passengers/half cargo. And I think it flies on to Taipei after stopping at BKK. To put it mildly I wasn't very impressed - No seat back in-flight entertainment, just a big screen on the bulkhead, both directions was seated beside the galley, probably because I was a lone passenger. Also felt a bit cramped. Only chose KLM cos I wanted to fly from Newcastle and it was the cheapest flight by a mile. Returning in 4 weeks time, flying from Manchester on the 24th October with Emirates. Used them last year and was well impressed

Last year I flew Air France Manchester-Ghuangzhou (China) for £370 return. Cheap but wasn't over impressed with the flight and the service. Wasn't impressed with CDG Airport, was on a tight connection and was panicking during the inter-terminal bus transfer, luckily I just made it! Have since used both Emirates and KLM to fly to Bangkok. Wasn't impressed with KLM and have just booked another MAN-BKK ticket with Emirates

Have been prescribed Prozac in the past... Didn't like one side effect...... it make it harder for you to shoot a load..... And I like shooting a load I would rather enjoy Pattaya as MY Prozac

On first visit to LOS visited Pattaya for 1 night and stayed at the Sea View. Was shown round 3 rooms before I found one I liked. One of the rooms the air-con was in bits On the room I eventually ended up in found the shower didn't work, and after complaining a handyman came and fixed it. Would I stop there again? only if I was stuck for somewhere to go!

Like eTickets much better than printed ones... All you need is your passport and a reference number
