  1. But what would you rather have - a product that has been rushed through development and into production just to deliver at a promised time, or a product that has been properly developed, tested and then finally put into production with all the bugs ironed out. I know what i would go for - the properly developed and tested product. The company I work for likes to have it's new chemical plants handed over to the company on time but we find they are never completed, and fully tested and are full of bugs and errors. We then have to spend months ironing out all the problems because the proj
  2. Yes, you can purchase upto 25,000 miles in a calender year at a cost of 2.5 cents per mile. depending on how many miles and bonuses I aquire this year I might just need a little top up for a reward flight next year.
  3. There is also an option to purchase additional miles if you are just short of a reward. I have made 2 return trips so far and with bonuses so far have accumulated 33K in airmiles lfying from manchester.
  4. I go for the Emirates otion, don't mind the 3 hour break in Dubai, gives me an opportunity to stretch my legs. Did the KLM non-stop from Amsterdam once, never again!
  5. Mmmmm... looks like I might use Newcastle on my November trip instead of Manchester.... Wee bit closer to home than Manchester And nice flight times from/to Newcastle as well:D
  6. All Emirates flights go to/from Dubai, they use Dubai as their central hub. So there will more than likely be a chance to spend some time looking around the rather excellent duty-free shops. Although you can have a beer in one of the bars at the airport, it is quite expensive They are in the middle of a massive expansion of Dubai airport. If you decide to fly Emirates join the Skywards frequant flyer program, I have and have so far flown with them twice to Bangkok, and after my next 2 trips will be getting near to a free return flight to Bangkok
  7. Been there, done that..... Wouldn't recommend the KLM option, they use a 747 combi ( 1/2 passanger, 1/2 cargo ) from Amsterdam to Bangkok. Worst flight I have ever been on. Have travelled Air France, you could maybe try that.
  8. Stayed there twice, and with 2 more trips planned this year am intending staying there again. Vic is a very hospitable guy. He has bought the building next door and is extending, increasing the number of rooms and is planning on a having some with jacuzzis Soi 6 goes quiet after 1:00am so shouldn't disturb sleeping. And at night there is a security guy watches the back staircase to take the ID's of your guests.
  9. Merry Xmas Adam..... See you when I come back in May
  10. BigDUSA brought up the subject of the A380 on the very first line of his post opening this thread and it got mention a few times more - This thread was intended as a slagging off of the A380, whilst hyping up the 787. At the end of the day the two planes, although both long-range planes are targeted at different markets - so why the slagging off of the A380? The A380 is aimed at the high-volume routes where airlines can pack more people on so in effect it is targeted at the 747 market.
  11. Over on thaivisa.com is photographs of the A380 on display at Suvarnabhumi Airport....... wearing the Kings insignai.
  12. To me this looks like the Yank posters are hyping up the Boeing and slagging off the European Airbus. If Airbus didn't exist then Boeing would have a virtual monopoly on large aircraft - wouldn't they! I have flown Boeing 737, 747, 767,777, Airbus 320, 330 and 340 Lockheed TriStar and Fokker 100, and I would say I prefer the Airbus products. Pilots don't really fly planes nowadays, apart from take-off and landing most flying is done in autopilot, so the argument that computers are the thing that allows the A380 to fly due to it not being stable in flight isn't really relevant.
  13. Yep, alcoholic beverages are available, but the price of the stuff is scary I had 3 hour connections on my last trip to Thailand, so I didn't get too bored, and only had time for a couple of drinks, and at their prices I was glad it was only a short connection!
  14. You should check the Bellringers page! And I missed out on it as well when I rang the bell
  15. So, now we have 2 bars offering free barfines for spending on copious amounts off drink Then there off course there is also Hammers offer for bell ringers who get their mugshots taken Why not run these as low season offers as well, might attract punters in during the quieter times
  16. Twice I have used Emirates from Manchester, well impressed compared to KLM/Air France. Joined Skywards and with another 2 trip to Thailand I should be getting near to qualifying for a free return flight to Thailand And upto to date they have given me 7500 bonus miles after only 2 trips
  17. That was my last night of my trip and I had meant to make one last visit to the Cheery Bar and meet up with one of your delightful ladies agin, but, alas, my plans went pear-shaped after a few bottles of Singha with a mate and I never made it. Looks like I missed a good party!!!!!
  18. Left just before Loy Kratong - wish I had stayed now
  19. Jiggy is alive and well and on another forum A clue - one to do with bar ladies
  20. Hiya Rick -I'm landing at 12:25 on the 25th but not sure if I fancy hanging around for another 4 hours
  21. How about this for a sexually deviant hamster
  22. With me being a cheap charlie that I am, landing on the 25th October at 12:25, I suppose that by the time I have went through immigration, picked up my baggage, managed to get through customs, changed my Pounds to Baht and made my way over to the transportation centre, then I should make the 15:00 bus with ease!!! Maybe catch a taxi back though as I don't facy a 6+ hour wait for my flight back
  23. I flew with them in June, on the flight you will be on. It is a 747 Combi - half passengers/half cargo. And I think it flies on to Taipei after stopping at BKK. To put it mildly I wasn't very impressed - No seat back in-flight entertainment, just a big screen on the bulkhead, both directions was seated beside the galley, probably because I was a lone passenger. Also felt a bit cramped. Only chose KLM cos I wanted to fly from Newcastle and it was the cheapest flight by a mile. Returning in 4 weeks time, flying from Manchester on the 24th October with Emirates. Used them last year and wa
