Airbus and Boeing products running behind schedule

The Three Stooges seem to have missed this latest little hiccup in the story of the Nightmareliner Personally I love this little one:- If i remember rightly I predicted that commissioning of the control systems would not be straight forward and was bound to cause a few problems...... Whereas the Three Stooges claimed the Nightmareliner would be not have any problems with it's systems... As I am Instrumentation and Control Engineer I know systems integration causes problems, and especially with safety-critical systems such as on a prototype airplane. Will the Nightmareliner fly this year? I think that is starting to look doubtful. -
Emirates for me.... from Manchester. I don't mind paying the extra, I like the 3 hour break in Dubai. Am also a Silver Flyer and on my last 2 return flights have been given business class upgrades. And if I make 3 return trips with Emirates, I just about qualify for a reward return flight - if I pay £45 for the extra miles. Can't be arsed travellling all the way down to London and then across London just to save a £100. Plus I have Manchester, Newcastle and Glasgow (which have Emirates flights) all within 2.5 hours travelling distance.

It looks like the rumour was right So after all the whinging by Boeing about how the KC-767 was the ideal product for the USAF they are now thinking about changing their candidate for the 3rd attempt at winning the contract. -
Yep.... cheapest way will be purchasing a camera on ebay from one of the many Hong Kong eBay shops.

Will Azerbaijan Airlines be the only ones to cancel an order for the Nightmareliner? In light of the current global economic situation I will hazard a guess the answer will be no! And with regards to the tanker contract there is a rumour that Boeing might change from the 767 to the 777 as the basis for it's tender on the 3rd attempt at winning the contract. -

Quantas is due to take delivery of it's first A380 on 19th September and is due to take delivery of the next 2 before the end of the year. Emirates is also taking delivery of another 2 before the end of the year. -

Been too busy working...... don't worry I will post them in the next couple of days Here's an idea for you Kev - spend half the time up country, and the rest in Patts...... go on, you know you want to! -
I wouldn't bother buying a camera "Duty Free" in Dubai. The price they quoted me for a Nikon D300 was higher than what I would've paid for one in the UK. My advice would be to get one duty free in the UK, you might be able to have one ordered for you to collect at the airport when you fly out. Alternatively you could buy a Nikon in Thailand and claim the duty back when you return home.

Dubai bound 29th July and then on 1st August becomes the sixth A380 to enter commercial service..... -
I am a silver card member and have just returned from Thailand using a reward flight which I got for 67,500miles , by booking the reward on-line. The 130,000 miles figure sounds more like the "peak economy" ticket price, if you search by varying the dates you can get the 67,500 flight if you go for the off-peak flight time. I managed to get a 5 week duration return flight. I also was given a free business class upgrade on the BKK-DXB leg on my reward flight. That means I have had 1 sector business class upgrades on my last 2 trips with Emirates

A journo can't even get the facts right Singapore have 5 in service already..... Emirates is due to take delivery of it's first one next week. -
We have moved to the Beer Bar Complex at Soi 9 on Second Road. The new bar does not currently have a sign, but it is the bar sandwiched between Tokyo 21 and Rolls Royce Bar. I will post some photos and a map when I get the chance. It has been a move for the bttter..... we have sold more drink in 3 weeks than we did in 3 months on New Plaza and we also have also got more girls working in the new bar. A few BMs have already found us..... So if your in town, come and check out the new bar, it's not far from Soi 7 and 8 to the new place.

Due to recieving an offer too good to refuse we made the decision to sell the Banana Bar on Pattaya New Plaza......... A German has bought it and but has closed the bar until he returns in 3 months..... We have already bought a new bar in a better location and have already opened.......... But you will all have to wait before I tell you where!!!! The name "Banana Bar" or "Gone Bananas" will adorn the new place eventually

You should have bought her a D200! Much better quality camera and not much more in price than a D80...... Although it has been replaced by the D300, there are still a few available in the shops. I just bought my daughter a Sony laptop for her 18th..... in her words it was a "friggen excellent" present But since she now has a boyfriend, dad is only the ATM now... When she finishes school next year I'll be taking her on a trip to New Zealand, Australia and Thailand. -

I have flown in a 747, and after that experience I go out of my way to avoid flying in one..... It is a dinosaur! And an ugly looking dinosaur at that! -

The design of the 747 is over 40 years old........ it is a dinosaur, whose future is hauling cargo! It's sales in the passenger sector are now almost non-existent. Admit it Scalywally.... The 747 is dying a slow and painful death. -

Apparently they expect it will take two weeks to fully power up the Nightmareliner..... and that's if everything goes to plan -

TheFiend replied to BigDUSA's topic in Idle Chit Chat
The game isn't over Scalywally....... you are right. But let's compare the contenders..... The A380 has 192 firm orders, with airlines holding options for a further 48. that's with 14 airlines, 1 leasing company and 1 VIP. The 747-8 Intercontinental...... 1 Airline Customer with an order for 20, plus the 7 Boeing has ordered for itself. Both planes are targeted at the high capacity intercontinental routes. The market is there, as Airbus have proved - otherwise they couldn't have sold that many planes. As more and more enter service further orders will be won. -
Airbus and Boeing products running behind schedule
TheFiend replied to BigDUSA's topic in Idle Chit Chat
There are 27 orders for the 747-8 passenger version.... of which Boeing has ordered 7. The only customer to have ordered it it Lufhansa, which was placed in 2006. The passenger version is hardly a success, is it Scally? Incidentally... Lufthansa also has 15 A380s on order with options for a further 10, so the 747-8s have not been ordered in preference to the A380. Lufthansa ordered them to fit between the A340-600 and the A380, and of course received a very favourable discount to place the order. In the passenger sector the 747 is now a dinosaur and the falling order numbers for it show it to be true. The 747-8F gives the cargo operators increased payloads, so it was always going to attract orders. -
Airbus and Boeing products running behind schedule
TheFiend replied to BigDUSA's topic in Idle Chit Chat
Using "Quarters" gives Boeing a wide window to aim for, but to say flying by the end of summer could leave them with egg on their faces. Even after powering up the Nightmareliner for the first time there will be loads of systems testing and systems integration testing to carry out before they can even carry out pre-flight testing. Remember that this is a prototype aircraft which will no doubt have it's fair share of bugs and gremlins to sort out. So the reality is the Nightmareliner might be flying before the end of the year.! -

Also from www.atwonline.com Friday June 6, 2008 And here is some more terrible news...... Somebody else ordering the dreaded A350XWB...... why can't they order the Nightmareliner? After all, the A350 is still years away from being built........... whereas the Nightmareliner is ready to fly -
