  1. I think it was the 747-8i
  2. Don't need it...... I've already got a much bigger one than yours.......
  3. Exaggerate? Now look at this for exagerration.... Now that really is lame......
  4. We have all seen Toms efforts with a camera.... We have all seen Pete's efforts with a camera.... But do any of us get to see BigD's efforts with a camera....... NO!!! Always bragging about his camera....... So come on BigD....... let's see what you can do!!!! Otherwise, your the one who's lame!!!
  5. The Boeing fanboys will be sitting there in front of their PCs wanking like crazy over this news, just like Scally is right now! . . . . . Only joking Scally!!!!!!!!
  6. And why buy American? The UK bought some Mastiff armoured vehicles off America to use in Afghanistan....... when it comes to getting spare parts for them they have to wait for ages....... the UK is at the back of the queue for parts!!!! Over a 12 month period they needed to replace 176 axles.... result....... the Mastiff were parked up awaiting repairs most of the time.... If the UK buys European stuff there is a better chance that it will do what it's supposed to do instead of sitting waiting for parts.
  7. Emirates operates a hub network...... they will place the A380 on routes where the demand is.... simple. Why would they have to cannibalize other markets? I have a choice of 4 airports within 3 hours of where I live that are served by Emirates - Manchester, Newcastle, Glasgow and Birmingham. They are my airline of choice..... Why should I have to travel all the way to London to catch a direct flight to Bangkok. The A380 is a great plane for airlines that operate Hub networks, and it gives them higher capacity with lower operating costs. For example - Emirates wants to increase its' capacity at Manchester....... which is the better option? Increase from 2 flights per day to 3 (3 x 777), or put an A380 on one flight (1 A380 + 1 777)... the more cost efficient option is the A380 one.
  8. Perhaps in the American markets...... but you look at the market outside USA, and there is a market for the A380. And Korean have ordered 2 this year..... Take Emirates for example......they use the 777, flying full.......but if they use a A380 they can sell more seats....much better option than increasing the number of flights per day. Airbus will survive, just like Boeing will survive....
  9. Most of those order were in the year after it was announced.......... And apart from VIP jets nobody has ordered one for 18 months Lufthansa deliveries for the Dinosaur Intercontinental were supposed to start next year....... that won't happen...... it'll be late..... just like the Nightmareliner..... And funny how nobody else has ordered the passenger version.... Looks like passenger airlines don't want it...... they would rather go for the A380 for the VLA sector of the market. I am quite looking forward to flying into BKK on an A380....... Not long to go until June 1st...
  10. Oh dear!!!!! That's 57 Nightmareliners now cancelled!!!! Oh dear!!! So the latest figures for the year are Boeing net orders now -1, Airbus +11. At least nobody is cancelling the A380...... And it's interesting to see Boeing is also cutting back 777 production....... so it's not just Airbus revising delivery numbers...
  11. In view of the current global economic situation it is probably the right move. Some of the deliveries scheduled during 2009/10 have been deferred, so the delivery rate is being adjusted to compensate. Notice.... deliveries are getting deferred.... not cancelled.
  12. Seats are bookable for 1st June onwards for the A380..... and I can use a reward ticket on it....... so I'll be flying on the evening flight from Manchester to connect with the A380........ With a bit of luck might actually be flying 1st June.... fingers crossed :)
  13. Not exactly word for word..... is it????
  14. Boeing have been consistently wrong with their projections for the timescale for the Nightmareliner, so do you really think certification will be completed within their "schedule"? And until the plane flies, nobody knows how it will perform and how much an issue the weight problem will respect to the performance figures.
  15. Scally........ you seem to have missed this one about the Nightmareliner!
  16. Trained counsellers are often the wrong people to be doing the job..... what is needed is someone who has real experience of going through it. 5 years ago I was going through a rough patch caused by relationshiop problems and asked my doc to put me back on the prozac. A couple of months later was sitting at work thinking how easy it would be to kill myself......... I was having suicidal thoughts...... a side effect of taking prozac (if you don't believe it check it out on the net)..... The doctors response was to double my dose!!!! I got joined an online discussion group for depression sufferers and started doing some reading to understand why iI was feeling the way I was. That was of more benefit to me than prozac ever was. I can understand your anger and feelings of revenge towards your attacker, it's natural. But you can turn that into something positive, instead of letting it drag you down into depression.
  17. Prozac doesn't cure depression, it is just a drug that masks the symptoms. The best cure for depression is finding the cause of it. There are events/reasons that cause depression, usually something that has happened previously. Counselling often helps - being able to talk to someone about the cause of the problems. Do a bit of reading, on the subject.... it helps, it help me understand the causes of my episodes of depression. Now when things happen I can react to the cause.
  18. Basically the airlines think fuel efficiency (i.e. saving money) is more important than peoples health. That's why smoking was banned on planes, so they didn't have to draw in as much air from outside. Recirculating air more actually increases the risk to peoples health. HEPA filters don't stop everything. Yes, they can stop particulates, but if something is small enough, it will get through. How many times do you seem to get a cold after a long distance flight? Where do you think you caught it???? ........ on the plane!!
  19. I used to be prescribed Prozac by my doctor, but actually found the side effects of the drug actually made things worse for me. I stopped taking the stuff 4 years ago and feel much better for myself for being off it.. Thailand is now the only drug I need to stop me sliding into depression again. Yes, it's a rollercoaster ride - but it's worth it!!!
  20. I'm like you...... had biz class "free" upgrades on 3 out of 4 of my recent Emirates return flights - one was on a "economy" reward ticket as well!!!! Another reward flight is about to be booked..... and I am just waiting the ok to book my next freebie trip..... 2 weeks ago arrived to check in 3.5 hours before the flight and they upgraded me at check-in - so you don't always have to check-in lateish to stand a good chance of upgrades.... Middle of May sounds good for my next trip....... bonus time...... and it will also mean I'll have got to spend 3 months out of 6 months in Thailand.... I love working for a company that allows me to take such long breaks with full pay... And I think I'll visit some estate agents this next trip......
  21. We are now nearly a quarter of the way through 2009, and Boeings orders for the year are showing a net total of -10 because of cancellations. and up until the end of February Airbus was showing a net total of -8. But an order for 2 A380 is a sign there is still a market for the A380. The net figures are a good illustation of the global economic meltdown.
  22. Scally.... when something new is developed there is a chance problems will be encountered. Just look at the problems Boeing has been having with the Nightmareliner program. Manufacturers and end users learn to how to tweak things, users learn how to maintain them properly, learn how to rectify problems as they happen. They learn how to predict when failures might happen..... MTBF/MTTF (Mean Time Before Failure and Mean Time To Failure) figures can be developed and operating schedules and maintainamce schedules adapted over time. In the real world nobody expects 100% reliabilty......... but it is nice to achieve as close to it as possible. Nobody has cancelled orders for the A380, but it is understandable about defering deliveries. As airlines cut frequencies on some routes the A380 offers them the option of offering the same capacity with fewer flights. For example why have a 2x daily A330 service when an single daily A380 service might be a more cost effective solution.
  23. Boeing have already had 32 cancellations for the Nightmareliner since the start of the year..... Not a good start to the year for Boeing!
  24. Same as always, Boeing trying to blame their problems on anybody but themselves. They decided to the outsourcing route....... it's their fault it hasn't paid off.
