How many orders did Airbus get at Berlin? I believe the final total was something like 67. And then there is the Farnborough International Airshow to come on 19-25 July 2010... Airbus will rack up a few orders there as well.... You're right Tommy.... he isn't very good at this, is he?

There may be plenty of so called "skilled" workers, but there is a shortage of "properly" trained skilled workers. In my trade there is a shortage purely because they no longer train my trade. Nowadays they tend to train people people to be multi-skilled, but they lack the depth of knowledge to do a job properly - hence companies are now willing to pay a premium price to get the correctly trained people.

What I said was the idea of 6 extra seats was for short haul routes..... your quoted article just confirms that. Ryanair is a bums on seats business - they offer very cheap flights and make money on the extras like luggage, drinks and meals. Lower running costs means they make more money. Sorry BigBunky, you should check your facts before posting. Personally I have never used Ryanair, but many people do. They have become one of the biggest European airlines in passenger numbers by offering no frills cheap flights. Perhaps they will follow Easyjet and transfer allegiance to Airbus.

Ryanair sell cheap seats and then add charges for extras that other airlines include in the price. It is a formula that their customers seem to like - ideal for cheap trips around Europe. In fleet size it is one of the largest airlines in Europe, so it is hardly a small airline. Ryanair has always been a Boeing buyer, it runs a fleet of 232 737-800 with the oldest being 7.5 years old, and an average age of 3 years. It is still waiting delivery of another 18. If Boeing won't deliver what the customer wants, then perhaps they will look elsewhere - like Airbus. Perhaps the Airbus 321-100 would suit their needs better.

I have just got a Panasonic LCD - Top of the range model. It didn't cost me a penny - the company I work for paid for it. :) Picture quality in HD is stunning. I am in the process of adding it on to my home network for media streaming (it has Ethernet) and it can also play DIVX movies stored on SD cards. Got an HD satellite box feeding it, but it also has an internal satellite input which I have connected to another dish to pick up some Thai TV for the other half. It came with a free 5 year guarantee - for peace of mind, not that I have ever had a problem with any Panasonic stuff I have bought. Did have a look at a Samsung LCDs and LEDs but went for the Panasonic instead.

As a European taxpayer I am quite happy that my taxes are going towards keeping Airbus employees in a job!!!

But it didn't perform as the aircraft had been "originally" designed - otherwise they wouldn't have had to modify the design, would they? If they had designed it correctly the first time they wouldn't have needed to modify it to pass the stress tests! This is what happens when something has been rushed to meet unrealistic deadlines.

Now that is lame... The wing attachment are fundamental to the design of an aircraft...... you would have thought they could have designed them correctly in the first place, after all Boeing have many years experience in building aircraft.

If it had been designed right in the first place they wouldn't have had to redesign it, and the first flights wouldn't have been delayed as much!

Notice the lack of mention about the fact that it needed the wing fixings redesigned.

I know one thing..... I would rather my taxes were used to support European jobs via loans/subsidies to Airbus instead of paying some dodgy politicians pocket expenses claim....
