  1. You seem to have a sense of humour deficiency BigD If definitely looks like the Skyslops....... not the most inviting of places on Second road. The way you go on about the place you would think it was the Dusit! It isn't, it is a dodgy looking cheap guest house.
  2. Skyslops is on the wrong side of Second Road to Soi 6....... which means having to dodge all the motorcycles and cars on a suicide mission to get across the road, just to get to Soi 6! You can't beat the Queen Vic! Stopped there 4 times, great value, good food and great rooms.
  3. Not going back to the Queen Vic? Shame on you!
  4. There is an under 3 hour connection which I have always managed to get a seat on. EK384 is the best DXB-BKK flight to get when flying in from the UK - gets you into BKK for midday. Look for it and it will come up
  5. No Mongo.... it was you who came out with the "one" in October statement....... I said Emirates will have the A380s flying on DXB - JFK in October.... You are blind Mongo!!!
  6. Flew Emirates from Birmingham - Dubai - Bangkok..... good flight with decent times, good airline. Have flown KLM, on Newcastle - Amsterdam - Bangkok. Will never fly them with again on the Bangkok route..
  7. The DXB-JFL diagram requires 4 aircraft to operate it. That means Emirates will have taken delivery of at least 4 A380s by October 1st 2008 which is the date the route is going A380. The Emirates A380s will be operating on the LHR-DXB route prior to then..... How many Nightmareliners will be delivered this year?????? Considering it hasn't even flown and there is only 359 days left, I would say it is very doubtful a delivery will happen! Mr Mongo........ you refuse to see..... so you are blind!!!
  8. By October the A380 will be flying the Emirates DXB -JFK route. Now where's that Nightmareliner????? I seem to remember that's suffering from "production problems"
  9. wow... 25 "firm" orders.... that's a massive number!!!! But it is still a dinosaur Ok, it's still making money, but it looks like Boeing has wasted money developing the 747/8. The only market left for the 747 is as a freighter.
  10. A mere 25 orders for the 747....and predominantly the freight version..... looks like it is dying a slow and painful death due to the A380. Despite Boeings efforts on the 747/8, the 747 is finished..... admit it!!!
  11. Cancellations!!! Probably because they foumd out you were stopping there
  12. Just back from my 4th stay there in 2 years...... it just gets better everytime. Impressed by the new toilets by the pool room, certainly a lot less cramped then the originals. Will be booking my 5th stay there for next June.
  13. Arriving 24th November... I arrive at 12:05pm on Emirates flight EK384. Is anybody arriving similar time interested in sharing a taxi? Stopping at the Queen Vic on Soi 6. TheFiend
  14. I flew KLM Newcastle- Amsterdam - Bangkok last year....... and I won't fly with them again. The plane used is a 747 combi (the rear half of the plane is cargo) and as a single passenger I was dumped in the worst possible seats. The IFE was crap overhead rather than seat beck, so no personal choice. Flew Air France to China, and I would fly Air France again, but CDG is a nightmare for connecting flights. I am sticking with Emirates from now on!
  15. Greetings Mr Scandinavian Lurking Beer Monster Hope you enjoy your 1st trip to Funtown....... but be warned.... it's addictive
  16. Even though if knew DigD would be stopping at the Skyslops with you???
  17. Damn.... Seeing this little coven of witches would have made my night Now that would have been an expensive barfine
  18. Indian Takeaway...... nice one! I'll have a Chicken Madras with mushroom pilau rice and onion bhaji please
  19. I find it hilarious that McLaren are campaigning for the Sauber and Williams drivers to have their points taken away due to the fuel temperature findings...... when after having been caught during qualifying for contravening tyre regulations and only got fined instead of being demoted on the grid. Looks like double standards to me!
  20. Tier miles and accumulated miles are different.... If you spend your accumulated miles you don't lose your tier miles. To get silver status you need to make 2 round trips in a year UK to BKK .... 26K in tier miles. That earns you silver status. As long as you fly 20K per annum with Emirates you will stay on Silver tier. Then there is gold tier on top of that - at 50K. I'll be quite happy to be silver.... it allows check-in at the Business Class desk rather than having to queue, and also access to the Emirates lounges, as well as the 25% extra miles for being silver. This year i will h
  21. After mine trip I will also be sitting on roughly the same amount.....I am planning on buying the remaining miles to get the 75K, as some of my miles are expiring next year. Should get me a nice cheap flight for next June.... lets hope the £ v $ stays hovering around the 2$ point until after Xmas
