What s the best way to get to Pattaya from the BKK airport especially when arriving late at night?

The easiest and best (?) is to get a taxi from the airport. When the touts ask just ask what car. You'll get a Toyota Camry for Bt1650 including tolls.

 

For the return journey, I use Paul Pat just inside the gates to Walking Street. I pay Bt1200 for a big car (usually Volvo) including tolls or you can pay Bt800 for a regular taxi not including tolls.

Forget the touts you will get ripped off,go to the taxi rank its right outside the exit, theres a lady in a box she will ask you where your going and give you a piece of paper to give the taxi driver,make sure the taxi will take you all the way..

You can order a taxi from pattaya by telephone or fax and they will pick you up in bkk. I regularly use a taxi firm who are very reliable. PM me if you want telephone/fax number/s

I have used khrongfa@ego.co.th the last 3 trips and haven't had a problem. Cost is 1000 baht + parking (50) + tolls (150) for approximately 1200 total. The driver is always waiting for me in the arrival hall with my name. First 2 trips they had a late model sedan, this last trip I had a van to myself.

I cannot recommend khongfa, they werent there for me, and wanted to send a driver to my hotel to collect the money for "not picking me up" they wanted the full amount of 1200bt

 

They have done this to other people too.

 

I thought I was going to get a free muay thai lesson!

 

I now go upstairs to the arrival area, and simply ask the drivers arriving.

the touts are not such a big rip off,thai limo used to cost 1500b.the touts offer

1600b not such a big difference,you walk to the taxi rank and they will stop you

its the most convieient way,no waiting or long walks.of course its not the cheapest.take the airport bus to ekami the the bus to pattaya then baht bus to your hotel about 250b,ok if your flight was less than 8 hours and you have a small amount of luggage

The Image Limousine page looks good but nowhere do they specify the type of cars they use. Do they use large American sedans like the one in photo or do they use other types?

It looks like a good service but for the price it ought to be a big, comfortable limo. Also, are they really reliable if you book on the net? Thanks.

ThaiAir Limo Service used to run mini-vans directly to Pattaya from Don Muang airport during the day (not at night). However, I do not know if this service is still offered. I have heard from a friend that they may have discontinued it. They have a service desk in the arrival terminal. When I last used it in 2003 it was 200 baht and you had to share the van with others. Does anybody here have any recent information on this? Is this service still being offered?

I believe they are the Toyota Camry type cars, and they require internet booking.

I have used Image Limo at least 6-7 times. The owner is Rob Scarr and he prides himself on Customer Service. The only point I would make is price, it is not the cheapest mode of transportation you can find but you pay for piece of mind. I normally arrive around 11:00pm and by the time I clear customs and baggage it 11:30 or closer to midnight. They have always been there waiting with the little sign. Great new vehicles, with a cold towel and water and at least for me as I said the piece of mind that I can get two hours sleep on the way to Pattaya with no worries.

Depending on the hotel that you will bw staying in, they often offer to have you picked up for 1200 - 1500 baht. Usually an OK deal.

Is this where you walk down the street to the Dynasty and take their bus, or does Nana have a bus that runs to Pattaya? Or, perhaps you are referring to the regular bus from Ekamai station.

Most INTERESTING ways in my opinion in order of preference are:-

 

1. Take taxi from airport to Morchit bus station (about 100 baht) then bus to Pattaya (about 90 baht) Then baht bus to your hotel. No Problems and very cheap.

Maybe 3.5 hours. Usually lots of girls on the bus - try to chat to them !.

 

2. Take A3 airport bus to Ekamai bus station (100 baht). then bus to Pattaya (95 baht then baht bus to hotel. Rather longer than 1., but you have the option of staying overnight in the Suk road area, enjoying the nightlife and travelling next day to Pty. Ekamai is on the rapid transit system (very impressive).

 

3. If alone look around for other Pattaya bound travellers (a good proportion of single men coming off the plane, waiting in the immigration queue or at the carousel) and suggest sharing a taxi. Limo 1600 Taxi meter 1200 baht. I've done this a few times. If your companion is a newbie you can take pleasure in imparting your knowledge. If old hand swop stories of previous trips.

 

4. Go up to arrivals and look around for vehicles returning to Pattaya. I've never done this but believe it to be possible.

 

These are all better imo than the easy boring option of the Limo.

After a 22 hour journey to LOS, I think "quick and comfortable" has a lot going for it. Take the Limo.

I like to arrange for a taxi from Pattaya to meet me for the simple reason that when I arrive from London with Eva there is a Thai 747 and a BA/Quantas 747 also arriving within minutes of my Eva 747. This is a hell of a lot of Pattaya bound punters and can mean you might have to wait an hour or so before a car is available. Booking a car from Pattaya means the driver will be waiting for you. If it's your first visit spend a couple of hours looking for taxi firms you can book by email for your next visit. I have used Mr. Boon & Fiends (sic) in Soi Buakhao and another in Soi Chaiyapoon opposite the Seaside cafe, there are many others. The only problem for me is that most of them are non-smoking nowadays.

it is still operating from thai limo desk 3 times a day 9am, 12noon,and 7PM

the cost is now 300baht not including tolls if you go the express way.

 

i used them in june and only took 2-15 hrs to get there.

I really think that the best way to get to Pattaya is to 1st stay one night in Bangkok. I have done this for all of my trips. I usually get in at about 1159pm and then after 18 plus hours on a plane I do not look foward to another one and one half hour ride to Pattaya. So I simple take a taxi to the Nana Hotel, (a must) and the ride is usually about 20-30 minutes and should cost no more than 300bth. From the hotel you can book a mini van/bus to pattaya that will take you directly to your hotel for 250bth. I find this to be the best way to go. And while you are in Bangkok you can walk out of your hotel front door and you are right in front of the INFAMOUS (Nana plaza). The hotel is a must do, not because of the hotel decor but just for the feel of the area. I love the Nana hotel, it is not a 3 or 4 star hotel by any means but it kind of hooks you once you stay there. regards, bignasty

As Greg suggested, one option is doing a night in Bangkok first. I've never gone directly to Pattaya, in large part because I love Bangkok, but also because the last thing I want to do after travelling for 30 hours is sit in a can for another 2 hours.

 

Taxi to a hotel in Bangkok should be about 200-250 including tolls or about 150 if you skip the toll road.

 

The next day or two you have several options to go down to Pattaya

 

1) take a taxi off the street (price 800-1200 baht)

2) take a car from the hotel (price 1200-1600 baht)

3) have the hotel travel office arrange a cheap "mini-bus" (price 250-350 baht)

4) take taxi or sky train to Ekamai bus station, take AC bus that leaves every 30 minutes (90 baht).

 

With option #2 you can even get a full mini bus to yourself if you want. Dynasty has a very nice mini-bus for 1300. If you can find people to share with you, this is a very nicxe and cheap option. If you are just going to get a car then you have no real advantage over a taxi other than maybe you just can't be bother with flagging down a taxi to save $10.

 

I would recomend against #3 as often the mini-bus simply collects you and others from other hotels and then takes you to a big bus and then another mini-bus picks you up in Pattaya. May take a long time.

 

Option 4 is one most people don't bother with simply because they don't want to go down to Ekamai and don't want to have to hire a baht-bus to get them to their hotel once in Pattaya. However, it is clean, comfortable (AC and bathroom on bus), and you get to sit with BG's.

 

Personally, I'd split a taxi or the Dynasty van if tavelling with others and take the bus if I'm heading down alone.
