Planning this years trip to LOS.

I usually stay at the Sunshine Hotel on Soi 8.

But I am looking to maybe stay somewhere different..

I am considering the Lek Hotel or Dynasty Inn near Soi 13.

I have read the reviews and looked at their web sites..

Anybody have recent personal experiences at these hotels?

Do you have any pics of the room interiors? Bedroom and Bathroom?

I like having a large stand-up shower area in bathroom.

All feedback would be welcomed,,, Both good and bad..

Cheers :chogdee2

I cant speak for the Dynasty, but I stayed at the Lek last year and it was fine. Location was excellent. I booked a Deluxe room. Am not sure it was worth the extra money, but it was so reasonable that I didnt feel the extra was a big deal. In the Deluxe room, there is a large stand up shower as well as a tub if that answers your question.

I've stayed at the Dynasty a couple of times. I've found it to be a fine hotel. Location is great and service is good. Swimming pool is on roof and it is small. The food was ok but you can find better elsewhere.

For pictures, check out their web site. You can link to it through the hotels review section on the forum.

I stayed at he Dynasty for 1 night becuase Sandy Spring was booked for my first night. I wasn't too impressed with the room. Showed at lot of wear and the a/c was weak. I like the rooms at the Sunshine better. Never stayed at the Lek but have heard good things about it.

I can't compare with the Sunshine as I'm not familiar with it and I haven't stayed at the Lek but I've eaten the breakfast buffet there on many occasions. Usually while half in the bag(pissed) but still digging under the ever present fly landings to get "unflyed" food. Isn't it funny how you'll eat almost anything when you're drunk and hungry at 8 o'clock in the morning? I'm disgusted with myself but can't wait to do it again.

Anyhow, I am a fan of the Dynasty Inn on Soi 13. I don't know how recent a review you're looking for but room dynamics really don't change. My last stay was Jan. 05 when the rate was 990Bt. I think it has gone up to something like 1200Bt+. The rooms were clean, service was very good, 24 hour room service with good, clean food, and you can discreetly enter through the carpark although I recommend leaving her ID at the desk. Rooms are good but some think that because of the darker wood decor it is rather drab. Me, I like wood. To each his own. The bathrooms have a walk in shower that is the same size as the area required for a normal size bathtub. There is a wall to hang on to or push against if you know what I mean. I don't have photos but I myself plan on going back there in Jan/Feb 06' if the construction noise has settled down. Jan. 05' was pretty bad during the day. Consider looking into this if you're a day sleeper.

In short, Soi 13 is the perfect location and the Dynasty has decent rooms to start with. Book your entire trip here, without pre-payment, and look elsewhere after you get there if not completely happy. Rooms will open up at Sandy Springs and/or the Lek, AA, etc.. if you're not happy and decide to move on. These hotels are so close to each other that you'll laugh at yourself for worrying about the distance between them. I did. As in any hotel in Thailand never pre-pay. Pay for your room one day at a time with Baht as you go.

I have stayed at the Sunbeam a few times and have given up on it. The only reason is the rotten pool. I am going to try the Flipper next tiime and it seems the price and location is right. I think Soi 8 is great and dont want to leave thge area.

The Dynasty Inn is about a 2 years old. I have stayed thier 3 times and the staff is very friendly. The only complaint is the cable dose not get many channels.

If you stay there don't use thier internet. Thier are several internet bars very close that are cheaper and faster. I plan on staying thier when I go back in October.

You can use the back alley if you do not want the "walk of shame".

No there are not in room safes. That is a draw back. They do make you sign and date a piece of paper when you access you safe deposit box.

Also the swimming pool is not very big. Its on the roof of the building.

Lek is cheaper ,rooms are bigger the pool is of a usable size(I swim every day)and they have in room safes

Dynasty the rooms are smaller tho newer the pool is no more than a hip bath or plunge pool and the cost more ,will not discount for long stays

Have stayed at the Dynasty twice but only for a couple of days. The rooms and the pool would be too small for me for an extended stay. The staff are reasonably efficient and friendly. I have used the safety deposit boxes in reception without any problems.

Hi there guys. The Lek was on my list of places to check our for September. What can I expect to pay for a standard single room?

Thanks

Double in the new wing was 1200B/night when I stayed there this past Spring. No non-smoking rooms though, uncomfortable bed, crappy aircon, and the room stank of smoke. Major attitude from the night staff with regards lady guests. Wouldn't go back.

Dynasty was more comfortable (still rather firm bed, but OK), better aircon, and non-smoking rooms available. Also 1200/night.

  • 3 weeks later...

Was at the Dynasty Inn last April with Songkran :

Very nice staff, rooms were excellent & always clean.

On the other hand, the "swimming pool" is a "hot tub".......and the noise of the construction works can be extremely annoying !

All in all, when the work finishes, I'd go back.

For my next visit in september, i'm going to try the Dynasty resort !

Take care,

Jay

PS : price paid was 1200 Bht per night / no joiner fee.
