I Need a "good" dentist in Pattaya

Recommended Posts

I've used the dentist down soi 4 twice, Its in the hospital building so you cant miss it.

The one i use is a female dentist. Very freindly, clean and good equipment.

Also much much cheaper than England as you can expect.

I doubt i'll use my UK dentist ever again.

Hi

That's Pattaya International Hospital

Think it is Dr Darika. I saved the airfare on treatment there and very pleasant lady. Dentists are in short supply in Britian an many of them are extortionists.

I have used the dental clinic at the Bangkok Pattaya Hospital. Made the apointment before I left for the LOS in September. I will go back in December for some follow up work. After my first apointment, I needed a little oral surgery :D and they scheduled it that evening.

We all know the cost is cheap compared to western dental work. The greatest perk was the fact when you had a apointment at a scheduled time, they saw you at that time and you didn't have to wait. I needed to see the dentist a few days later and I called and they said be there in 30 minutes and would be worked in. I arrived and in less than 15 minutes he was working on me.

If anyone needs any contact information, just PM me.

LeoTex

PS; the best part was they didn't hurt me and the dentist assistant wasn't hard to look at either.

I've also been using Dr Darika at PIH for the past 2 years. She will do your exam, cleaning and fillings. If you need some major work done you will be reffered to one of their specialists.

I'm having a crown made at Pattaya International. I broke a tooth last week. Am seeing Dr. Sornam Buddhachart. Will finish up tomorrow when I get the permanent crown.

Will be a total of 4 visits. Had a root canal which is usual when having a crown. Am anticipating a final cost of about 15000 B. That's about half of the co-pay if I were to use my dental insurance at home. Excellant service. No pain.....oh yeah!

Ever since two South African's took over the dental practice which i used here in the UK and started charging daft money i have been using the Royal Palace Dental Centre in Pattaya.

Bloody Excellent, a half hour in the chair and they descale plus a clean and polish all for 600 Baht (the SA's charged me £80.00 for the same treatment)

I have not had any extractions or fillings however, i would be very confident that this place would do a good job.

If anyone is interested the address is:-

Royal Palace Dental Centre

215/64-65 Second Road (opposite Royal Garden Mall)

South Pattaya

Pattaya City

20260

Tel- (038) 426253 or 426254.

I made an appointment through email with Bangkok Pattaya Hospital for an initial dental consultation - the cost will be about 500 baht. Is this about right? I have never had any medical treatment in Pattaya, so I dont have any idea. Appreciate it if someone can let me know.

In response to Laffnliv, if you have dental insurance in the US (HMO) your co-pay for a crown is around 200-220. Dentists being what they are, they will try to get more out of you for unnecessary services, but you dont have to get them. So $300 does not appear to be that big of a bargain. Specially since if the crown breaks inside five years, dentists in the US can be asked to replace them. I dont know if that will be easily possible in Pattaya.

Trvlr: Your dental insurance may be better than mine...but, I paid about

$500 co-pay a few years ago. And I don't have an HMO. Have heard too many horror stories about the overall quality of care as well as the avoidance of care. Also, the work I had done here included root canal. Maybe that is always done. All work was completed in less than two weeks.

My first trip to PIH was a bit over 10 years ago when a Thai lady driving a BMW sidewiped me while on a motorbike on second road. Had injury to head and elbow. LOTS of stitches. The treatment was outstanding! Have been to them since for bronchitis, abrasions, and even NSU. Highly recommend the place. My lady was hospitalized for pneumonia this year. Again, the treatment was professional, kind, and effective.

Laffnliv, most mainstream Dental HMOs (DMOs) like Aetna, Cigna, will have co-pays in the range I mentioned, 200-220 or less. Depends on the plan of course, but I have never had a plan that cost more. Under my current Aetna plan a porcelain over metal crown is 185.

That figure does not include root canal cost, which is an additional $50 (front) to $150 (molar).

The trick is to find a halfway honest dentist - you will never find a completely honest dentist. My apologies to all dentists reading this, but even my dentist friends agree with this statement. I am talking HMO plan - on the PPO plan they can charge you what they want, so that doesn't count.

Anyway, at these costs, getting a crown done in Pattaya is not advisable, in my mind. Unless it is an emergency.

But others are welcome to their own judgment - I am not trying to argue here.

How much would one be looking at to get a couple fillings done?

Heading over there in Feb for the first time and am wondering if I should hold off until i get there. Would cost me about about 5000BHT each where i live (Canada)

Greetings all by the way :) I'm new to the forum!

May I introduce some of you guys to Colgate? :D And stay away from Coca-Cola. It murders teeth.

All smokers might care to try Zact Lion toothpaste, available in any supermarket. It works - unlike me. :P

That will be 50 guineas please.

Signed

A bent dentist

All the laudatory comments re PIH are justified in my experience. Dr Kijikarn Junda who qualified with 1st class Honours takes care of me and I have had only good experiences with the gnashers department upstairs.

I had one done in 2nd rd for 500 bht but it fell out when i got home. For a straight filling i think around the 1000 bht mark. I had my filling redone when i got home and the dentist scoffed when i said it was filled in Thailand,...but when i reminded him that it was his 8 month old filling that had originally come out, he said " oh yes very difficult hole to fill that one ."...On the hole i prefer my drilling and filling in Pattaya !!!? Thats why i samile.

Last two crowns I had done were $1,125.00US EACH, in San Mateo, California.

Sounds like Pattaya International Hospital or the Dentist nearby might be the way to go as I need two more done in the near future.

Hi

English prices eg. $1=1 ukpound . My teeth aren't great because of an addiction to hard sweets but the crown I had done in Pattaya is much better than any I have done in Europe.
