I'm looking at booking a room in Soi 13, after doing a search I found that there is not much information about the new White House Condotel, has anyone stayed there? My main concern is wanting to know if it is girl friendly, and decent value at about 1500 bht. Would Sandy Springs be better value?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me, and thanks for all the great info in general, looking forward to contributing my experiences early next year.

1500 baht for a room with no view or pool in the hotel is a bit steep. Have a look at the Areca on Soi Diana, better rate with breakfast thrown in for you & your guest, no hassles 2 nice pools & good location. IMHO much better value.

  • 1 year later...

booked in her for 3 weeks in late january 07 ..

never never again !

i had a nice chat with the farang guy who appeared to be the manager as i wanted a good room (1 bed suite) and it was 3000 baht per night so i was having a haggle to try anf get a discount . after going round a few other hotels which were my usual suspects (res garden & the vualt which were both full :beer )

i finaly decided wtf i'll have it .. to expensive i know but i was getting late in the day and i needed a room.

mananger was happy to see me come back and assured me i'd love the place ..

so 1st night out in town .. take 2 TG's back at around 1am for some fun .. phone rings just as i'm getting to work .. "hello khun simon, we see you take 2 lady to room, it 500baht extra per lady" WTF i asked i'm paying 3k per night for 21 nights and your trying to hammer me for 500 more .. anyways i'll sort it in the morning i said.

folowing morning went to reception and they bluntley pushed a folder under my nose with there T&C's and there it said 500 per night for more than 1 guest . i made little arguments saying they should of said this on checkin so i asked for the manager again .. hoping the undiscounted 3k per night i was paying for 3 weeks held some sway .. no chance !! .. just a shrug of the shoulders ..

so i checked out pretty quick and moved again ..

in all the hotel itself imo only has location going for it being so close to the action ..

residence garden 1 bedroom suites @ 1399 per night are bigger that the white house ones at 3000 and i always feel welcome when there .. somethign i did not feel at whitehouse ..

i'd rate it as overpriced and not a place to stay if you ever think you may go for a 3 some

oh and the view from the window !!! a very nice wall .. could not see anything, no sunlight ..... 1/10

I have stayed there once (April 2006) and enjoyed it. It is not for anyone bringing back more than one girl as they charge a joiner fee for each girl over one.

The restaurant in adequate but not great.

The beds are comfortable and the staff are pleasant.

I am staying there again in March.

I stayed there back in November 06. paid 1200 baht a night for a very nice room. They were tearing up the pool at that time. BTW previous poster must be confused with something else. Whitehouse was open in November 05 I was staying at sandy springs at that time but they were definately open.

They have double windows so rooms are quite. good a/c. The pool ws being ripped up and replaced in nov 06 anyone know if they are finished yet??

also I had wife with me and she had girlfriends coming and going without reception ever saying a word to us. But I do think that they brochure states room rates are for double occupancy and subject to extra charge if more than 2 people in a room.

I stayed there about three weeks ago (begining of February 2007):

a. The rooms are nice and new (at least my room) so no complaints here.

b. The restaurant is not that great

c. The view from the rooms - well, there is none. So if you want view - forget it.

d. The joiner fee - no joiner fee for 1 girl - 500 baht for any extra girl per night - no problem for me since 1 is enough for me

e. The price was 1500 baht per night. Plus 3% extra paid because of credit card. I stayed there for 11 nights and asked the manager (enlgish guy) to waive the 3% extra but he is very tough and not flexible.

f. The manager would not negotiate any discount. 1500+3% per night not 1 baht less - doesn't matter how long you stay.

g. They charge 1 night deposit in cash

h. The manager said that they plan (soon - he said that starting from march) to get you to prepay for your whole stay so that if you say that you plan to stay 10 days - they will charge you upon arrival 15000 bahts + 1500 deposit . If you cancel or check out earlier you lose your money. I find this unreasonable - the manager finds this "industry standard" 2guns

i. I think the manager is not a very nice guy (40ish single English guy and very arrogant). The owner (older guy - golf player , relaxed and laid back) however is very very nice but he doesn't run the show. So you have to talk to the manager (again, not worth talking to since he is arrogant)

j. Location is great.

k. Room cleaning was not that great. They nerglected to clean the basin and they forgot to change the sheets and towels at least 3-4 times. Didn't replace the soaps or shampoo until I requested. Could be better.

l. Staff was so so. Some nice some not.

So, to wrap it up:

Rooms - nice. Atmosphere - not that great. Price - okish.

If you don't give a sh%$ about the atmosphere or how the staff treats you - then the rooms are nice and clean.

I have stayed at the whitehouse b4, my main complaint was I had no reception on my mobile phone, Great if you dont want to be contacted, but I use mine for some buisiness from home, so checked out the next day and moved 100 yards up the road to sandy springs.
