I might come back again but this will be my 4th visit to LOS within the last 12 months!!!

U lucky dog, 4 times in a year. I've only been there once in my whole life (Nov). As I dont live near a major airport living out here east coast of US, it is very expensive with all the transfers to reach LOS and very, very time consuming. Only wish it was cheaper so I too can visit magic land more often.

Once you have seen the sights in BKK, there is little to recommend it for daily life. Too smoggy, to much traffic congestion, and too many high prices.

I think Pattaya is the only way to go!

Cheers

Like most big cities, it's great if you have money but it sucks if you don't.

If you have the money then you will find younger better looking girls in bangkok. But it will cost you. Probably 1.5 to 2 times as much on average.

But there are plenty of good lookers in pattaya. And for a 10 that would ask for 4000 baht in bangkok a similiar 10 in pattaya will probably ask 2k baht unless she is a go go dancer who will ask for 3 k baht. But in pattaya you can find some pretty good lookers who will go for 1k baht lt. In bangkok to find 1k long time good looker you will have to look harder. 2guns 2guns

I have to disagree with the monkeyman. Ever since the advent of the skytrain and subway I have found BKK to be better than ever. I must admit that I like to sightsee and in BKK that means visiting Buddhist temples, so the public transportation is a huge priority for me. Others may have different priorities. But to answer the original question: BKK or Pattaya, my advice is to do both

No argument,Pattaya wins hands down.

Spend two or thre days in Bangers, then head to Fun Town.

BANGKOK:Massive traffic problems,and pollution.Overcrowded,and pushy girls.

PATTAYA:Bugger all traffic,no pollution,BEACHES,more beer bars than you could visit, and MANY more Go Gos than Bangers>and many more girls than Bangers.

Anyway, each to their own i guess.

Both always. I always spend last week of 4 in Bangkok, and have brought lady from Pattaya on last few visits. As long as she doesn't want to buy 1/2 of MBK much cheaper than local talent. :D

Many BGs in Pattaya seem to be up for the GFE. . not all but relatively easy to find if that is your desire. GFE much more rare in Bangkok . . far more of a business attitude and more than likely interested in short time only.

BG price in Pattaya is 1/3 to 1/2 less expensive than in Bangkok.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I find Pattaya and Bangkok to be quite equal.

Over all - Pattaya is the best deal IMO.

When was the last time you were here? No traffic? Get real. Crossing 2nd Road or Beach Road is extremely hazardous - and 3rd Road, Pattaya Nua, Pattaya Klang, Pattaya Tai and Naklua Road are close behind. Ever tried crossing Sukhumvit? Air pollution on 2nd Road is at danger level. No pollution? Street cleaning doesn't keep pace, stench from the drains invasive, untreated effluent discharged into the sea, garbage trucks leave a trail behind them ect ect. The pavements are a disgrace, parking always a problem. Little or no money has been spent on improving and enhancing public utilities and yet the expansion goes on and on. Beaches? You like being constantly hassled by hawkers and peddlers? Seen the colour of the water?

Pattaya is a better holiday venue than Bangkok only because BKK is so disgusting. Holiday makers may not notice too much but some of us living here in Fun Town are finding the place is becoming unbearable. Most of the ladies are looking distinctly ropey (and pricey) too. Several acquaintances have moved up country and I amongst others are planning to go the same route.

I'm almost halfway through my Pattaya stay and, compared to Bangkok, Pattaya in high-season SUCKS. I admit I am a GoGo addict and I have spent a lot of time (too much effort) hunting through the GoGos and one thing is certain, over New Year's there are FAR to many punters for the number of girls. Girls seem indifferent and huddle away from the punters when not dancing. A lot of places , the punters seem to bring their own girl. One GoGo on Soi 7 was banning girls from leaving the bar (short-time only, upstairs) because they were so short of staff to dance. Girls have to get up and dance way to often, so when you do catch one it's a couple of sips of their drink and off they go again for anothe 20-30mins. When you corner one most want only ST and would rather go home than committ to LT.

Yesterday I was asked 1000THB for a ST barfine at a major Walking Street GoGo (yes ONE THOUSAND BAHT). The girl added that the day before (New Year's Day) it would have been 2000THB!!! :gulp

I then started asking at the door of other GoGos on WS and got the same reply - Needless to say I left WS, never to return. Out in Pattayaland thing returned to 500THB except Jupiter GoGo where I was the only other customer bar one and about 8 girls where they also asked 1000THB. WTF! Pattaya cheap!? The old Thai business model of "When things are slow, raise prices" is strictly adhered to.

I had a great time my first Pattaya trip in August, so I'm thinking that Pattaya is best avoided during high season. The best f**k in Thailand was a 'mature' lady from Stringfellows, Soi 13/1 IIRC, but in the intervening four months it has closed <huh

Never had any problems in Bangkok, high or low season, nor in Patong, however this year in Patong I got lassooed by my tsunami girl for the whole six nights so didn't get to sample any variety. That was okay because I was looking forward to some serious butterflying in Pattaya - that seems unlikely. :D Did spend time with her at her friend's bar on Soi Crocadile (a.k.a. Soi Katoey) which is probably where someone earlier mentioned they went for the 'gay cabaret'. That place was rocking over Xmas.

If you are gay I suspect that Pattaya may provide more choice in Pattayaland around BoyzTown, but that's not my thing, so I can't say if the boys are any more welcoming than the girls There are certainly more boys GoGo, Bars and massages places per square metre than anywhere else I've seen.

I'm going to try the Pattaya bar scene tonight and see if I can get any good-looking LT action If not I'll have to cut my losses (my hotel insisted on payment in full in advance because of late booking - won't be falling for that again :gulp ) and return to BKK. TBH the money I've saved here on ST-only action will probably offset the hotel loss.

Won't be setting foot inside any more Pattaya GoGos this trip. :beer

This was my first time in HS and my throt was just killing me. Maybe no pollution compared to Bkk but that does not mean there is none.

My advise is to go straight to Pattaya and then to Bangkok before you leave. If you do it the other way around you may be to tired after the flight to actually do anything there.

Hi

Have never been in LOS for Dec-Jan but I feel the girls want to make a killling. :chogdee2 Many years ago I was in Patong and a guy who lived there told me that when the US Navy came in the girls would only go S/T and try to make as much as possible, so maybe not much has changed.

You have to spend a couple of days in Bangkok if you never have been just to witness the chaos with traffic and the shear size and hustle and bustle of the place. Then a couple of days relaxing in Pattaya and a side trip tp Cambodia is an eye opener worth doing as well. You must see the Angkor Wat temples at Siem Reap in Cambodia.I am no tourist but they are pretty amazing.Plenty of birds there too. :chogdee2

If mongering is your priority, go to Pattaya.

If sightseeing is your priority, go to BKK.

If you're not sure and it is your first trip, go to Pattaya to get the "hang" of LOS before dropping in the abyss that is BKK.

Pattaya is easier to get around in and everything you need is nearby and the baht bus transportation system is a breeze to use. Fuck all if you get to BKK and fall in with a Tuck-tuck driver on your first day in country (at least you will leave with a new wardrobe :o ).

I like both and for me the Sky-Train in BKK takes me to most of the places I want to go. Prices are about the same in both places for BG. I hang out in Gulliver's Tavern on soi 5 and the beer garden on soi 7. Both places loaded with FL. Around the corner is the Bamboo Bar and down the street is Nana Hotel.

Pattaya has better weather then BKK. Usually a couple of degrees cooler and way less air pollution. Hotels are cheaper in Pattaya. Once somebody told me there's a beach with the ocean attached. I've never seen it myself. :D

The booming voice from this thread says "Pattaya" and I have to agree.

I spend lots of time in both places (I live about 3 months a year in Thailand). For me, Pattaya is the best of all worlds. You have a fantastic bar scene, both gay and straight (I only can talk about the straight side . You have a great infrastructure with excellent shopping, movie theaters, entertainment bla bla bla, just like BKK. BUT you have that beach just a short walk away. Ok, granted, it's far from the best beach in Thailand, but for me, any beach is a good beach.

But if you want to hang out with people who live a normal life in Thailand (ie, working stiffs, both foreign and Thai), or if you want great food, then BKK is the place to be. In fact, BKK has pretty much all my favourite restaurants in the world, all in one city. Pattaya kind of sucks for food.

Both are beautiful places to travel but pattaya is the one which I liked the most and the best thing is that the taxi services are great over there and that also with reasonable price. They used to pick me from my hotel on my request and it doesn't matter whatever the time may be.
