I stayed in the Metropole for 13 nights last month and it was great.

I contacted them via e-mail requesting the FLB rate and received a reply a few days later from 'Chokita' with an enclosed attachment of a form to fill out with my details and fax back to them to confirm my reservation and payment of 2000 thb deposit.

Easy as that.

I've now been trying to book again for next February and after over 4 weeks and 6 e-mails from 'Jad', some of which don't make much sense, I'm no further forward. :grin-jump

All I've managed to find out is that the superior rooms have gone up from 2000 thb to 2240 thb which 'Keeper' had already informed us of and that not all the rooms are available using the FLB rate and also that the 2240 thb only included one breakfast. If I had a guest who wanted breakfast it was another 100 thb.

Jad originally told me that they would require 14000 thb to secure my booking but 2 e-mails later this had risen to 15000 thb. :3some

The latest e-mail I've received is asking me for my fax number so they can fax me a form instead of e-mailing it which I don't have, as I fax straight from my PC.

I'd really like to stay there again because I like the area and the hotel itself, and whilst not perfect suited me well. However, I've already started looking for an alternative because I've lost patience and confidence and have visions of payment of 14 or 15 thousand baht being taken from my card and then arriving to find I don't have a room.

Hopefully I'm wrong and it's just a change of staff has caused this confusion and the hotel is still up to a good standard but I'm not sure I'm prepared to take the chance.

I'll give 'Jad' one more try and if I can get it sorted all well and good, if not I'll try somewhere else.

Anybody staying there now have any problems?

25/11/07. - UPDATE.

Received another e-mail from 'Jad' who says that she is in Singapore now and will deal with my reservation when she returns to Thailand on the 28th November.

We'll see.

Latest update on the saga of trying to make a reservation in the LK Metropole.

I received an e-mail from 'Jad' a day early which I thought was a good sign. Unfortunately this was not the case. :tits:

Included with the e-mail was an attachment with what I assumed would be the form to complete with my card details and fax back to her. What a surprise when I opened the attachment to find it is the correct form, but it's already filled in with someone elses details including his card number, expiry date and the 3 digit security code from the back of the card.

If I was a dishonest man it looks like I could have a free trip with someone else footing the bill.

If 'William Graham' (or anybody else who knows him and can tell him) staying in a standard room from 23rd Nov until 03rd Dec is reading this, I would suggest that you track down 'Jad' and ask her what the hell she is doing.

Hi

I'm thinking of staying at the LK Metropole this Summer in the Metropole Suite (penthouse). It is not entirely clear from their website, nor on the telephone with them the actual configuration of the suite. Does anyone know :-

i) Are there sunbeds (with cushions) on the roof terrace where (it appears) the outside jacuzzi is ?

ii) Are there actually one or two such penthouse suites, and if two, what are the differences between them ?

Thanks for any info you can provide.

As I understand it, there are 2 penthouses (way above my pay grade), and one of them is occupied by a long stay gay couple pair of BMs who are more likely to be found on other pattaya forums. :D

The jacuzzi is outside on the terrace, and if it didn't have sunbeds, you could certainly request them and they would be provided. I don't know the difference between the two, aside from location at the top floor. I've only seen the one that is available for rent during a party held there a year or so ago.

I'm returning to pattaya (4th trip) in a couple weeks and had planned (hoped?) to take advantage of the FLB discount corporate rate (the same as a discount offered to members of the pattaya sports club i believe, but that's another story :D ..anyway...).

I exchanged several emails with the desk which led ultimately to the following response:

"In case you would like to reserved by FLB rate kindly let me know name of Manager FLB please, because rate not same studio room FLB rate THB 2,100net with one breakfast no have weekly rate and now we studio room available only one room at 2nd floor

Regards,

Mrs. Jad"

i confess in all my ignorance i'm not sure what she meant by "Manager FLB" since i learned of the discount on this forum, not at the bar, but.. maybe she does mean the actual bar manager at the bar :banghead which makes sense to me, but considering TIT and all, and the fact i don't know the name of the actual bar manager i followed some advice posted here by MM and gave them my user name and mentioned the pages and the rate etc...but have yet to hear any more from the hotel. :drunk

Did i screw something up? :ang2 Can anyone here provide me with a helpful name or direction to pursue? If so, it would be most appreciated. Otherwise i guess i'll risk that the renaissance has completed construction and doesn't smell like paint thinner -- or the areca will have an opening...or it's back to soi 13 for this old boy.

Many thanks in advance for any help. :clap2

If asked this (new) question to confirm your booking, use the name "Martin". That's probably what they are looking for.

The deal is only on the LK Metropole now, but I have a new document with rates for all their other places as well. After I sign it, discounts at the other hotels will be available.

I don't know about a walk-in special price.

Sounds very interesting MM. I've stayed at LK Metropole 4-5 times the last couple of years but would be very happy to try their new hotel a bit closer to 2nd road in Soi Diana.

Any idea if you can help us with discounts on the other hotels within a couple of weeks?

I'm very thankful for the work you do here. :ang2

Anyone know if the "FLB rate" is still available at the LK Metropole?

I've been told by the LK Group that the FLB rate (corporate travel agent rate, really) works at all the LK properties (Renaissance, Royal Suites, Mantra Pura, and Metropole).

However, it's now low season, their occupancy numbers are down, and they are reportedly giving a better rate for walk-ins...sometimes 40-50% off. Check if they have the low season deep discount before settling for the FLB rate (which is about 35% off the published rate).

I have just booked the LK Metropole at the FLB rate of 38400 for 30 nights (1280 per night) for a Superior room for Feb 09. The response to my email enquiry was quick and the booking process was quite good. So the FLB rate is still available and a good price I would say.

Hi lads

Does this discount work on the Metro Suite? I have been trying to get a ballpark price for it but Agoda etc doesn't offer it.

Cheers

I don't know of a lodging in their group called the Metro Suite. They have a hotel called Royal Suites and I am pretty sure the FLB deal covers that as well.
