Yo Alf,

perhaps you are talking about:

Inn of the Golden Crab;

Ma maison;

Inn House;

AA residence;

or perhaps

The Lek Hotel

out of the above choices, I would choose AA or as you said the Dynasty ain't bad- I like their walk in showers big enough for 2 or 3 or 1 fat yank!!! :D

scalawag,

I find it hard to believe that we are talking about the same sandy springs hotel. I have stayed there many many times and I think it is a good bargain. For 50-100 baht more than the dynasty you get a room that is maybe 25% nicer than dynasty. flipper is a shithole and cost 700 baht a night dynasty at 950 -1000 baht is okay hotel sandy springs has better beds and nicer rooms for 1050 baht a night. what make sandy springs overrated??

alfred,

BTW down the street at beach road is the AA hotel, the other way across from sandy at 2nd road is the LEK hotel, between sandy and dynasty is whitehouse condotel. this last august the whitehouse was advertising rooms for 1150 baht. Directly across from sandy is a decent place. I haven't stayed at whitehouse but the rooms look great.

Inn house- The rooms are small but nicer similiar to SS. cost for rooms are 650-750 baht. better deal than flipper by far.

The baht has finally dropped and I have concluded that Soi 13 is my number 1 choice for sleeping.

Sandy Spring is good but as Alf said sometimes it is booked out.

I have stayed at AA Pattaya Residence which was passably Ok but the rooms were dark, and now probably darker on the Lek side.

Whitehouse seems not such a good purchase, but Inn House seems reasonable ratewise, they also have a small pool on the roof.

Whilst not giving any secrets away (unless you PM me

FWIW I first stayed SS in a suite, a waste of dough, OK you could see the sea and parsails but my 2nd floor standard room was great for about 1250.

I did have a oil massage at Inn house massage, I was very happy.

Stayed at the Inn house hotel for 7 nights last november.

Rooms are small but ok for 750 baht.

The reason why i don't stay there anymore is because you can hear everything in this hotel.

You can hear your neighbours activities in bed  . Thats not to bad though.

But people walking and talking outside your room. You can hear the elevator in the rooms surrounding or opposite.

Early at sunrise you hear all the constructionwork going on in soi 13.

Soi 13 is definitly the best place to stay, but because of the noise i don't stay there anymore.

In march i will stay at metro appartments <grin

I've stayed at Lek, Sandy Spring, and Whitehouse on Soi 13. I prefer Whitehouse by far.

Why don't you try a new area of town? There are better hotels with greater value all over town and it's fun to discover new places to eat/drink/etc.

The Sandy Spring, IMHO, has to be the most overrated hotel in Pattaya.

.....and your opinion continues to be the most contrary load of bollocks on ALL subjects. Unfortunately the means of giving you a negative reputation , which you most certainly are worthy of, if only for your continued attempts to mislead newbies, has been removed.

Certain posters should come with an automatic "ignore by default". Scalawag is top of the list. :banghead

Thanks for the heads up about noise at Inn House, it annoys me when a hotel is otherwise OK but you can hear all the various noises.

My standard room at SS was great, 2nd floor, a little bit of construction noise from over the road but I think the project is almost finished.

Soi 13 is great because it is a short walk to the beach and second road, also good massage and good falang food at Sportsmans.

If you pay bar for lady at Wonderful 2 bar, do not do it until your last couple of days, otherwise it will cause problems entering the soi from 2nd road :banghead

That's a bit harsh, don't you think? While I wouldn't say that it's the most overrated hotel in Pattaya, I do feel that it is pretty overrated.

The one with the pool in front is Golden Crab.

I stayed at Inn House a few weeks ago. Agree with the noise comments...not from the construction sites, but the room next door. Had a paper-thin adjoining door which disguised nothing!

Oh, I see.

We are all entitled to an opinion as long as it agrees with yours.

Do you have an vested interest is the Sandy Spring? You make a personal attack because I don't share your opinion of a particular hotel?

The Sandy Springs is nothing more than a Motel 6 with a view. CHEAP, right down to the carpet is an understatement, when compared to what else is available in Pattaya in that price range. The Residence Gardens, for example, is a far, far superior hotel. Unfortunately, it is not on Soi 13.

Your view of the Sandy Spring is complete bullshit. You obviously have never been in a Motel 6. I've stayed in the SS 4 times and the place is reasonable 3 Star quality and good value for money. It does have great views and it is well located. The bathrooms on Floor 8 are excellent. The bed is great (room for 3 or more). The carpet and furnishings are slightly worn but I've seen much more worn stuff in Pattaya in the same price range. I haven't stayed in RG.

You are, of course, entitled to your opinion. But I surmise you have some kind of axe to grind with the SS and any newbies considering staying there should be aware of that when considering your comments.

And I would say your view is complete and utter bullshit, but you are entitled to your opinion and if you hadn't attacked mine I wouldn't be writing this reply.

I've stay in the Sandy Spring 4 times, including one of their so called "Suites." I haven't seen the Suites on the 8th and 9th floor, which I've heard are suppose to be better.

I have no particular axe to grind with the Sandy Spring.

The place provides a view, and is in a good location, and I like the service staff, but obviously you have never been in a 3 star hotel. Well, maybe in Asia (?). Everything else about the building is of the near cheapest quality, but at least it isn't as bad as the AA two doors down on Beach Road.

They don't even have a kitchen (that right there kicks them out of the 3 or even 2 star class), but bring the food from either The Haven or The Sportsman.

As I said, I have nothing against the Sandy Spring or their staff, BUT, for the money there are much better values to be had in Pattaya.

Anyone know the difference between standard and superior rooms at Ma Maison?

I have looked at the web site and the items listed are the same, i can only think the Superior is ground floor and larger.

Before I stayed in a superior, it was OK but nothing special.

I may try the standard which is 900.

TIA

In the last 12 months I have stayed at whitehoues condotel 2 times. Good rooms internet connection is not wireless built a direct connect bring your own cat5 connectors cable and you won't have to pay for a cable. Very good internet. The rooms have double glass vinyl windos and doors and are very quite. Good parking for your car as well. :thumbup

I enquired to Ma Maison about rates, and they e-mailed back that they have reserved a very nice standard rom for me

Just to add some fuel to the SS war thats going on, I have stayed there twice, once a suite about 7th floor, IMHO not worth the money, it is just 2 adjoining rooms.

Last trip i got a room on 2nd floor, standard but quite large, very clean and OK.

I would stay SS again but my room at MaMaison works out around 2000 cheaper over the week, there will be no shortage of takers to get their little hands on that. :gulp

I have never stayed at the Sandy Springs... but I have stayed at the Ma Maison a couple of times.

I thought the standard rooms were just OK... kinda small and dark for me. Even a little musty. There is a small in room safe.

On my last visit there.. I was in a standard room and checked out to a different hotel after one night. I believe the Superior rooms may be better. Nice people there and a nice pool.

It is worth checking out.

Dynasty

Stayed there this year its ok, internet was always down though, and they charged 500 to transfer to the dynasty in Bangkok. Its a bog standard hotel and great if you only monger like sleep and shag.

Sandy spring.

Stayed there when it first opend and really liked it moved to Areca lodge after 5 nights of hell when they

started all the construction work on soi13.

The suits seem to be two rooms connected with a small kitchen

The rooms overlooking the pool have a good view and the rooms

overlooking the soi can be a bit noisy if you like the window/door to the balcony

open.

Lek hotel

not strictly soi 13 but the pool is again its ok the older rooms look a bit tatty but thats los for you

The Haven

stayed there once a few years ago mind the room was small and smelt moved to SS first oppotunity

So,SS,Dynasty,Lek

All about the same some good points some not so good I would stay in all of them for up to a week

no problem long term not so sure.

I like soi 13 for its location and I am out looking for a ST in TQ1

in the afternoon and walking street in between so I just shag ,SSS,sleep watch a bit of tv and thats it

if thats ok with you stay in any of the three

SS,dynasty,lek
