Do you need a perscription to get perscription mediciation at pharmacies in Pattaya? Although following the old OH&S creed saftey first, I still would like to get myself a perscription of Zythromax to take on the long flight home, to cure anything that might slip past the 1st couple of lines of defence. If you don't need a perscription for antibiotics, where would the Yoda's of the board suggest is a reputable pharmacy in Pattaya that doesn't pass of counterfit meds.

If you find your medicines in an ordinary pharmacy you don't need a prescription or is illegal as viagra and cialis. Some medicines are just found in the hospital pharmacies and there you need a presciption from a doctor working in that hospital.

I get my blood pressure medication at a pharmacy on 2nd Road without the need for a prescription and for a fraction of the cost in the UK.

I also get my supply of generic Cialis from the same pharmacy.

I got a tooth pulled and got a prescription from the dentist I went to pharamcist at Big C and he recomended stronger pain kiilers than prescribed.

I always buy my viagra (clones) corner soi3 and 2nd road and I also got some antibiotics for a chest infection I caught at my last stay from a Pharmacists in Soi Bakhou.

You shouldn't have any problems getting what you want , however you will need to check what the law is in your country becuase I think it is illegal to carry prescription medicine without a prescription through customs.

not strictly legal but if you have a prescription drug that you use at home, take the packaging with you to LOS. your name will be on the packet/bottle. if you get the same stuff in Pats put it in the packaging.

this is ok if you are using the same product of course.

my doctor knows i travel a lot and i have a covering letter from him with the list of prescription drugs that i need. (asthma etc)

best to cover yourself rather than get nailed.

having said that, baht seems to get whatever you need in LOS.

Thanks folks. With Zythromax I only need an inital dosage of 2 grams then two follow up dosages of 500 mg one at 12 hrs and one at 24 hrs. Thats enough to cure almost anything bacteria wise. So having to take it back across the line is not an issue. However I never thought about getting a covering letter from my Doctor back home about my other medications, I could probably save a shit load of money on my Migraine medication. The money I save could be thrown in the fun budget.

Thanks

It isn't actually. If you mean STD's it is good for one (Chlamydia) , maybe two really though not the drug of choice for the 2nd.(Gonorrhea) as you need the oral suspension, not the tablets. For Chlamydia you do not need to take as much as you say, e.g. you take just one gram, once. And it is worthless against most others.

The generic name is far more common in 3rd world countries, e.g Azithromycin, vs. the trade name which is spelled Zithromax.

If one was trying to find a true "one drug does most" it would be doxycycline but you have to take it for a week. Prevents malaria but adds undesirable but manageable photosensitivity.

Prices slightly higher and maybe less stock of obscure stuff (and probably no non-brand imitation of viagra) but for antibiotics I'd recommend the Boots in Royal Garden Plaza.

my 2 baht... Needed major pain killers before but pharmacy "doctor" would not give me shit. returned to another pharmacy with a GF who explained farang was in pain and received much better medicine this time. Went to hospital last trip and while the service was super fast and effiecient, recieved crap in the way of pain killers. I think it helps if you know where to go and whom to talk with. If you need good meds, take a local.

The best pharmacy here in Pattaya is Fascino - this is located on Pattaya Nua - its on the other side of the street from Lotus and approx 200 meters west of 3rd road (heading towards beach road) - large orange building and lots of parking - prices are cheaper than any other pharmacy i have visited - i found savings of 65% over what i was paying at Bangkok Pattaya Hospital for High Bood Pressure medicine - most of the sales staff speak english - get a member card if you spend more than 1000 baht for free and this will save you an additional 5%

if you are loking to buy Kamagra ( generic viagra) the best prices are at the pharmacy next to Tim's Beer Bar on second road - a 4 pack will run about 200 baht

I think that taking a medicine 'just in case' is not a good idea. With antibiotics the more they are used the more resistant the bugs become to it. I believe that doctors hand out antibiotics too readily. It is quite possible that at some time in the future this will bite us on the arse. If the bugs are resistant to the antibiotics we have then we are stuck with the little critters. My advice would be buy them but only take them if/when you notice the first symptoms.

Hello,

Could anyone assist me in finding a good pharmacy in Jomtien area as one pharmacy would not give OTC for non-prescription (e.g Xanax/Valium) or nearby?

Thankyou

Andrew

Wasn't aware those had nonprescription variations. If I'm incorrect, it might be the one you went to didn't stock the nonprescription variation. Also, they may not have understood exactly what you were asking for.

I thought Fascino on Pattaya Nua was the best for a while, until I was told about the pharmacy located on Sukhumvit. It is located on the left side of Sukhumvit about 100 metres after Highway 7 joins Sukhumvit driving South towards Pattaya Klang.

The pharmacy building is painted green and not hard to find. Slow down before you get there on the left lane. I normally have no difficulties finding a parking spot on Sukhumvit close to the pharmacy with only Thai writing on it. They have 3 ladies working in there, one of them a pharmacist, have a good command of English. Unlike Fascino, where they seem to be always out of stock of certain medicines or other things sold in pharmacies and with quite a few clueless sales people as well, the "Green Pharmacy" seems to have most things in stock with often cheaper prices than Fascino.

The knowledgeable ladies there always seem to find quickly what you are after and have all your blood pressure medications as well. If they don't have an item in stock they will be happy to tell you where you can buy them. Like Fascino they don't sell drugs which can only prescribed lawfully by a doctor in a hospital.

The Pharmacy next to Tim's has been known to sell you sexual enhancer pills for as long as I can remember. Cheers. :thumbup

You can get Zythro at a pharmacy without a prescription. Same goes for Cippro, Amoxycillin, etc.

Amoxycillin is 60 Baht for course of 500mg tabs for generic and 120 Baht for original. Mate recently bought original and I got generic subsequently no prescription obviously
