Not sure your price range, but I've heard Sandy Springs is a good hotel and some rooms have sea view. Probably around 1500 baht for sea view room.

AAA is an older, rundown hotel right on Beach Road, I think 13/2. Perhaps less than 1000 baht.

Sandy spring has sea views from some of the rooms the top floor

were suits, but 7 has good views. Some rooms are on the floor

with the swimming pool so can get a bit loud.

Its a busy place so you may need to book

Been Sandy Spring a few times and really like the hotel and location. I always ask for room over looking the pool and not the road, you can get discount card which i use whenever i go.

Dynasty Inn in my opinion is horrible and i left after one night in that dump....

One mans paradise is another mans............. I've stayed there 4 or 5 times and always liked the place. Comfortable bed, clean room, quiet, good staff, and now have in-room safes. Was better when they left the parking area doors open past 6, and the pool is pretty small, but all-in-all I'd recommend the DI to anyone. Well 'cept you cus you don't like it. :bj2

True, the only reason i went to Dynasty was because i could only get a week at sandy spring as they were booked up after that. In Dynasty the room was given was small, very dark because had wooden walls, dark tinted glass windows and just one or two lights. I hated it, and it was the same price as sandy spring.

If you always had nice experiences maybe i was just given a shit room or something, well for whatever reason its always put me off ever going back there or recommending the place....

I stayed here for three weeks - no real grumbles - perhaps a touch expensive, but soi 13 is location, location, location.

Outstanding laundy service - they use a professional dry cleaner - no other issues.

Would I stay again - no - reason is for another 750 baht max (with bartering) I could have got a Paradise room at the Sabia Resort with use of an empty pool in low season. I wasted so much on booze and LD, that a may as well have stayed at the Sabia Resort.

Either that or the Robins Nest or Rockhouse - both looked good value for money - was not so keen on Jasmine - seems 150 baht overpriced for area.

But if money was not a factor, I'd definately book the Sabia Resort again in low season *not the Sabia Lodge coz it's now quite old*

But only the Whitehouse is in the soi 13 area you mention - so if soi 13 is your pleasure -then my tip is the Whitehouse for you.

Possibly. I tend to think of things in terms of what suits a person. For me DI was acceptable, and for you it was not.

I can relate. I've never returned to the Flipper Lodge because the Sea-View room I had was loud as fuck from the bar music blaring. Might be less noisy in a room at the back of the hotel, but I'll never know :D

Can anyone provide further information regarding the discount card? Is this something issued by the hotel? How much is the discount on the room and is there any criteria required to get the discount card?

I know the suite has in room safe but does the normal standard room have in room safe? I had a look at the standard room with balcony in December but don't recollect if it has in room safe or not.

When I was at the Sandy Springs last Feb I was told that the discount card had been discontinued. Not sure if they started again. I think the price for the card before was 400 baht. Best thing is to just send them an email.

Normal rooms don't have safes, but there are safety boxes at reception. I like staying there a lot, and reception/ girls id check is much nicer than at Condotel. Also stayed at the new AA Residence, just up the Soi, next to the Lek. Brand new, and should be easy to get a room there, unlike SS.

Stayed at the Sandy Spring last June for 8 nights. Nice location (sorta quiet), nice service, decent rooms, and good views of both sea and/or pool.

Also had free wifi while there, probably because of the season...look around on their site.

Didn't know they had wifi. Did it work ok? I'm booked there starting on Jan. 26th.

Lots of different room choices, starting with a standard with king bed and shower/tub combo for 1000 baht, moving up to a somewhat larger room with balcony for 1400, I think. Then there is a room with an extra twin bed just off the entry (use your imagination, lol), otherwise same as the larger room for 1650. Finally a suite, not sure but I think it had a tub/shower combo too, around 1800 baht as I recall, thus a bit cheaper than Sandy Spring on the suite plus brand new. No room safes, but safety boxes at reception. All room prices include a buffet breakfast that runs until 11AM, so I made it a few times. Very nice staff, especially at reception (Mary and Jan). The owner gave them English names so the customers could remember them easier. It must work, Mary was planning a trip to England for Christmas with her new bf last time I was there. No wifi, but there are coin-op machines in the lobby, 10 baht/10 minutes 24/7. In house travel agent. I'm staying there again on the 24th. Anything else?
