What's happened to Misty's?

Recommended Posts

I went into Mistys last week with two mates (both boardies here).

First time I've been in for nearly two years. Although I had some issues with the place in the past, it always had a great selection of quality birds. Last Saturday it was 90% mingers, and numbers were well down. Numbers on punters were well down also (to be fair, several places in town were quiet that night.)

The young bloke with us pulled a reasonable looking lass, but we two 50-year olds were totally blanked in the time we were there. A few girls sat around in ones and twos puffing on smokes and not worrying about customers. PSP was sat at a table with one other bloke we recognised from the boards, not really giving a toss about what was going on in the place.

So what is the role of the farang manager in these places? Clearly not to set the atmosphere or keep the girls hustling.

My info is you can buy 20% shares in Mistys right now if you've got silly money, but Partyhead also owns the freehold so the place is stuck in Pattayaland, while more and more punters seem to be attracted to the expanding number of bright and shiny go-gos around Walking St.

Damn shame really.

Pattayaland has perhaps the best set of neon displays of any street outside of Walking Street. Many newbies therefore get distracted and go there not knowing that there better bars in Walking street.

The bars there know that the guys will eventually discover walking street so they try to hustle them for as much money as they can - the chief amongst these being Kitten club.

Pattayaland was always too close to comfort to Boys town for me in case I got drunk and wander into that L shaped bit connecting the two Pattayaland sois.

As for Misty's it would be a shame if it has gone down hill until you realise that there are now 80 go go bars operating in Pattaya. On a week's holiday you would need to visit a dozen different ones every day to get through them all.

I noticed that Misty's now sells a "Lady Cocktail" at 165 Baht.

The old Pattayaland rip off venues have all now changed hands except Kitten Club

Classroom, Mistys, Rodeo Girls, Spicy and Popcorn are all now decently run.

However for some strange reason to do with neon and newbies the bars in Pattayaland are still more expensive than Walking Street. In addition Wlaking Street wins hands down in terms of nudity and naughtiness.

Pattayaland ends up as simply poor value

To be fair I think a PM to PSP - Paul at Mistys may be in order as it cant be fixed if he is unaware...I was in patts a week or so back and went twice to mistys and agree the standard of girls was down but it was ok for a drink etc...again talk to the boss and its the best way to get a result...I will as well as I know him and he is more than keen to receive feedback....Jboy

Did you READ the O.P. it clearly states that PAUL the manager was in attendance at that time and appeared to have no interested in either the bored customers or the behaviour of his smoking skanks,so exactly what good a P.M. or E-mail would do defeats me! :D :D

A couple of years ago visting MistysI found theplace was too damn cold but this year PSP had posted in answer to my complaint that the temperature had been raised. So this Sept called in and sure enough you could have adrink without freezing.

Now my chicken days are well and truly gone but that didn`t stop the girls from giving me a lot of attention,so no complaints from me. Let me also say that Paul is a top notch host.

???

I was just there last month, and in Misty's on several occasions and sure didn't find the place to be as you reported. Sure, one off night happens most every place, but you do admit that the town was slow that particular night. I am puzzled why you would write this negatvie report?

Could it be that your "past issues with Misty's" play any part?

As far as PSP goes, I would rank him right at the top of Host's in any go-go.

No doubt the entire soi has gone down in recent years compared to what it used to be, but look at the number of go-go's that have been built and are now up and running on WS.

Met with Paul many times when he managed Lennies. feck I was in there every night of my stay. Have to say he was always alert at what was going on in the bar, and took time out for every customer. between them Paul & Joy keep a good joint and watchful of the girls too :finger

I was there a couple of nights ago. Four girls on stage and about the same number of punters. The place was certainly a pretty poor imitation of what it was a couple of years ago.

The customer has no responsibility to seek out management and tell them where they are going wrong. It's simply a case a check bin, strike the place of your list of places to do and head on out to one of the many decent bars/gogos in town. :D

I go to Mistys infrequently (1-2 times /month) as it's not on my normal route. Paul has always been a great host (you buy, he buys or vice versa) and the quality of the girls has been up/down. Last time there about 2 weeks ago there were some hot girls. Time to stop in again and check it out.

Horses for courses guys. Mistys has always been a good go-go and one of the only where the girls are not hassling you all the time for lady drinks. Whilst some girls will automatically come up to you and molest, most will wait until you ask. Hence you don't get stuck with a dog and have trouble getting rid of her. There are some really great girls at Mistys and all you have to do is make the effort. The only time I have seen only 4 girls on stage has been in the afternoon when quiet or when there is a show on. It is always on my visit list and luckily away from the wild Walking Street if you want a little peace. Almost all of the girls speak fairly good english also. Paul is a top host and when Andy is in he makes the effort to talk and drink with everyone too.

Just my penny's worth.

Hi Guys

Well, thanks to those who have responded favourably to this Thread, I am glad you have all enjoyed your experiences at Misty's and thank you for your kind words.

To the OP and those of you who have not found the venue to your liking I am obviously sorry to learn that you were disappointed.

As others have already commented, we try our best to operate a "No Hassle" Policy at Misty's. Generally the Mamasan will introduce herself to Customers and ask them whether they wish any of our girls to join them. In addition, Customers are, of course, free to call over a girl they may be interested in.

With regards to the number and quality of girls at Misty's we have experienced an unprecented number of Barfines, during my time working there, over the past two Saturdays which may explain the shortage that has been commented about. I can assure you that on both of the previous two Saturday Nights we have started the evenings with a Line Up exceceding 30 girls. The fact that so many Barfines have followed throughout the evening suggests to me that there can't be much wrong with the quality!

As noted by the OP, I was present in the bar during his visit and clearly visible. If any Customer experiences something not to their liking then I would welcome their feedback in order that I can do my best to address any problems.

I work on the basis that while some Customers are happy to meet and chat with the Manger or Owner of a Bar, others prefer to be left alone. I do my best to strike the right balance between the two and if a few sensitive souls feel ignored then I guess that is the price to be paid for trying to achieve a sensible balance.

As can be observed from here and other Forums, the overwhelming majority of comments and feedback received about Misty's is extremely favourable but I guess we can't please all of the people, all of the time!

Regards

Paul

As far as I am concerned PS2 is not the Soi it used to be and the only reason for me to ever go there nowadays is Mistys still. Some nights it has a lot of good girls and some nights not much to write home about. lol. But that is the same with most bars. One thing I always say about Mistys is that I always get a decent reception and mates to chat with. It is not on my normal route but sometimes I go there just cos I like the place.

I always enjoy my time in there but rarely leave with any of the girls, or even look at the stage sometimes. I go there because I enjoy Paul's company. I first met him at Lennie's and followed him to his new place of work (and just by the way, look at the huge crowds mobbing his old place of work since he left ... not).

The only annoying thing is that Paul seems to be bobbing up every 2 or 3 minutes to sort out some problem he has spotted which can make conversation difficult. I'd say that means that either I'm a boring bastard that he can't wait to get away from, or he's keeping a close eye on what's happening in the bar. Erm ... I mean ... maybe I better ask Joy what the real story is.

i have always found mistys to be a very good place to go, i am in CM at the moent but last week went into mistys 4 or 5 times, and seen some very nice looking girls there each time, there has always been a good slection when i go but i do tend to visit early around 9 or 10, so maybe they get BFd after i leave.

nowadays i go in with TGF and still find the girls frendly, and find both Joy and wats his name to be good hosts, dont know what the attatud of the OP was on the night they were in, but i have seen good looking girls all over 50 something guys a lot in there soooooooo?????

A bar is not just about good looking girls. It is a sum total of girls that have a good attitude, looks too, a friendly atmosphere where you feel comfortable , maybe good music if that is your thing, decently priced drinks and so on...

And knowing PSP, the mix can NOT go wrong... Just as dogblower stated, I met Paul at Lennies and followed him into Misty's to meet him and have not been disappointed ever...

Yes I have had my great times at Misty's years ago. Even Rodeo girls used to have a fab environment and a very friendly manager at one point in time...

Sometimes however, one wrong day, wrong timing, wrong approach towards a particular girl or even a whimsical mood swing can lead to disappointment and this can happen in any place of entertainment. And the damage that a report on one such incident can do to a bar\go-go (especially in a forum read by many new comers to the scene) can undo a lot of hard work put in by the bar management.

I only hope therefore that the OP (who obviously speaks about years of experience at Misty's) takes cognisance of all the praise that is being showered on the place and on PSP (not because any of us have any financial interest in the concern, but the valuable, time tested friendship of PSP), gives the place another visit and has a swell time there...

Can you actually UNDERSTAND what you read? In no way was I being critical of Paul (psp) simply stating the obvious that being once AGAIN for your benefit that an E-mail etc to him informing him about a situation that happened on his watch, whilst he was in charge/attendance would achieve exactly what?

You cannot say that his attention was elsewhere as the place was deserted, please be my guest and deliver a copy of this to him for his perusal (as it seems you have nothing better to occupy your time with),there is absolutely no criticism of Paul there anyway, simply an observation regarding the stupidity of your comments!

Unfortunately I shall not be there in December, but had I been there is no way I would want your company on my adventures! :D :bow :D

If this is a sample of what you consider to be a "Constructive response" then well I think U know ...... !

Hi guys, long time no see! Just bumped into Martin the other night and, at his suggestion, thought I'd have another looky-see at this board.

As many of you know Misty's is my favorite gogo bar in town. The girls are very pretty (though not the prettiest -- that honour goes to Catz), and yes it is COLD, as the owner is a penguin, and certainly the drinks are a teensy bit high priced for an out-of-the-way gogo bar in what is basically a gay area of town.

But! It's my favorite bar because the service is top notch, the girls are friendly without hassling me, the beer is always cold, and there's always somebody like PSP or Andy or one of the regulars to have a chat with.

Skipperk put it best. As a bar manager, you can't win. If your girls don't rush over to greet every customer, somebody is bound to say they're not friendly. On the other hand, if the ugliest girl plunks herself down next to you and gives you the watyouname youcumfum melikeyou youbuymedink megodancenow routine, you drain your beer quickly and leave. (The Roxy is the worst culprit in this department but there are many others)

At Misty's, the girls are told not to hassle the customers. If you want a girl to sit with you, ask Joy, the lovely and talented mamasan, to bring over the girl of your choice. Just smile at the girls on stage, you're sure to get a smile or two back.

The customer base is mostly expats and for us, service is what counts. I like a bar where everyone knows my name, where they get the drink orders right (gin when I ask for gin and not methylated spirits) and where my favorite girls stop by to say hello and fluff me. In short, I feel comfortable.
