Displayed prices are for multiple nights. Check the site for price per night. I see hostels starting at 200b/day and hotels from 500b/day on agoda.

What would your opinions be about room size.....in sq meters.

Small is xx meters square?.....large is??

Some hotel websites list the room size, as do some booking agency sites. Not as much as I would like to see it though.

If you want to take that a bit farther, those in the know could list hotels/rooms that would be considered to have small rooms to avoid and hotels where space allocated is generous, without breaking the bank for daily rates.....<2000 baht daily.

Here's a very useful site I use all the time for such things . . . . .

Measurement Conversions

What I was looking for.... are members opinions on how many square meters constitute a "small room" "average room" and "large room"

Example:.... A small room would be <25 sq meters, or....40> sq mtr is a large room.

Sky-Top has three sizes of rooms. The large is about 40 sq mtr and goes for 700-750 per night. I always stay in the large room. The others are smaller and cheaper but I don't know the size. Cheapest goes for 450. www.skytopcenterpattaya.com

Yensabai Condo has even bigger rooms maybe 45-50 sq mtr. Check for current pricing www.pattayarentaroom.com FWIW, I liked the rooms there and I think they are excellent value for the money.

Ok....40 sq is a large room....sound about right.....more???

Continuing along with what D has to say about "value" for the money.....

Just what are the various opinions as to "value for the money"?

I see that phrase often and wonder if it's just an objective term, or is there some factually based rhyme or reason to it??

The largest room at the Skytop is made up of two standard 4mx4m townhouse units. The supporting beam at the 4m point runs down the centre of the room. The actual floor area was nearer to 29 sq m.

If you are booking into Galaxy Suites above Heaven's Above go go bar in Soi Diamond then I would not recommend that you bring along the family cat...because if you go into the bathroom there is not enough room to swing one.

The bathroom consists of a 3 foot square room with a shower head suspended directly above the toilet seat. Try as hard as you can whilst having a shower you will not be able to avoid completely soaking the toilet.

I look at the price first. Location second and then I look for a place that's clean. Rooms serviced daily. Clean sheets every two days and laundry service that's priced right with quick turn around. If there's a problem with say the AC or TV, etc how quickly does the owner get it repaired or do you get a lot of excuses.

One has to remember the price point one is paying and not to expect a 4 star facility at $14USD per night.

As far as the size of the large room, I haven't measured it but it looks to be about 30' long and at least 10'-13' wide.

Not far off. I have and it is 26'3" long by 13'0" wide at its widest points. The actual floor area is slightly less than 30 sq m.

With few exceptions it would most certainly be an objective term. It's no different than for cars, food, clothes, women, gadgets etc. etc. etc.

I basically base a hotels value on comfort (bed being #1) and convienence, with price being last on my list, though certainly I have a ceiling on my price-point.

One mans treasure..........

I stayed in a 28 meter sq room for 3 months this year and , it was small,in the past I stayed in a 32 meter sq room for the same length of time and it was adequate.anything under 28 sq would in my opinion be SMALL.

I stayed in a 12 meter square room for 2 years, 4 months. It was adequate but not luxurious.

My wife lives in my cellar which is even smaller. She has been there for 6 years now and I haven't heard her complain once yet :bow

Why should she? Sometimes self enforced solitary confinement is the most attractive of the available options ... :D
