I was thinking of going out fishing on one of the days I'm in Patts, does anyone recommend a particular charter and how much would I be looking at, how long do they go out for and are drinks and food provided?

I was thinking of bringing one of my fishing rods along and try my luck on one of the piers, but it'd be a hassle to carry and if I didn't get round to using it it'd just be a nuisance.

Cheers

Thanks aussie, oi oi oi!

Problem with pier fishing is one we dont have have piers since the one on beach road was knocked down and two the places to fish from the shore are in the full sun. Bali Hi might be half decent now but you cant fish on it unless you are a TG who I know who spends many nights a week there after work catching squid.

Sorry nearly forgot. There arn't any decent fish in shore as polution keeps them away and the Thais eat them when they are still fry.

Erik at the Scandi Bar got a boat for serious fishing. With tanks for live bait and all.

He can do food as well from his restaurant.

You need the 12 hrs trip for real fishing when you head for the reefs halfway to Hua Hin (joking).

Halfday is fun but you will only get the reefs around Asia hotel and Koh Larn

If you just want the tourist fishing you can get a boat for 2-3000 at beach road.

Anyone ever tried fishing at the bali hi pier? (Hilly?) Sounds like a great "afternoon do", with a crate of cold beer.

As I think I said fishing on Bali Hi is not allowed and security likely to chuck you off the pier.

You can try fishing of the commercial fishing pier that is just off soi 14 naklua rd(I think),its the same soi as the sanctuary of truth and also has some sea food places there as well.

I find that the fishing is pretty poor no matter where you fish in Pattaya but a good day out can be had if you get the right boat and the right companions. A heavy set of gear is not required in Pattaya and the lightweight tackle that (most of) the boats provide is more than adequate .
