Pattaya Beer Garden update - 8 October 2008

Recommended Posts

I've been busy the last couple of weeks making the Pattaya Beer Garden video. It will be appearing on Pattaya People TV channel, six times a day starting Friday. However if you would like a preview you can watch it streamed and if you like download a high definition or DVD quality version.

We also featured in the Pattaya People newspaper "Eating In and Eating Out" dining guide this week. You can read their review here.

We did struggle with the Pizza thing for a while but seem to have the system working well now. It seems we had the wrong type of pizza oven. So now we have a new one and in the main the comments have been positive. Thai food however still outsells pizzas by about 30 to 1.

Business has been good and despite all the doom and gloom around Pattaya at the moment, I am feeling very positive about the PBG. With the news that Soi 6, Soi 7 and Soi 8 are not going to be allowed to open in the afternoon, I'm hoping we may get a freelancer increase during those times. They are still fairly light in numbers during the day but we have an embarrassment of riches from around 9 pm each evening with far more ladies than guys.

Short and sweet for this update. I hope you enjoy the video and do feel free to share it with anyone you want to. I will be posting a lower quality version on you tube shortly.

I gotta admit you had me ROTHLMAO on this one Pete. How did you find a pizza oven that wasn't intended for making pizzas?

Nice video although I wonder if there should be a "no pants, no shirt, no service" policy.

So you hope they all do an early shift at the PBG rather than the beach? Positive thinking...

The drinkers will go to PBG rather than the beach. No harm in the girls going there to drum up business for later on. I can see Pete doing all right out this. You go to the PBG for a quiet beer and meet a honey who works in one othe Soi6, 7,8 bars and find out where she works. Home at 5 O, Clock for a shower and then straight to where she works.

Nice video Pete, agree with Short on the shirt policy though. Just shows no class (on the customers part) IMHO. Ok at a beach bar but a restaurant . :ang2

But I wouldn’t put my mortgage on the soi 6 bars staying closed till 6pm for to long.

Looked like there was a few prospects worth checking out on the lady front when I visit again in November. :D

Also what’s with the funny “wave/dance” thing going on

The no shirt guy caused a few negative comments around the internet. I must admit it never occured to me that it would be a problem. Out on the balconys lots of guys expose their manly chests during the day. I've never seen anyone do it at night or in the bar itself.

Personally I find it quite acceptable to catch a few rays during the day if your sitting at a table away from anyone else. Remeber Pattaya can be hot.

Is there a consensus on this? What do you think? If enough people don't like it I suppose we could put up a sign (topless sunbathing not permitted).

On second thought maybe it should say Female topless sunbathing permitted, Male topless sunbathig not allowed.

Thread on Secrets on the same subject, seems to be a consensus on the subject;

The "wave" is a great idea Pete!

It could become your trademark!

We need to Film around town getting everyone to do the "Beer garden Wave". This would include the mayor, some police, Walking st entertainers, Thai Elvis, Someone on a "beer garden" advertised baht bus, Soemone super-imposed on the big walking st screen...etc etc

Could be done easily Pete!!

Hi Pete

I have to disagree with both ThaiLearner and Pattaya Mad. (No wait a minute - double negative in Pattaya Mad's post - what are we to make of that???!!!)

I'm with Montydog. Shirts should go on when leaving the beach or poolside and be worn at ALL TIMES elsewhere. That's just a question of class - in my case "working".

(Unless you're in the Cap d'Agde Naturist Village of course).

Chances of TGs going topless ZERO so a blanket ban (i.e. no blankets allowed either!)

Oh yeh... must have a look at your vid (what was the OP about?????)

I agree it shouldn't be allowed.

Sweat running down all over the tables where others want to eat.

Very uncivilised. Must have been from the North of England/Scotland (same same)

Sadly I must agree he is likely to be from these shores. However, I would not confine the locality to the north of England/Scotland. Anywhere in the UK is capable of providing that sort of specimen.

What's up with "The Wave"? Throughout the whole video I kept thinking of the movie "Karate Kid", where the kid is taught katate with "Wax on / Wax off" motions. If you have ever seen this movie, watch the video again - You will have a great laugh!

Is there a consensus on this? What do you think? If enough people don't like it I suppose we could put up a sign (topless sunbathing not permitted).

As far as the shirtless issue goes, I guess I would fall on the side of "keep them on". Actually one guy on the patio wouldn't bother me, but if it is policy, you might get a whole bunch of shirtless guys. Then it would bother me. The PBG is a place where food is served!

And as far as a sign is concerned, there is a common one here in the USA (and maybe elsewhere in the world): "No Shirt, No shoes, ........No service" Enforce it and your problem is solved. Although in a beach area bar, the "shoes" part may be optional.

If a guy has to keep his shirt on we wouldn't get to see all those lovely tattoos and know who he supports and how tough he is! :D

Classless yes, but Mr tourist wants his rays methinks....

Compromise..... no bare breasts (and maybe smoking) at the bar.

Sun goes down, shirts worn by all.......

I too agree that shirts, shoes or sandals should be required in any public place. In the interests not only of decency but moreso, health concerns of body hair, this is not proper hygiene nor is it sanitary.

A thai would never eat without a shirt in a public restaurant so we should all do the same.

A beach is the proper place to be topless never a bar or restaurant.
