Xmas flight prices from U.K !

Recommended Posts

Any tips from anyone would be appreciated.

Im hoping to get to Pattaya for Xmas and New year. I have never been over this period and I'm very suprised at the flight prices.

Having searched online for return flights I am getting prices of £1100 to £1800 return !

A couple of years ago I flew out of Heathrow with Thai direct to BKK for just under £500 return in August and stayed for 3 1/2 weeks.

I'm not fussy which airport I go from in U.K as I have to travel anyway and I'm flexible on the dates (to an extent). I can fly anytime after 18th Dec but want to be there for 22nd - 23rd. As long as I am back by 7th Jan all is cool.

I just think £1100 + is a bit steep even if it is Xmas holiday.

Ok, I know I'm a cheap Charlie but hey - anyone know any cheaper flights?

I was surprised too, £1100 sounded good for Christmas travel.

Lastminute.com came up with Air France at £805 from Manchester.

From LHR Transaero (who?...Russia) for £711, Air China for £842

Prices have not come down this year, in fact, they have gone up. I normally book around June for Xmas/NY but this year none of my favourite airlines had any good deals so I waited until they did. In the end they didn't so I ended up booking Gulf for £785, the most I have paid by far. :beer

Im looking for flights for Songkran next year but still put my dates in for Xmas so I can see what a good deal I got.

Just put my dates 15th Dec - 4th Jan on Netlights and got £879 with Emirates from Man to Bkk. Etihad is over 1k so looks like a good deal as I booked 4 months ago with Etihad for £750.

My tip would be book earlier you have left it way to late for this time of year.

I booked in May arriving 30th December for £530 direct

Good price but doesn't meet his needs-he wanted to be the FOR Christmas.

Beats me why anyone would want to spend their Xmas surrounded by the sort of pissed-up tossers that Pattaya normally attracts over that period.

Humbug. :ang2

Because it's better than being at home surrounded by the pissed-up tossers that I normally see all year long.

Glyn.

Try World wide flights, ring this number...0208 782 4486,they are quoting on their website flights from as low as £490.However they may only be a hook to get you to ring, but ive used them before, very good service.

Good price but doesn't meet his needs-he wanted to be the FOR Christmas.

But if he had booked it at the time the poster you refer to did, he could presumably have chosen any day to fly for around the same money. Leaving it until 2 weeks beforehand when all the news has been that airlines are withdrawing capacity is not the way to get a cheap flight.

When booking ahead, one has to consider the potential upside, which is little on a £500 fare being further discounted, against the downside of that £500 fare turning into £850 or £1000 or more.
