Review: FastTrack VIP Customs airport service

This trip I tried the FastTrack VIP service at the airport, and it was worth the 1,400B.

 

They have a rep meet you at the gate along with a porter to take your bags, and they escort you to the VIP Customs area to clear your passport. There was no line and zero wait.

 

Once the porter picks up your check bags you go through the final bag screening. This VIP service often gets you waived through without checking your bags, but apparently my bags were suspiciously heavy so they still xrayed them.

 

I was sweating a bit because I decide to bring *a lot* of "toys" with me this trip (as lovely parting gifts for the girls) - including large packs of AA & AAA batteries that apparently look a lot like bullets in the xray. But I played it cool while the Customs officer had me open the bag & briefly poked around inside. I was expecting anything from a fine to them confiscating everything or worse - but he just waived me through. Would that have happened without the VIP escort? I don't know, but it probably didn't hurt.

I'm in for April. They escort me through arrivals and departure, provide a taxi to my hotel in BKK on arrival. Later

I return from Songkran in the sticks from Khon Khaen at 9p .And they park me in the business class lounge until my return

flight at 12mid. Package D 3,900 baht. Thanks Smelly

doesn't make much sense to me. or in some cases, 14oo baht to avoid teh short line and a walk straight to the taxi if you packed light.

Depends what time you arrive but I never find the regular immigration lines to be short nor fast moving.

Much better in the last couple of years than when the airport opened. Now way better than DM ever was.

Before my trip in November, I would have agreed with you. It was a nasty shock arriving (at around 4pm on 11 November) to find that most of the desks were being used yet the whole hall was full and overflowing quite a way down the ramp.

I agree but the fastest time I ever got out of a airport was at DM. They bussed us to immigration, no line, my bag was #2 off the plane and walked through customs. This took a grand total of 15 minutes.

You've got to try and avoid the Ivans and other visa requiring countries as when their jumbos dump people it is always a struggle. Never the right paperwork, can't speak a normal language and are as thick as shit.

I find the immigration delay for daytime arrival means the luggage is there when I get through.

Although I came in Biz Class last time and was given a pass through Fast Track, great, through in 2 minutes, had to wait 20 for suitcase though...:

Reminds me of last October, I was first off the Emirates 380 and walked quickly because I didn't want to be behind the full plane load of passengers. Only 2 ahead of me in the immigration queue, so through almost immediately. 35 minutes I waited for my bags. 35 minutes.

Doubt it, it is just economy with a wider seat and no other privelidges isn't it.... like BA's Traveller Plus.

Thai Air does give priority boarding. And its more than just a wider seat. The whole seat actually rotates so that it cradles you. The seat pitch is about 40 inches allows a much greater recline. Its more like sleeping in a lazy boy chair.

Get some money spent and fly busness class (but not Thai), many more privelidges including fast track.

My last seat on Qatar had seat pitch at about 80 inches and reclined 180... but that made my back ache!
