I'll be in LOS the first two weeks of june so Ive been looking, waiting, hoping for a nice deal on airfare. I figure with whats be going on in the city, carriers would not have the demain by the public for seats. In return, I felt it would be fairly easy to find a nice price...WRONG!! Eva air, from LAX TO BKK just jumped from 1478 to 3000usd. Thats insane. THai air may be my pick, as they are around 1800 for the same class. As far as economy, with EVA, they're sold out.

Are you saying that's the cheapest flight you can find? $3000? Or the cheapest EVA? What's wrong with Thai Air at $1800? Is that Premium Economy?

You should be able to find something in the $1200 range easily from LAX.

May, June is the start of holiday season for N. Americans. Additionally Asian students in the US and Canada are returning home at the end of the school year and they normally book far ahead. The difficulty is getting a seat to Tokyo and Taipei for the onward to Bangkok.

Ive decided to flip my trips. Ill be going to peru and cuzco in june and use my September holiday for LOS. I'd rather deal with rainy days in September and cheaper fares than go in June, get ripped off and only have a week to spend in the country :ang2

But Al Davis always gets ripped off. But the Raiders did have a very good draft this year.

You're travelling during peak season in America. Ticket prices from America are typically higher from May to September than the rest of the year. Prices have more to do with loads and inventory than the skirmishes in Bangkok. Thai Airways is the only direct flight from LAX. One probably reason prices went up is that more people are going to the connecting cities (Taipei for EVA, Tokyo for United, Hong Kong for Cathay Pacific, etc.).

Thanks but I like to use EVA Elite Class so that I may collect the miles. But anyway. Ive already Booked my trip To PERU, CUSCO, OLLANTAYTAMBO and MACHU PICCHU. Its a country Ive been wanting to cross off my list. I'll make Lima my last stop. There's an area called Mira Flores where Tequila Rock night club is located. This is the hangout for young party goes and Freelancers. So, we'll see what happens.

gents, i dont know if it works logistically,,, but have you considered a flight US to London and then pick up the Eva or similar flight from there.

london to bkk is about £450 rtn early june,, maybe only worthwhile from east cost

Ive done LAX to LHR a few times on BA and its was around 900 dollars RT plus about 9hrs in air. I'll just have to bite the bullet for an extra 3months..
