internet gambling in thailand

Recommended Posts

Do any of you do it, i know gambling is illegal there but met someone who regularly accesses betfair, he said there is no problem but obviously be discreet.

hi Londoner

I use both Betfair & Skybet when in Pattaya for Golf betting but more for the footy.

As Skybet say it matters more when you've got a bet on the action.

Neither Betfair or Skybet sites are barred in Thailand & I regularly have a bet on the footy before leaving my apartment

on my way to Soi Boukow/Soi Diana to take in the late night footy action in one of the bars,

Sheer enjoyment with several Songsam/lipos & a SML chaser and a juicy burger bar close by.

Sorry but I have just started drooling with this image in my mind !

cheers rogero  :behead :cry2

Your ok with traditional bookmakers and Exchnge sites like Betfair.

But try getting onto some of the Sportsbook sites even with a Proxy and you will have no joy.

I have a server in the US I log onto that from Thailand and do my sportsbook stuff through that.

sites like 12bet.com

They are Asian Sportsbook sites similar to normal bookies but they offer Asian handicaps etc.

You can play them off against traditional bookies with Arbs. I have a good arb calculator that links to all the sportsbooks, bookies and exchanges.

then it finds the most profitable Arbs sometimes as much as 5%

A lot of bookies were inaccessible from my trip in Thailand (I don't understand why do they block some and allow others). However I didn't gamble anything from Thailand for 2 reasons, one was that the bookie might see a log in from a different country and could lock my account, the second was that GAMBLING IS ILLEGAL IN THAILAND! While the chances of getting caught are really slim I went there for a holiday, not for a trip to the monkeyhouse!

Good post Andrew but if I can access my 2 main betting sites in UK ( Skybet & Betfair ) from LOS, am I violating the Thai betting regulations ?

I have been betting in Pattaya on my trips for a few years now via internet without any hassle so far.

A lot of my bets (non internet) especially footy have been a shake of hands before kickoff & settle up after, winner usually gets the next round :lovee

I still enjoy golf / footy bets on my internet account from LOS, enhances the experience & little chance of government interference :D

cheers rogero :banghead :banghead :D

Technically we probably are violating thai betting regulations. However accessing a site from your hotel room is not going to get somebody coming down on you like a ton of bricks.

The police always seem to crack down on card schools and dice only when they are tipped off.I just personally wouldn't talk about gambling at all in los.Keep it to yourself.

Just be careful if betting from LOS as the national lottery site now tells you that if you buy your tickets from a forgein country where they have different gambling laws your prize may be forfitted in the event of winning.

I would imagine this applies to betting sites too.

I would imagine thats true.

However by using a VPN in Thailand (or anywhere else for that matter) you're accessing via a UK isp address.

I would think all the large sites work just fine.

A LOT Of gambling sites are blocked in Thailand. Priority is to block the football-betting ones.

I noticed this only yesterday when I registered with the National Lottery so I could do my lottery numbers from Patts.

At present it seems you can only do the lottery up to 8 weeks in the UK although I did notice there was a link to a direct debit option ?

I read their disclaimer about possible forfeit of winnings.

I have prepaid here in UK & have a surplus payment sufficient to cover my future lottery picks if that would make any difference ?

As regards my betting site accounts does that mean any losing bets I made from LOS are null & void and I can expect a refund anytime soon :clueless

last trip ladbrokes was barred, but paddypower worked fine.

Just by coincidence I have added both PaddyPower & Ladbrokes to my benevolent charities recently so will test both next month from LOS.

PaddyPower cos those UK TV ads are classic.

Ladbrokes cos they emailed me informing me of an account I had forgotten about & had a few bob still in it from 2003.

I think probably by law they have to give me a nudge about my dormant account :clueless

happy betting everyone (oops from UK off course!!)

Just to update betfair is now blocked by the Thai govt I use identitycloaker.com with a UK IP address and can use it just fine again.

Definitely. And don't ever plan to use Ladbrokes or Billyhill without such help. These are probably the Top Three on the must-block list.

Hello all on Pattaya Talk, I have registered specifically to see if I can get an update on this Forum topic I.e on the availability of betfair in Thailand. I will be travelling there soon and looking to continue using betfair as a revenue stream but have read many varied forums posts stating either 1)that it is blocked by Thai government 2) that it isn't blocked 3) It is, but you can use VPN or other Proxy. I have replied directly to your post Rogero as you seem a regular user from Thailand. so, is betfair available in Thailand/Pattaya/Chiang Mai/ Bangkok etc? Do I need a VPN to use or not? And what is the probability of being arrested etc?
