Big C or Tesco's

I would not buy a bed or any furniture in these places.

All what I saw is very cheap, but very poor quality too... :grin-jump

I bought my bed a "Kamyon", about 1 km south of Pattaya Underwater World.

Big exposition of beds, sofas, bathroom. Good quality can be found there.

I have never known Tesco sell anything of poor quality, its the opposite for what they stand for, quality goods at affordable prices. I bought my bed from Big C 6 years ago have slept in in every night since and no probs, they even delivered it FOC. Probably not the best place or the most exclusive designer type, but it worked for me.

Tesco & Big C regularly make promotions with beds or wardrobes at 2-3 kbaht.

What quality do you expect at this price ?

You need at least 3 times this price (++) for a correct bed in massive wood...

How do you know their costs? Or their initial margins?

Price is not always a reflection on quality, ask any iphone 4 user :P

A half-decent matress is going to knock you back five figures before you even think about a bed. :P

What do you want? Solid mahogany/rosewood/teak or particleboard/chipboard/plywood? I buy all my furniture from the place on Sukhumvit just a few klms south of Theprasit, same side.

Both beds are mahogany, both from same supplier, both for seperate condos I furnished. You'll notice one is Euro "divan" style and low to the ground, with side tables to match and one is British "high bed" style (cannot remember the proper traditional name) with matching side tables. The high bed makes for a MUCH better "work surface" for those who like a standing boink!

These were, if I remember correctly, about 17,500 baht about 6 years ago...... the smallest pic is of one in their showroom (open corrugated single storey shack......big..... on the side of the road). The extra 6 inches or so on the legs was 1000 baht extra (no, not each leg!).

I hate those beds with footboards. I turn over when I'm asleep and stub my toes on the bloody things :D

Great fun for tyings things to though! :P

And if you are actually trying to sleep in one........ sleep diagonal! LBFM's are small enough to be ok with the rest of the space, top end or bottom........ or one at each!

Last beds I bought came from Homeworks and were around 25k down from around 40k and that was about 30k for the mattress and 10k for the bed with the faux leather headboard chucked in. In essence, you are paying for the mattress and that is where the majority of the quality is.
