Yeh I read it earlier. The poor Baht Bus driver was killed as well. He was off his face on Yaba, he originates from Beiruit, so lets hope they throw the camel shagging cunt into a damp, dirty little hole & forget about him :kissing

Sad...

"travelling clockwise around the roundabout at high speed..." :thumbup

@GlynRhedyn:

Why do you link to ThaiVisa rather than one of the Pattaya news site ?

@jamie392305:

No article has any mention of "yaba" ??

Like others I know the rounabout very well and its quite often a very busy one with virtually no order at all my sympathy lies with the families of the deceased. It also brings into thought the dangers of travelling in any form of transport in Pattay other than that conrolled by ones self.

Several have. Did you read the article at the ThaiVisa link, which mentions "drugs" several times?

Well, yes there is order. For one thing everyone but one driver goes counter-clockwise. That this one driver did not go this orderly way seems pretty certain from the photos, and not just the eye-witnesses. There IS some evidence-gathering to be done before we throw the key away on this guy, which wouldn't bother me as of now.

Yes they mention drugs, but about the Canadian guy !... not the poor Thai driver.

I understand that police found material to use "ice" in the Canadian guy's car.

Yes some cities have roundabouts in Canada but they are not as popular as the UK. Do you think maybe the root cause is the fact this Lebanese - Canadian was pissed drunk and possibly on drugs at the time he caused this carnage ???? I'm Canadian and I know this shit happens but this guy's behavior is not typical of the average Canuck. A sad event that could have been prevented, throw the book at him.

That roundabout would not have been busy at 4am so thats no excuse.

If he was indeed Yaba'd up then he should be charged with the Thai equivalent of Causing death by reckless driving.

The fact he was Canadian/Lebanese or Martian is irrelevent it sounds like he was a dirty junkie scum and deserves everything he gets.

Actually he went anti-clockwise.... which is against the normal clockwise flow in a left side driving country isn't it? :whistling:

The problem with this roundabout for me is whether I have right of way on the roundabout or not.... as many seem to take it for granted that those going round have to stop.... someone cutting the corners and going anti/counter clockwise adds another level of confusion.

All these idiotic countries that drive on the right sure confuse issues.

Exactly !!

I drove on the 'wrong' side of the road in Spain, greece etc for many years never a problem.

Now I drive on the Correct side in Thaialnd guess what ???? Still no problems.

Even though Thai drivers have less brains than Buffalo ( My wife agrees )

In fact I wont let my wife in a car until she's had lessons from a driving school I wantt o be sure she is competant and safe before she goes out to drive.

We always wear our seatbelts and I insist my passengers do the same. Safety first guys......

Do you mean that 3/4 of the world are "idiotic countries" ?

left-hand traffic : 76 countries and territories

right-hand traffic : 163 countries and territories

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Right-_and_left-hand_traffic

UK looks ridiculously isolated among western countries :grin-jump

Does the poster read the crap he writes? Or is it because its his 555th post? Bragging about driving on the wrong side of the road for years in numerous countries then proclaims "safety first guys". I am certain your wife is already more competant than you to drive.

Too funny. :chogdee

The 'wrong' in his post was irony mate, that's why it was written 'wrong' and not wrong. Brits habitually refer to the right-hand side of the road as the wrong side, it's irony and it went over your head :chogdee

Possibly you could provide some rules of "irony" from a Brits perspective for the rest of the board members. It's bad enough that we need a dictionary to figure out what some of them are talking about. :chogdee

Simple we Brits take the piss out of everything including ourselves.

You really thought I'd drive opposite to everyone else on the road for years and live?

I'm not Thai :whistling:

right or wrong, this is what i was told by a brit many years ago. the left is the correct side because are right handed. when people rode past each other on horseback to fight if they werent on the left of the road or track or trail then they couldnt use there sword or lance. That is why the brits drive on the left. It seems to that in olden days the brits spelt harbor and labor our way but after there fights with france they changed it to our-I think that is right, and similarly after 1776 when we ditched the brits it was decided to side with the french and ride on the right and spell the other way-i know that spelling thing does not make sense but it was a long time ago>

Trains go on the right, as do boats and planes have pilots on the right i think, so it just shows that although it was designed originally for fighting, we movved on and the brits didnt. :D :whistling:

- Train I am not sure of that :whistling:

- For boats right/left has no real meaning, pilot in the center, but international avoiding rules say to go on the right :

croisement.jpg

- For planes the pilot is on the left, not right

... but for helicopters it's yet mainly pilot on the right.

Easy, isn't it ? :D

it seems they were very right hand orientated to things. if you ever go to a castle in Scotland or Wales or England, when going up stairs the hand rail is always on the right, the reason is that if attackers are coming up stairs to attack you, you can come down stairs, holding onto the railing with your left hand while slashing them with your sword ikn your right hand and they have theirs in thre weak left hand, but there was someone famous in Scotland history who was left handed, may have been braveheart himself who was left handed and beat someone-ah, too old, to much home brew. :D
