Best Coffee in town?

Recommended Posts

The beans also have to be fresh -- generally used within two weeks of roasting -- and stored in an air-tight container at room temperature. I doubt the beans in the Beer Garden are treated that way.

I wonder how many coffee houses in Pattaya store their coffee beans the way you describe? Like I said Pattaya Beer Garden serves a good cup of Joe. :grin-jump

Once I open a pack of roasted beans I keep them in an airtight container with one of those spring loaded tops that really holds the aroma in. I only put into the grinder hopper what I need just before making my morning double......

Yes I have one of those Saeco machines that does it all automatically, sadly it has spoiled me for having coffee elsewhere!

I often have one of the massage girls make me a cup of cheap instant, made with tepid water from one of those pump dispenders with little lumps of 'creamer' powder floating around like life jackets in a whirlpool... it reminds me how bad it can get! Then I go get a massage to take the memory away!

The café on the Soi Buakao market place (near South Pattaya Rd) is very good

and sometimes in the afternoon very full too :clueless

They have many varieties and make the roasting them-self.

Agree my favourite coffee shop in Pattaya

I've never seen beans stored that way in Pattaya, sadly. Several places in Bangkok do it.

I think coffee is like wine in many ways. The taste is affected by the setting. I worked on oil tanker ships and we became coffee fanatics. We had our own blend roasted at Capricorn coffee in San Francisco and it had to be ground just the right number of seconds just before brewing. Since retiring and moving to Pattaya I have a cup of nescafe instant on my patio looking out at the ocean instead of on the ocean looking into shore and it is better than any coffee I ever had on the ship. And for my second cup I go to Starbucks on the beach with an ocean and lady view and it is still damn good.

The cafe is called Benjamit. The best way to find it is to go along Pattaya Klang (away from 2nd Road) to the next tiny soi after soi Buakhao (the soi is usually full of stalls). Go to the end of that soi (only about 20 metres), and turn right. Benjamit's is a few metres away on the right hand side. It has great coffee, some good pastries and a real funky feel, a bit like Cental Perk in Friends. Oh, and free wi-fi as well!

FLB has coffee, espresso and cappuccino. I always order up a double espresso when I get to the bar each night.

I'll have to try one tonight. I like a good double expresso every now and then  :whistling:
