Pattaya to Angles City

Recommended Posts

Good morning all. I will be back in Pattaya in July. ( I know it is a very long time away. Tell me about it).

I would like to take a 3 day side trip to Angles City PI. I

would like to avoid the trip to BKK and the trip from Manila.

At one time I thought I read that I cold leave Pattaya and

fly to the old Clark Air Force base. The have renamed

the airport there no doubt. Any help would be great along with

prices.

Thanks again and July is just around the corner.

I am not sure if they fly from Pattaya to KL but I know you can fly with air asia to kl to Clark from Phuket but its a lot of hassle. Best just bite the bullet go to BKK and get the flight with cebu pacific into clark.

Agreed, it's not as if the new airport was not easily accessed from Patts. It's good to avoid Manila if you can as the traffic is terrible there.

The new airport is on the Pattaya side of Bangkok and you can get there in under 2 hours.

U-Tapao isn't much less.

So Cebu straight to Clark looks good. Although arrivel time at 4am isn't great.

errrrrr... Did they move the airport? I would say that U-Tapao is 40 - 50 minutes from Walking St. I know Walking St is not the only part of Pattaya but most of us stay within a few minutes of it... I guess...

I'm not arguing that flying U-Tapao to Phuket to Manila (or whatever) is a good idea :hijack ....I'm just saying...

Thanks for all of the information. I went to Cebu sight and priced a ticket.

Right at $210 round trip. I should be able to swing that.

Thanks

Well they moved the main Bangkok airport late 2006...you didn't know that? ;)

What a crock, some-times of day it would take you 40 minutes to get from Walking street to Sukhumvit!

And look up the word Klang if you are unsure where central Pattaya is.

From Sukhumvit to swampy airport...0 traffic lights, three lane motorway and a bypass. Two hours would be a slow journey.

U-Tapao you have to go through Jomtiem, Na Jomtiem and Sattahip, 40 minutes, if you find the place, would not be much less.

The guy specifically asked not to go via Manila so I am unsure why you are picking an argument with me.

I'm not picking and argument. Not in the slightest. Sorry if my post seemed hostile, that was not my intention.

I only mentioned the location in case someone else was reading/searching the post for general information on UTP.

I know it's apples and oranges in this case, but, UTP is an easy alternative to BKK in some cases.

No probs.... I am definitely not a morning person.

UTP offers little in terms of available flights. Fine if you must go Bangkok Airways to Samui or Phuket.

Since the new bypass from the end of the motorway to Sukhumvit opened it is very easy to use the main airport.

There are plans to expand UTP and I believe a flight to Laos will operate soon, but there are also plans to expand Swampy further.

My point to the OP is that you do not have to traverse Bangkok to get to the airport from Pattaya...... it is superbly catered for by the motorway (Rt7) on one side, and Rt 3 on the other side.

I have done the trip twice, apart from flight times which are not great its good Clark is 5 mins from the strip as it were, AC is ok apart from the food its appalling.

The Cebu flight get into Clark at 4a/m.. I would imagine you would have to pay for the previous nights room to check in at 4 a/m..

Wonder how many cheap charleys hang out in the lobby till the next afternoon to avoid previous nights expence.

My first time ever to Pattaya, I used China Airlines. I want to say it was around 320am when I got to my hotel on soi 8. I did pay the night before and was able to go straight to my room. Im not a cheap person but I dont think I would paid full price for a room if my flight lands at 4am. I would leave my stuff at the hotel and see whats open and try to kill time and maybe be as nice as I could to the front desk in hopes of checking in asap.

I too am thinking about hopping over th AC from LOS next trip. Good luck :crying:

Hehe, a lot of them. I make the trip three or four times a year from Pattaya and I usually fly Philippine Air from Bangkok to Manila. I would like to avoid the one and one-half to two hour taxi ride from Manila to Clark but for me it is better than getting to AC at 4:00AM. The flight from Clark to Bangkok isn't that bad and I arrive at my condo in Pattaya around 1:30AM so one option is to fly PAL BKK-MNL and then take the Cebu Pacific flight for the return. Also if you arrive in Manila on Sunday the traffic is non-existent so the taxi ride isn't bad at all.

Made that mistake once and never did that again. Well worth paying for the extra night.
