Change of flight, robbin bastards!

Recommended Posts

I booked my flight back in july for the 16th Dec for 25 nights.. The other night tried to change my outgoing flight only.. I gave them a bell to see what the procedure was and how much the charge would be.. I had been informed by another BM ( also on the same flight) it was £100.00 with no increase in the fare i was charged intially..

That went out the window for a start, after giving all my details and dates etc, i finally got to the money bit..

All i can say is " Fuck me "!! The twat first said it would be a £150 fee to change one flight, then told me the extra was over £400.00 to book this flight.. The thing is, it was only 2 days before i was originally mean`t to leave..

All i can say to the staff at TRAVELPACK is fuck you!! Id rather sit on my todd in Doha shithole for 7 hours in the middle of the night than pay that to the fuckers!!

Just wondering is there a set charge for the change of flights or does it differ with airlines and booking agents..

Wanghin...

Again, that's going through the broker/agent. After a ticket is sold they don't what the hassle of making changes so charge these silly prices. Qatar may do it if the OP contacted them. Emirates do changes for £75 plus any difference in ticket price between the two dates.

Agreed, he must try Qatar and see what they say, however, i booked my Thai flight via Westeast because they were a hell of a lot cheaper than buying the same flight through Thai airways direct

on their website.

So the situation may be that they will have a lower initial fee for changing but it could mean that the flight price difference was a lot dearer.

He cannot lose anything by asking though :grin-jump

Cheers 4 the advice... but to no avail!!!!

just got off the phone with Qatar and they say its depending on the the agent and what contract they have .. Qatar can`t do anything!!

Looks like i`m stuck in Doha for nearly 8 hrs!!

My mate went with dial a flight, was charged £100 for the change of ticket and thats all!

guess i`ll think twice before booking with Travelpack again!!

I can't see what the problem is. The OP has purchased some sort of restricted ticket and now wants to change it for an earlier departure date. He'll have to pay a change fee (normally 75 quid for each change on Qatar's restricted tickets. He'll also have to pay the difference in cost between what he paid originally and the cheapest fare that is currently available - unless his agent has fobbed him off with some sort of package deal ticket.

Try to book a flight on the day you want it and a return date, see if the fare is the same as you paid before...?

If, your fare is available, you have a legitimate gripe, but it is high season and the cheaper seats maybe soldout.

Or, come up with a sad story, see if the gate agents falls for it on standby basis for the flight...?

Water Buffalo died, seems to come to mind, it does get results in Thailand...?

I had a similar experience this month. Maybe I'm just a dumb-ass.

I had paid extra in Japan for what I thought was an open ticket. (This is because they give me a hassle at the airport in Tokyo if I don't have a visa but the ticket is for longer than 30 days.)

So I tried to change the departure date in Pattaya and was told I couldn't!!! WTF?

I called my agent in Japan and he said, oh sure, you can change to an EARLIER date, but of course there's no question of changing to a LATER one. Laughing on the phone, as if nobody could ever imagine such a thing possible, and why would anyone want such a strange thing anyway!!! :clueless Punk motherfucker.

Good point, the chances though of the price being the same for the Xmas period from a booking in July is probably

no chance.

I booked my flight on the 30th June and Thai is not showing up at all, i think i got the last business ticket on my flight,

i did check Emirates for prices for the same date and today they are about £700 pounds dearer return than they were.

Plus - i just checked westeast online for the 14th December and qatar flights in economy from manchester are £1447

and from London the cheapest is £1388.

Compared to the price for the 16th at £1533 from London and £1592 from Manchester

not sure what the OP originally paid and i have assumed the flight was in Economy.

Just booked a flight with Philippine air -Hawaii to BKK and return. I wanted to stay until April. To get the cheap fare I have to return w/in 60 days!! Price nearly doubles after that, so I made up a return date and may just let it go!! :whistling:

I know Emirates charge £75 to change a flight but they won't always accept it.

It's fair enough. I could book a £525 return flight with a 23 hour stop over in Dubai because the 3 hour turn around was over £1000! Get to Dubai and ask to change the flight saving me £400. Many of the operators know this and combat it now by refusing to change your flight or charge a huge whack extra.

The Point i`m making is that my mate was booked on the same flight and he was charged £100 and NO extra!! WTF...

The original fare he paid was still available on that flight, that why he was able to change it

Your class of fare was soldout, must take the next available, which was higher, it is stated in the rules

I had booked a return flight with Qatar on their web-site for a 3 month trip but realised after a week here I couldn't face going back home in the depth of winter. I went back on their web-site to cancel & request a refund but as my booking was the cheapest going and very restricted all they refunded was the taxes etc.

Now I have to decide whether some time next year to book a one-way flight to UK & then book a a return for next sept or book a return from BKK. Seem to recall a BM posting about it being more expensive this way ?

cheers rogero :D :D :chogdee

I live in LOS and decided to buy my tickets ex-LOS a few years back, prior I bought tickets with a distant return date ex-UK.

The exchange rate has not gone in my favour..... :whistling:

Surprised you couldn't move your 3 month return out some months rather than cancelling it altogether. The extra charges were more than a one-way ticket?

Aeroflot/Austrian/ will fly you one way for about 20k....

Kingfisher/Oman 15k/16k.......(London)

I think the prices Ex-Uk relative to ex BKK are pretty similar (particularly if you use a Middle east Carrier)....the question is where do you ultimately want to end up?

Generally one-way tickets are expensive.... but there are bargains with less popular carriers.
