Where hab all the old timers gone?

Recommended Posts

Seems like we have lost a lot of the ole posters. Was there a fee charge to use this forum that I have missed? Or has Pattaya and Thailand in general turned off a lot of people due to the baht value and are hunting elsewhere?

My own experiences....

From 10 Pattaya regular friends 8 will not arrive in this year for various reasons...

Girls never called me even in Pattaya calling me, smsing me, emailing me when I will arrive ? ( the same with some of my friends )

Pattaya is getting busier by the day. I think the visa restrictions and baht strength eliminated a lot of low end tourists and cheap Charlies but the better condos are booked and the popular bars and a-go-gos are doing well as far as I can tell. Hope high season is busy and the ladies make good money. God knows they deserve it.

That is where you've got it so wrong, I'll soon be heading over for my third trip this year.

Some people refer to me as a cheap charlie because of my prudent savvy spending.

The chances are that most people that can no longer visit were big spenders that lost their jobs due to the recession.

For years people that worked in financial institutions and construction made more money than they could spend but now many of them are unemployed.

Pattaya is affordable for cheap charlies but not so for big spenders.

Lower wages and awful exchange rates have turned former big spenders into prudent mongers.

Well this "newbie" is going to arrive for his first encounter with Pattaya in 2 weeks!

:hairout

And a hearty welcome to you. Don't let the bitter financially challenged types affect your enjoyment.

They had their day when they had some dosh, but now they think everyone ought to be as penurious as they are...anonymously.

I am a cheap Charlie and all the money I saved during the past trips makes my imminent visit possible! Maybe I'll spend even less this time.

Cheers!

Why would the girls not call Gabor?

Have they no money to call?

They have given up hope their Teelak will land up?

They have gone back to their villages due to low tourist turnout?

My favourite girl's gone back to Nong Prue and is coming down to meet me in Patts but we keep talking over the phone.

I have always felt most Thais disrespect money. The hanker after it, but treat it casually.

If they have it they want to spend it as if it might go out of fashion.

My TGF tucks notes all over the place and leaves change lying around.

I still make it to Pattaya once a week. Yesterday had some scran at Tequila Reef, then to the floating market, and ended the day off with an elephant ride.

Not really into the big girls myself, but I'm glad you enjoyed your day... :grin-jump
