Thanks for all the responses. Its rare to find 100% acceptance of a guesthouse but thats the case here.

Not all are always happy, but we have put a huge amount of Baht into the place

We appreciate the business...

Hi there Greg. Can I suggest the following. I have to admit this is not the first time that I have made the suggestion but no one so far has taken it up. I would love to see a Soi LK guest house sort out a deal/ contract/ understanding whatever with a hotel in the area for use of the pool. Perhaps a charge back basis.

As I see it I believe that the Areca charges 200 baht. When I add this to a room amount and take into account that the rate at Areca included breakfast then I may as well have stayed in hotel in the first place.

The point is that I want access to a pool in the area when I want to use a pool. I want a rate that is reasonable and preferably a chargeback.

Any thoughts?

A 5 minute walk and you can have access to a fantastic swimming pool on top of Mikes only 80 baht well worth a visit.

Apparently the Drunken Duck is doing well. Due to the good reports, I decided to give it a try. I wanted two rooms for three nights because they have a minimum three night rule. I sent them an email and they did have two rooms available. I understood the rooms were 850 baht and I expected a Pattaya Talk discount. No discount was offered and no explanation for a 1,000 baht rate rather than 850 baht. I had to say thanks but no thanks.

Its still high season mate , the rooms would be good value at 1000 a night in low season IMHO :allright

The website says that some rooms are 850 and go up to 1000 w/ balcony. Maybe that's all they had available?

I never heard of them offering a PattayaTalk discount.

If anything, TTT probably charges more for members here :allright

May I ask why you expect a discount...? :whistling:

We have 12 rooms, not hundreds and they fill up fast :whistling:

At times I can't even get my room (#5), because of bookings :whistling:

You have a financial stake in this business? Interesting? I'll have to stop by and take a look for myself. B)

Maybe I got mixed up with the Pattaya Talk discount. I was sure that one of the guest houses was offering a member discount. I had thought it was the Drunken Duck. It wouldn't be the first time I was mistaken.

You have a financial stake in the business?

It's obvious that you don't keep up with things, do you...? :grin

It has 3 flights of stairs, which you may find hard to get up/down

No Indian talior shop

Flat screen 32 in TV's inch all rooms but one (#5 has a big 42 inch old monster in it)

2 pool tables ( 1 is free, the other is 20 Baht)

Big Screen TV in lobby for all sports

Good location on Soi LK Metro, across from Devils Den

WiFi and it is a very good signal

New beds in every room

Cleaned every day, the girls do a very good job at keeping it spotless

A website, which you should have already seen, if you would keep up with current events

I don't mind someone saying they had a good or bad time there , TTT does try his best to accomodate everyone :thumbup

But if you are going to talk about it, as you have done with the SkyTop, I prefer you stay elsewhere

I don't want someone destroying what TTT, Bob and myself have worked hard at getting going :whistling:

I asked you a simple question. Do you have a financial interest in this business?

Why answer a direct question from you, as I've asked many to you and so have others... :chogdee

I just asked the guy a simple and direct question on his financial interest in the guest house. Same question you've asked me or was the question when you accused me of getting a free room?

I hope the owners of the Drunken Duck are successful with their new guest house. If they run a quality operation with the emphasis on excellent customer service. No doubt they will do very well. Good luck.
