thanks for the well wishes and i have to say once again ihave not ignored any complaints cause i haven't heard any until i joined these forums and i don't believe i said anything about a recipe adjust towards this complaint and as far as where i buy my supplies the thread stated that a waitress who was quitting when she got paid was talking about somethin g she has absolutely no idea about having said that i can say the food products i buy are fresh not frozen and in my opinion as good as any out there at a fair and reasonable price.o why don't you come on in and give a try, if you think my food is rancid it will be on the house.respectfully Dale

Can't ask for more IMO, nice one but watch out for the people that will eat the lot then call it rancid.

I will not return and try the food until I see a significant change in the reports on the food. It has been, shall I say, RANCID for far too long. No need for me to waste money on food I wont eat. I will go to Taquila Reef and get food that I know that I will enjoy.

Yep a decent gesture for sure, not one I will take up on though, once bitten twice shy and all that.

Maybe ... as long as you drink your dinner since it is hard to screw up beer and tequila.

I don't know you, but you hit that one right on the head.

Tequila reef only does one thing good: Tequila. Their food sucks.

Its not rancid by any means - made with fresh enough materials... but it tastes lousy when compared to Mikes Mexican. Not worth a walk across the street IMHO.

That said, their "sloppy nachos" are not bad. Better then most nachos in town - but not worth a trip to Soi 7.

That is a very good point, I have eaten at Kiss foods on many occasions, usually in the company of a local lady, and I have never had a bad meal, despite what the snobs say. Funnily enough, many who bad mouth Kiss for example do not even like Thai food. I compare it to the 'brits abroad' who go to Spain and want fish and chips and think the local food is rancid. Maybe the seasonings used in somewhere like Bob's aren't the exact same as someone is used to=rancid. I know many people who consider a dish with corriander rancid, where in fact it is just that they don't like the taste of the herb, just my few satangs worth.

Years ago Kiss was a pretty decent spot for a late night meal, I will however say that for the last 4 or 5 trips the food sucked and the service was even worse! not only do I love Thai food but I also know it pretty well.....The wife and I own a Thai restaurant in the States. I really hate to comment on Dale's new venture but I can say that the restaurant business is a tough gig and a lot of work. Best advice I could give is to LISTEN to your customers, treat them like family and always give them more than they expect at fair prices. You will always have negative comments from somebody, you can never please everyone all the time. For the board members here that feel a need to bash a board members business and destroy his reputation, did you talk with Dale about your concerns? I would think that most members here would love to see a fellow board member make a success for himself and live his dream. Dale, best of luck in your new venture and remember if your food is good and priced right your customers will be there. If you ignore these issues, in time you will have no customers!

Each to their own.

My mother was the manager of a Mexican fast food place in the States while I was growing up, so I know what "I" like in Mexican food. I find that the hard shell tacos, the sizzling fajitas, and also the sloppy nachos, to be very nice to my taste buds.

That being said, the burritos are shit I must agree. At any restaurant, you must know the menu.

The first place that serves "real" nacho cheese in Thailand, will be my new favorite place to eat!

Amen to that. Hell, I would kill for a good authentic Queso - but its not to be had anywhere here :/

I never had the Fajitas there, but I wasnt all that hot on the tacos. I like Mikes better.

Mikes Mexican is on Thepraya Soi 5. Used to have their card around here, but cant find it now.

Thepraya is the road that goes between Pattaya and Jomtien - the one Residence Garden is on. Soi 5 is just up from Residence Garden on the left as you head toward Jomtien, and Mikes is about 30 meters in to the soi on the Left. You cant miss the sign both on Soi 5 and on Thepraya - its a huge yellow thing you just cant miss.

Best Mexican food in town by a very large margin - so far above the rest that I doubt anyone else will be able to knock them off the seat. They still don't have Queso tho lol. (and their "nachos" suck)

Frosty

I'll look for it. I wouldn't hold it against him if his nachos suck, because just like the guy's favorite "Mexican food" listed above (fajitas, hard shell tacos), they are American food anyway.

Wishing you the best of luck with your new venture.

I have been in and have to say the food was poor, cold and not of good quality.

Myself and a friend both sent our food back.

It returned 5 minutes later fresh from the microwave....... pop into the Golf Club round the corner and see how popular the food is their.

I'm not saying this to put the boot in anyone that knows me knows I'm not like that you have a hell of alot of competetion in Pattaya, fresh good quality ingredients are an absolute must.

In addition to of course good customer service.

I'd also suggest a complete re launch of the venue you took over a business which declined which lost a few customers and a resturant that has a pretty poor reputation at the moment.

I've spent 6 weeks in town so far and the feedback from at least 10 people I know is that they wont be back.

Good luck.

Ouch!..........If this was the case then I would say it's probably a little too late to salvage this operation.......I hate to say it but if this is how you run a business you should really abort the mission and call it a day! I could never imagine serving that type of food to anyone and expect them to pay you for it. I for one find it an insult to be so openly taken advantage of! You treat your customers in that fashion and I guarantee you they will only be your customers one time and one time only! and when the word gets around you might as well pick up your toys and go home....Don't think so? ask the previous owner!

Interesting. Most of the knockers seem to complain about the food they had there before Dale took over and still whinge about the place. I think that if they want to whine about a place after it has been taken over with new ownership that they would at least have the decency to try the food themselves before bad mouthing the place.

Hope you go well in the place Dale, at least you are are having a go at something, more than some of your detractors.

Dale sold rancid chicken, combined with my pre dale experiences thats enough for me.

Also of concern are the reports all the food now comes from the Thai style markets in a bid to maximise profits, those places are absolutely rank and I point blank refuse to eat any food coming from them.

Read my review (post #18 in this thread) from just over a week ago, two full months after Dale bought the place. He doesn't serve the items as they are listed in the menu (missing ingredients, seasonings, tec.), nor does he serve anything that could plausibly pass for Mexican. Fact. From less than two weeks ago.

I was going to go down there and try it out tonight and post a report, but will have to postpone that.

Popped my lower leg out of joint at the knee during the bar crawl the other night, and it still hurts too much to go out to eat tonight. Will see about doing it over the weekend and will post the results when I do.

I had a burger and fries there in mid-November. The food was fine although I think it's still over-priced compared to similar fare at other places.

I think that you are already eating food that come from Thai style markets at other places around town and you would not even know it.

Read your post #18 again. Fair enough, at least you have ate there and have reason for complaint. I hope you told him of your concerns at the time so he can fix the problem. If he doesn't fix it to your standars, fair enough don't eat there.

No I did not eat it, Iam basing this on the word of others, pretty damn malicious thing to broadcast over the forums if its not true.

When I start seeing some consistant and regular food reviews on this place declaring the food is decent I will happily change my stance, still wont eat there though.

Nope, these days everything that passes my lips I personally buy from makro/carrefour/tesco and cook at home.

Even the food Iam being cooked here this morning in the village I purchased and brought with me.

How would you know where a place does it's shopping........?

My food comes from a Thai market, and I have never had an issue. Admittedly they are a bit smelly and there are a lot of flies, but a lot of the Thai restaurants are like that too.

The Muslim market on Nerm Plub Wan is the only place where the TGF can get the full length ribs with some meat on them.... after boiling for an hour and deep frying there isn't any harm in them.... taste pretty damned good too. I hope Dale can serve some up as good.

I wish him luck, sadly a good reputation takes years to build but can be knocked down in minutes.
