Just wanted to give a quick review of Manta in Pattaya Thailand as I thoroughly enjoyed the experience I had there.

 

Manta has absolutely excellent presentation, high quality ingredients exactly as described in the menu. Very friendly staff and great service. I highly recommend trying the Sushi and the Steak but I would imagine anything you order would be as expected. I went there with 4 other friends and they all loved their food as well. The appetizers are fabulous as well.

Agreed. I've only been once, but I and my dining companions enjoyed it immensely. I think we had the 4 or 5 course meal, and by the last course, I was stuffed, even though each course was relatively small, but delicious.

It wasn't cheap of course but well worth it for the experience and the quality. Will definitely be going there again

They don't play games with prices. It's one of those places you go and don't think about cost too much as it would make you a bit sick. At the same time, coming from the States, the prices are about right for atmosphere, presentation and quality even a bit less.

I often go just for a glass of decent wine in the bar.......... Champagne starts at 800 bt a glass. A decent aussie shiraz about 450.

 

I've only eaten there twice and enjoyed it both times.

 

Just a word to be careful of upselling...........a friend got talked into a 'special steak'........When the bill came it was 2 and a half the price quoted.........apparently the small print stated by weight. The Thais with him complained quite forcefully but to no avail. ..........Cost him over 4000 bt for a steak.

Now it looks like everything is a la carte, and would be considerably more expensive.

Yes, everything seemed to be A la carte which I'm used to in restaurants that like.... The steak I had was around 300 grams for 1250 Baht if I remember correctly and it was a Rib Eye. Very tasty

After some subsequent visits from the initial post, they actually have some reasonably priced entrees at around 600 to 900 baht which are specials somewhat buried in the menu that are very good. You can also get a fairly good bottle of wine for around 1500 to 1800 baht, best if you are sharing with somebody.

They are fairly decent Shiraz or Cabernets, I know it's not exactly cheap but "it is what it is" as the Thai tax on wine is wicked. Same bottles would be about $7-10 in the States.

The place is and has always been good.. Been going there for years..

 

We usually start there every night for at least some drinks and appetizers, then work our way down to WS.

 

The meals are good as well, in all the times I've been there, never had the up sell.

It's good to see a place that offers a good product.. Yes it's a bit expensive, but the quality and ambiance is worth it..

 

It's good fun to go with a group, order a bunch of appetizers, and a few drinks. I'm not a real alcohol kind of guy, but the Mojito's are tasty...

just at the food market bottle of Moet Imp champaign was 2800 - 3200 baht and at home it;s 2000 baht

at Ibar it;s 6500 baht the tax must be close to 50-70%

This is very true but some places are getting greedy. and blaming it on tax..

 

Exactly the same wine in PBG and Lobster Pot......Lobster Pot is 1.000 Baht more expensive but PBG has a better view and better service....

Although slightly better than it used to be………wine is and always has been; probably one of the worst buys in Thailand, and certainly in the drinks industry.
