I agree it's not the bar owners responsibility. It's good business practice to insure they do what they can to put pressure on the concession operator to maintain a clean toilet.

I agree. I'm not particularly fussy about where I have to piss but the food and booze in Thailand often means that a fellow can be caught short and if you have to pay to use the amenities you expect a certain degree of hygene and comfort such as adequate tissue, a hand held bidet, a reliable flushing cistern and a clean seated toilet bowl. Keeping such facilities clean and presentable should be the responsibility of any conscientious lavatory attendant. Older chaps often visit the toilets several times during a drinking session at a bar and normally expect acceptable standards

The Thais don't seem to grasp this logic and don't think of tomorrow. That is one of the reasons I prefer to drink in gogo bars.

Now this is a perfect example when it is proper to charge for using the toilet.

according to you.

I only find clean walkways. How does the rest of it look?

I support fees for a clean toilet facility and pay the attendant well. Fuck, I'd pay my hourly wage to the person on a per capita usage. I vote for clean attended toilets.

again, I've been surprised at how clean so many bar toilets are in LOS.

I only hope some of the restaurant toilets are equally as clean and the folks working there are sure to "not wash their hands". LOL

Neither.

Sometimes you are in the middle of nowehere.

Sometimes you could be sick with stomach ailments.

You can't always count on a restaurant having any bumwad in the stall.

When you gotta go, you gotta go. Be prepared, its that simple.

I am afraid my jest flew over your head.

It's a matter of mind control.

Worked for me on 6 years traveling and 30 years in construction. Fuck any portable toilet unless you enjoy that environment.

You can do it if you want.

No, I took it for sarcasm but it had enough reality in it for me to offer a semi-serious reply. :chogdee

I've seen some surprisingly clean toilets in LOS. If there's an attendant there who minds the thing, I'm even a more happy camper.

I believe you meant to say "a happy crapper"

Agreed on the real point, I remember the old toilet at 2nd and Soy 2 just next to the 7-11. I had to take a deep breath before I went in. Paying 5 baht for that was a joke.

WRT the poster who talked about lack of TP, in much of of Asia treat TP like an Amex card, never leave home without it.

I was told once that the guy who runs the toilets behind Adam's Cherry Bar pays 24,000 Baht a month in rent and makes a good profit. Where there's muck, there's brass. :toilet_claw:

Makes a good profit Brian :clueless maybe he needs to get rid of the guy who collects the 5 baht coin he's asleep

24,000 baht a month ?

So he has to take 800 baht a day to break even ?

Thats 160 customers a day ?

And not counting the salary for the sleeping partner.

Even if only 10 people an hour went for a piss he'd make a profit.

That toilet serves several bars so it is highly feasible...

Or a single person needing to pee 10 times an hour...oops gotta go!

There is money in bladders and bowels.

Some Aussies I knew had a GH right by Dongtan Beach in Jomtien in the little soi behind the 7-11 where the road curves.

No pisser on the beach so they charged 5 baht a piss and made 4-500 baht a day, about 12-14,000 a month. The net rent on the GH was 14K. Perfect.

There was no ST room in the gay bar acrosss the road so they also took their smallest room and made it into a ST room @250 a time. They got 3 STs a day for 750, about 20K a month. Local cop got it free once a day just to keep everybody happy. With the pisser and the STs they were in profit before they rented a room or sold a beer.

I've heard that the reason the Atlantic Bar complex at on Second Road does not have a toilet for the 4 or 5 bars there, is because the owner of the bar area also operates a toilet around the corner, and it makes plenty of money.

It's big money!

If there is one investment that is guaranteed to make a profit in Pattaya it is the toilet facilities in bar complexes!!! If you want to make money don't invest in bars... invest in toilets!!! :grin-jump
