No kidding! And I loved that part about the private information, heh.

 

But JEEBZIZ it is easy to send a fax. By the time you scan and email the document, the fax is long gone. And a *lot* of businesses and government offices that were set up for faxes just don't want to change - or are too hidebound. I had to send some stuff to a government office recently, and the person at the other end had to use her personal email to get it.

If you need to fax internationally then there are not many places that will do it. Even places that do have a fax machine will not be willing/able to send internationally. I ran around for a few hours my last trip looking for one that does, internet cafes are not where you'll find it. Finally found one in the shopping center on 2nd Road and Soi 1 I believe it was. It's on the right hand side as you're heading towards the Dolphin Roundabout, and inside the plaza shopping area indoors, 2nd floor, is a UPS or Fedex station. They will be able to fax internationally for you. I had to fax a copy of my passport to my airline over a misunderstanding about my miles account, and its even harder to find a scanner in Pattaya than it is a fax machine. Anyways, hope that helps.

Almost any hotel, just walk up to reception and ask. I have done this several times. Usually they want a few baht. If you stand there and watch, its pretty secure.
