I used Thai bus service on March 4. Bus leaves at 6 am, noon and 6 pm. Cost 200 Baht. Buy ticket from window 7 in terminal 1 BKK airport. Bus dumps you off up near the dolphin roundabout and a baht bus ferries you to your hotel for 50 baht. The 50 baht is not negeotiable.

When I used this service the scheduled departure time was 0900, 1200, and 1900 and that you can also purchase your ticket from the Thai Limo window number 5 in Terminal 2.  I used their service prior to landy2a so their departure times may have changed.

I am sure about the noon departure as that was the bus I caught. As much as it hurts this Aussie to admit to maybe being wrong I will not mortage the house and bet on the accuracy of 6 am and 6 pm departures. I thought that was what I saw but was only interested in my bus and the next 10 days activities so may have missread the sign.

The Thai limo service in terminal 2 sent me to window 7 in terminal 1 to buy ticket and the bus left from outside terminal 1.

Baht Bus is 10  baht in the Pattaya area. It sounds like you chartered the bus.  To be expected if one is not familiar with the Baht Bus route and the relative location of one's hotel.

Valentino,

Sure the normal baht bus is 10 baht but this is a flat rate for you and your luggage to your hotel door anywhere in Pattaya. The baht bus is waiting when the Thai airlines bus arrives and the convience is worth the extra 40 baht ( AUD $1.60). Besides it gets you used to being ripped off most of the time.

The are a fair amount of options here, including private minibuses, bookable in hotels for around 350 baht.

The best value is Thai Limousine at 200 baht.

mason45,

The Thai Limo option cost 200 + you have to pay to get to their office up on 3rd Rd, also they only have 3 departure times.  Mini buses to the airport cost 300 baht and will pick you up at your hotel and you can book these at the numerous travel agencies throughout Pattaya.  Many departure times with the first at 0600, however I'm not sure about the last.  If you take the bus to Mor Chit, a metered taxi to the airport is around 100 baht.

They do have pick ups from certain hotels. Though, as stated, there are numerous options available.

I'm arriving at the airport about 13:00 hours on May 15

Previously I just took a Thai limo and made a comfortable and easy trip to Pty.

However this time I'm not in any hurry and getting there around about 5 to 7 pm would be just fine. So I think I will try the public bus to Ekamai bus station and then to Pattaya. Not to save money you understand - I will probably blow the saving (1200 baht ?) in double quick time, but rather just for the experience.

By the 'public bus' do you mean the Airport Bus A3? (100 baht) http://www.into-asia.com/bangkok/airport/b.../bus_routes.php or a 'public' bus http://www.bmta.co.th/engversion/eng_version.htm

Valentino - Thanks for guiding me to that site. I guess I meant the airport bus. I would probably end up in Chang Mai if I boarded a public bus !.
