I want to buy a condo in the VT 2 A

Recommended Posts

Having lived in the Northern Territory for most of my life,....

I thought it was Bali, or Austria, or Germany .... I will stick with the ultimate one as you are still working (lazily ) on a sense of humour.

I won't be rushing over to the delights of Jomtiem, other than a slight diversion perhaps while waiting or post the dullness of a visit to Soi 4. I shall leave it to the sad retires who find Pattaya too expensive, and who also have a liking for the katoeys on the front.

Born and bred in Munich, Germany, went to school in Vienna, Austria for 12 years and then went to live mostly in Darwin, Australia at age 18 and have never been back to Europe since. Worked mostly in and out of Darwin in various jobs in the shipping industry for 35 years and spent most of my free time in Bali for 20 years. Retired at age 53 and have lived most of the last 11 years in Pattaya/ Jomtien and have now been living happily with the same lady for the last 7 years and do yearly trips back to Australia for a couple of months each year to keep in touch. I have mentioned all of this to you before, but you seem to get a bit confused after having your drinks in the evening.

As for being a sad old retiree, you are only a few years younger. I am a content and happy retiree who prefers to live in Jomtien and I guess my living expenses are quite a bit higher than yours, having to pay for expenses for a couple of properties in Darwin and one in Vienna, which is probably more than what a lot of people's income from abroad amounts to, especially a lot of your pensioner friends from England, whom have been unlucky with the decline of the British Pound and their pension not being indexed here in Thailand. I don't get a pension and I will never get one, as Australians have to pass an income/asset test when they apply for a pension and have to live in Australia for 2 years permanently before being able to apply. Unlike the Brits and other Europeans I have been lucky with the Aussie exchange rate for the last few years, which cancelled out a lot of the damage done to my liquid assets in 2008. This could change anytime soon of course and I would then have to adjust my spending pattern and my portfolio.

I still consider this conversation as harmless banter. There was no need for the reference to lady boys, as I am not that way inclined and never will be. I think you should post when you are sober and I will not hold your hostile post against you, but as a slip of the tongue, when you were under the influence of alcohol and a bit angry. Have a good sleep soon, so you will be fresh and ready for another day on this good message board early tomorrow morning. The subject of mosquitoes on higher condominium floors is a lot more interesting than throwing insults at each other :thumbup

Stone cold sober now, and up and about before 6am so couldn't have been too bad last night.

Yes I got your history, the first time, and the second, and the third and the fourth and.............

My being a few years younger still makes us both old........so what is your point?

The reference to katoeys was an association with Jomtiem...

Don't bore the world with Australian pension stuff. I have some years to go before I am even eligible for a UK one, and likely that goalpost will be moved away from me. I have no need of it. Nor do the friends around me here, in Chonburi's version of Beverly Hills.....:D

If you are concerned about mosquitos, I can fully agree with getting an apartment at a high floor, whatever the exact number is.

While living in Bangalore my condo was on the 7th floor and I was never bothered there with mosquitos, while Indian colleagues living on e.g. 3rd floor

were complaining about them. The area definitely had mosquitos and you were supposed to eat anti-malarial drugs, but I never did and

did not have a problem despite living there for two years. (I got too many side-effects from the drugs on the initial visits.)

Wasps were a different story, though - they were powerful and willing enough to fly that high and push into the room.

  • 2 months later...

Higher than 7 floor, 41 sqm, ( big space for the kitchen... nice kitchen furniture is a must ) farang name.... max 1.500.000 baht depending from the furniture and the condition of the condo.....

OK, I know many will flame me .... but always someone want to sell it quickly... and I'm waiting for their replies... ( not the loser developer's comments sitting in their investments with no chances to sell it and try to talk up the ices )

I have the cash... and I pay immediately following the transfer.. no bullshits, just the cash...

Out of onterest, why above 7? I'd have thought lower was better for when the lift is fucked? :clueless

Some likes it on the lower floors, some on the higher.....Some likes the practical lower floors, some wants nicer view.... many different reasons...Some says the mosquito border around the 5-6 floor.... ( true, my mates lived on the lower floors or in houses , all in a permanent fight with the mosquitoes, bugs, whilst I practically never meet them ) However, when you buy a condo, the higher floor, the higher asked price ...

So, above 6 to avoid the mozzies, get a better view, pay a bigger price, and maybe/maybe not have to walk the stairs. Or, below 6 to join the mozzies, reduce the quality of the view (?), get a reduced price, and have a less arduous potential walk on the stairs. Hmmmm. I think a lower floor for me, with mozzie defences, a view of the swimming pool, smaller price, and easier passage in turbulant times.

Firs safety as well.

Lalana sounds appealing at only 5 high and no corridors. But I think it's a bit out of the way for non drivers/ riders. Not sure of prices either.

There are many aspects how to choose.... Lalana to compare the TV is something like to compare the apples with bananas... nothing common...

If you really think about safety you should only stay in a ground, 1st or 2nd floor, so that you can jump by the window.

I don't really see the difference between being floor 5 or floor 15 when there is a strong fire in a floor below?

PS: I choosed floor 15: the view is far better :)

I know what you mean. But you'd be ok on the 6th if the fire broke out on the 9th :P

Where I come from, high rises are seen as deprived living standards. Especially high floors. It's the opposite of the rest of the world! That's Scotland for you lol. I thought it was bizarre when I first heard that higher floors were more expensive. Cultural conditioning I guess. They did try building and selling some luxury high rises a few years ago in Glasgow, but they haven't really sold well. They are full of welfare claimants and foreign students.

Was it you who posted a stunning photo of your view from Naklua? I would stay in that in a minute :thumbup
