:clueless Just got back from trip with Emirates from Manchester-not particularly impressed with planes and on board facilities-think Etihad is better. If prices were similar,I would return to Etihad.

Always thought Emirates had the edge with the A380 on the route.

My sister used them early in the year and was very positive.

Have travelled with both Emirates and Etihad and I must admit I prefer Emirates. Looking for to my next trip as I will be doing the A380 BKK - DXB and then DXB - MAN. :bhappy

Well if a sale has started today it's not a good one, i booked last week and checked same flight price today and it was actually 13pence more.

Just checked the price for our dates this month. Yes, the price has dropped about £30 per person, but the flights we got are not showing available and most involve a long wait in Dubai.for the flight back to Manchester.

Eh ?

Their fleet is less than 5 years old, most new 777's and the A380 is on the Dubai - Bangkok route.

The entertainment system is superb. Individual screens and hundreds of films and programmes to watch.

If Ethiad is better, I'd love to know how.

I prefer Etihad - although I have not been on the A380.

I seem to be on the older Airbus (340?) with Emirates and I think alot is about expectation- I expected a 5* airline from Emirates and didn't get it - I didn't expect lots from Etihad and found them really good.

Oh and the current Emirates sale - the prices seem to have increased - obviously a Thai style sale

The Man-Dubai leg was on A330 with tiny seat back vid screen.Dubai to Bangkok was on 777 but seat back screen about 7". Etihad's is 10 inches-and size matters.

I flew Emirates return Sydney/Bangkok in April (for the first time) and, except for arriving at 1.15am - which might not suit some, I love them. Now, I realise it is only about a nine hour flight and I haven't flown further with them, I enjoy their service, food and particularly the range in the entertainment system. The aircraft have been 777s, and the return to Sydney seems to almost always be virtually empty, so plenty of room to lie down in Economy class. I have never flown Etihad, but only because their flights are way dearer on the Aussie/Bangers leg.

I have flown both Emirates and Etihad from Manchester. Compared to Emirates the Etihad service was poor and it wasn't just on one leg of the flight, it was all four legs.

Haven't tried Qatar yet, but a few friends use them so might give them a try next time.

I have always flown with Emirates but their asking price of £790 about 3 months ago for my June trip was just way to high for me, I am now flying with Air France £477, I could have got it for £421 but my repeated efforts to contact the office went unanswered as there was no one in the office to take my requested holiday change. Booked it the next day for £477, but still a good enough price.

Just checked the Emirates Site and they are asking for £616.75 for the same dates. They really need to drop their prices as I have, as well as many, Voted with their feet and went elsewhere.
